I have been in Ukraine twice since the beginning of the war and shall be back again this month. One thing that needs to be pointed out is how high moral is in Ukraine, even at a time when it was possible that the enemy could win. On the other hand, the amount of indiscriminate destruction by the enemy is horrendous.

Quite a few of them are civilians who are optimistic that they can help turn the tide of war. But the moment they get shipped they'll be artillery fodder.
Russia haven't even remotely sorted out their logistics for their regular army. 300,000 more mouths to feed will just add to the problem.

Russia can’t break the spirit of the people. Remember early on in the war when Russia was bombing Mariupol, the city was ruined but there are over 40million Ukrainians who are fighting in any way shape or form to regain their city back. Soon the Army will be back in Mariupol. They may shut the lights off but the people with the help of the government will put it back on. They’ve endured a lot and can go a few days without light or power.

Don’t judge me just because I now live in the west. Ukraine is far more resourceful then where I’m from and they’ve managed to get services back up even after severe Russian bombardment. That’s why I can honestly say what Russia is subjugating Ukraine to is brutal. Many supporters of Russia in the west just don’t know what it is like to live under a dictatorship and having to run for your life and flee your homeland and family. Re establish your life somewhere else and become a productive person. Ukraine is lucky to have friends in the west who will make sure they can rebuild and the government now seem to be up for the immense task ahead.

Russians have a reason to not let NATO near their borders. They feel they’ll be attacked from there and have no time to retaliate.

Zakaria has it right on ive always liked his analysis during this whole war- he has paid attention far more to this than other observers - I know I have because all this is clearly evident but you'll still see some media people questioning how bad it really is for russia- it has been going downhill like this for them for months- it's why they were begging Iran for drones and North Korea for ammo- if putin uses a nuke we seriously don't even need to strike back with one, that's just unnecessary dangerous escalation that could cause more exchanges and world devastation- but because of how bad the russian army has become it means if putin has any real idea of the total embarrassment of the russian army he should know if nato/US forces enter the battlefield in a conventional manner it will be the end of russias army inside ukraine in a matter of hours. We will also take out any russian vessel not at a russian port, including the entire black sea fleet- russias precious s300 s400 systems cant even stop a 1990s developed US HIMARS platform, there is nothing russia can do to defend itself - US air power would totally destroy everything russia has, and we would not enter into russia itself but simply end the war in ukraine immediately- the best effect a nuclear weapon has is its deterrent value, once its used and a country knows you crossed the line, all gloves will come off- the systemic problems in the russian army and culture won't be fixed by a nuclear bomb, it will provide shock and awe but it wouldn't change russias continual failures militarily that have been going on for 200+ days now, and the response from the west destroying everything russia has to wage war with will greatly offset any potential benefit putin might think a nuke has- putin is more likely to sabotage the nuclear power plant and claim his forces need to pull back because of it- he will never accept defeat and using a nuke will equal a defeat for him as well- so knowing his sneaky kgb weaselness he would sabotage the plant and use it as an excuse for having to fully withdraw- thats what needs to be watched for as close as anything- we need full satellite cover on that area to record all of russias actions- thats what so many don't seem to understand, in the US we have satellites all over the world, we have know exactly what's going on inside ukraine and just how badly russia has been failing this entire war.

Indian media is generally reporting along the lines of Western Media. It doesn't toe the Russian RT News/TASS/MOD line of everything is under control for Russia. And India is absolutely looking at Western made arms (especially French) to replace its Russian designed/made weapons systems.

It's truly stunning. It's both the incredible bravery and professionalism of the Ukraine army, and the utter collapse of the Russians. They are not just pulling back or strategically withdrawing; they are abandoning their equipment and *running away.* And these are the professional standing, volunteer army. What the hell is an ill-equipped, poorly trained, demoralized mob of forced conscripts going to do? I mean, these are people being told to buy tampons to plug up their own bullet holes, FFS! The Red Army was once the most formidable force the world has seen. Now, it's a sad joke.

As a Finnish perspective... the nuclear option is very scary. As President Niinistö said, he completely supports Macron and Scholze when they keep in contact with Putin. Having to listen to Putin is worth it, if it averts a nuclear disaster in Europe. That being said, we cannot compromise our values or sell out Ukraine.

Scary times..
The problem is Putin's minimum requirement for not using nuclear weapons is highly likely to involve selling out Ukraine and our values. It would also involve leaving Putin in a strong position at home and believing he can claim any country he likes with the threat of nuclear weapons. Can you think of an offer that could be made that Putin would accept that wouldn't involve selling out Ukraine? The best offer I can think of is ceding Crimea, and refusing NATO membership for Ukraine. You think he'd take that? Not a chance. He's just formally annexed vast chunks of Ukraine way beyond that. So what exactly is the point of talking to Putin? Giving the bully your lunch money means he'll be back again tomorrow. We are going to have to face down Putin's nuclear threat come what may. Or would you prefer we wait until its Estonia, or Latvia or Finland?

What gets me is how everyone downplays the threat of nuclear weapons ,and the implications of there use on everyone's lives.
@@tommygun5038 OK, you're getting serious. So, yes, the problem is the most media (not just mainstream), are short clips, a look at a map, a few questions from a guest in search of a sound bite. In that world people like Fareed and Amanpour are about as good as it gets. But yes, it's nowhere near enough. Experts trying to not say anything that will discredit them while still displaying their credentials is about all we get there. But to the extent they are experts, they may at least hint at the questions that need to be considered. For more, to start, I read and I follow videos/podcasts by these experts and others (who may not get interviewed there). I look in places where they have had a chance to put together a coherent argument about at least some specific aspect of what is going on. For the nuclear threat some of that is beginning to appear.

I simply don't understand why the Western bloc is not supplying more missle defense systems to the Ukrainians so that they can defend their cities from Russian missle attacks.
The missle systems need a ton of training to be anywhere close to effective. They were promised, and training probably already started, but delivery and training will take a lot of time.

India got some Rafale planes. Once they try an exercice Rafale against russian planes, they will reconsider their buyings. Egypt already did when, in a exercice in november 2021, the Rafale literally turned off the computers of the SU35 at BVR !
