History and the passage of time has been kinder to Liefeld than I thought possible. Good. I'm still not a fan of much of his work, but he seems to be a genuinely decent dude, and I can't hate on him for his success and ambition.
25 minute answer to ONE question. Awesome! Love this channel, love Rob's energy and passion. We are lucky that a guy that is so pivotal to comics history for the past 30 years is so open and generous.
Regardless of what I may think of his body of work, there's no denying that Rob Liefeld always speaks highly of other comic creators. He shows the highest respect.
To be fair, the late Steve Moore would have written great stories for Rob. Those of us that read Warrior back in the day (and Dr Who strips before that - with Dave Gibbons!) knew about Steve's talent, but Rob was right to refuse continuing to pay the wedge that he was to Alan, because Steve's name would not have sold in the required numbers.
Kudos to Liefeld for paying the artists and writers so well in a comics industry that has historically shafted them. That's what happens when a comics fan gets to hire his heroes. 👍
The first con-artst was the first shaman/wizard/healer/storyteller. Thats one of the things the Alan Moore novel "Voice of the Fire" is all about. Sure, it's a con so we dont have go out and hunt like the rest of the tribe (which increases potential lonegevity). But it doesn't make the magic/spells/potions/incantations any less real. What matters most is whether or not it works, not how much of it is kayfabe. Art in and of itself is kayfabe wizardry. You're creating a world with buildings and characters etc, but really it's all a trick. It's nothing but ink on paper. So once you realize this, the question isn't about authenticity. The question is "How much can I get away with?" Or as Wally Wood said,"Why draw what you can trace?"
That's when the interview is going well: the journalists don't even need to ask any questions. They just get the subject rolling and the information just opens up full bore. I have to say, I've not heard Rob Liefeld before, but his enthusiasm and energy just explode off the screen. Great storyteller, which is certainly essential to comic book production. Thanks for sharing this video. I'll have to catch the rest of it soon.
"I love this f****** channel dude!" -Ed My sentiment exactly sir! I burst into real laughter when I heard you! [ed. history: Had to add the "dude" upon second viewing!]
Rob could have been a stand-up comedian. He's got the attitude, the sense of absurdity, the sense of irony, the willingness to push the envelope, and even a gift for impressions. That's all you need. He's done pretty well for himself in comics though.😉🤠
Love this story Steven Moore, don’t worry he’s my neighbor taught me everything I know, at first I thought he was taking the piss, but he does credit him in a lot of his interviews!
A few years ago. I saw a lot Youngblood comics on Google Play. But right now, they have been pulled off and delisted for no reason. I hope all of the Youngblood comics come back again.
That was amazing. I am actually actively seeking the entire Supreme run. I can't wait to read it in its entirety. I feel like it's Alan writing a awesome Superman story and not letting DC participate or profit.
I'll testify -- it's totally worth tracking down. But the thing is, you gotta get the individual issues. The collections are infamously horrible. They look like your buddy printed em out on the color copier at work and snuck them home. But chasing down those issues is *totally* worth it.
Crude and uneven as it was at either end, I prefer the Awesome books by Moore to the polished ABC superheroes. The books have the energy and momentum of an artist finding a new approach. I hope we get to see you guys and maybe Tom do some coverage on Supreme and Judgement Day.
I wonder if leifeld knows who Steve Moore is at this point. When Alan Moore said Steve Moore taught him everything he knows he's partly taking about the Future Shocks from 2000 AD . Steve Moore started that format. He actually did do alot of good work for British comics at the time. Rob Leifeld just hadn't read any of it. Alan Moore was just trying to help his friend break into the US side of things im sure. Should've gone through with it. He still would've been able to say written by Alan Moore on the book. Just makes no sense to me.
Please get those reprints coming for Supreme, Mr. Liefield. Marvel and DC are already making a crapton of money from his properties. It's only fair you get yours too and we get to add those Supreme collections to our libraries
There was at least one trade released. It collected Moore's first year on the book. Unfortunately, it is a horribly produced book. Unbelievably bad reproduction. And out of print to boot! :( Gotta track down those individual issues. It's worth it!
I gotta know what Steven Moore Was doing for Alan... I was going to joke that Steven was sort of the Bob Zmuda to his Kaufman and then what Liefeld says at the end really puts it in perspective.
Steve Moore is an actually writer. He might just hadn't broken into the U.S. yet. Hes one of the really great British creators that all worked on Doctory Who weekly, 2000 AD. don't know if he worked on marvel UK and pretty sure he wrote in Warrior magazine
Steven Moore, not his neighbor, but his oldest friend -- though Alan may have said he was his neighbor for some reason. Moore was a good comic writer, but -- yes -- he never had a magnum opus. Of his published works, the strongest is probably his novel, Somnium, followed by his non-fiction tome Selene: The Moon Goddess and the Cave Oracle. Steve could have been a very good writer for Rob. But, yeah, not quite Alan Moore and definitely without the Alan Moore marquee value.
Decent guy. Not a great artist, but in the end its more important to be a decent human being. Cant help but sympathize with him. Also think he might have a bit of ADHD.. 🙂
There are a few takeaways I have from this - I've always thought Rob Liefeld had so much enthusiasm and love for comics, and it shows when he does a sit-down like this. But more than that, he seems like a truly nice guy.
History and the passage of time has been kinder to Liefeld than I thought possible. Good. I'm still not a fan of much of his work, but he seems to be a genuinely decent dude, and I can't hate on him for his success and ambition.
He’s fueled by love. He can’t lose.

Rob has a talent for vocal impressions.

After all these years, you can still see the passion burning.
Alan Moore’s run on Supreme was stellar! “Chef’s Kiss”
Man, this interview... i found gold

He's super energetic in this interview. Glad you got him on 👍👍
One of the best interviews ever! Rob is the man!
That was amazing. I was totally immersed in that story.
Possibly one of my fave interviews... Rob is a great storyteller!
Absolutely Epic. Loved it from beginning to end, need more.
Ed said it best- “I love this fuckin channel dude.”
I always like listening to Rob ramble on about meeting his heroes
What a great chat. Thanks guys!
I need a Supreme by Alan Moore HC Rob. :) Or an Omnibus of all of Alan Moore's work for Rob.

I know it’s been 4 hours, but I’m patiently waiting for next Uncle Rob interview…

Amazing interview! 😆 Love you Americans doing impressions of us Brits!
Rob’s impression of McFarlane made my day 😂
you should do this to all your interviews ...this was 👍
A few years ago. I saw a lot Youngblood comics on Google Play. But right now, they have been pulled off and delisted for no reason. I hope all of the Youngblood comics come back again.
Rob is writing Youngblood again in 2025. Maybe that had something to do with It? Wish Ed was here to review it 😪
What an incredible interview.
Awesome Comics was such a huge let down, because it ended. Until it ended, I was 110% on board.
Never been a fan of his artwork.... but his love and passion for comics is still going strong. That part I have tons of respect for.
That was amazing. I am actually actively seeking the entire Supreme run. I can't wait to read it in its entirety. I feel like it's Alan writing a awesome Superman story and not letting DC participate or profit.

This is great!
What a fantastic interview

Good call. The guys gotta do a video for Judgement Day! It would be awesome. A lot of cool artists on that book.
This is amazing and completely fucking hilarious. Rob is a treasure. 😹
Rob impersonating todd is the greatest thing ever
I love this channel too!
This is to the quick level insight
And Uncle Rob is 100%
I gotta start listening to Robs podcast he is like the Jericho of comic books. he can tell these amazing stories from a really amazing time

Sharing the wealth to those in the know 👍 #Respect
Rob seems like a great guy and deserves all his success. How much reward $ for a photo of Alan Moore and Steven Moore together ?
Last 5 seconds of this video is the best ending I have ever heard
Alan Moores’ Supreme End Story was absolutely Amazing
Só good story!!
Steven Moore is a real writer. His ABC work was solid:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Moore_(comics)
Blimey, for an American, Liefeld’s got Moore’s accent down to a tee 😃
Recently released: The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic, written by Alan and Steve Moore. 🤣
Chopping at the bit to write violator ha ha dude I can’t right know
His opinion on Moore is so based.
That...was awesome.
I wonder if Liefeld really knows who Steve Moore is and is just pretending he’s some guy that mows Alan’s lawn for the laughs.
Please get Uncle Rob back on for another session!
I love Liefeld's energy 🔥🔥🔥
Read necronomicon by Alan Moore and the sequel that is OUT there but these are his religious beliefs.
Please get those reprints coming for Supreme, Mr. Liefield. Marvel and DC are already making a crapton of money from his properties. It's only fair you get yours too and we get to add those Supreme collections to our libraries

Hell yeah ❤
oh my gawd.... wow - wow - fan boy heaven - wow
Shoutout the bloodcrips 🩸 ♿️
very entertaining

Ughhhhh Alan Moore on Fantastic Four would have been phenomenal.
Fuck the haters. Rob's energy and attitude makes me want to draw again. love this int

Pretty much what I came here to say. Steve Moore has a great pedigree but as you say, he never had the breakout book Alan did.
Yes the comics companies all did Alan wrong at every chance tho
Decent guy. Not a great artist, but in the end its more important to be a decent human being. Cant help but sympathize with him. Also think he might have a bit of ADHD.. 🙂
If Liefield does nothing else his creating his own Thor and having Supreme kick the shit out of him and take his hammer was incredible
They do decaf now, Rob.
Offers Alan Moore the Little Lulu reboot.
I'd pay to see that! I can see it now, Little Lulu is revealed to be a reincarnated Druid priestess. 😂
There are a few takeaways I have from this - I've always thought Rob Liefeld had so much enthusiasm and love for comics, and it shows when he does a sit-down like this. But more than that, he seems like a truly nice guy.
Sounds like mark waid has a history of interfering with other’s comic deals. I wonder what other books stories and creators he’s interfered with?
