So impressed with Linh's ability to produce amazing food in all situations! Emma and Linh doing a great job! One potential issue - looking at your battery and wire diagram it looks to me that whilst the batteries are wired up in paralel some of the batteries have more wire between them and the rail than others - I have heard that this is to be avoided as the slight increase in resistence between the batteries and the rail can cause one battery to be used more than the others. Your boat though :-)!
At 17:12 when Teal started explaining the wiring, it made me think of ""The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle" from The Court Jester.
Hi from the very wet and cold UK 🧙♂️ for future consideration may recomend a raised bubble or sometimes called a mushroom hatch they fit them to coaches and some RVs . Baisicly they have a raised collar from a deck or better roof high point and a cover transparent or not that fits over the raised neck or collar and can be clamped down to the outer frame/roof/deck or partially raised ↩️↪️ to allow natural venting during heavy rain or angled for under way use or totally flipped open to open allow access. They work best high up and if they can incorporate a solar powered electric extractor fan of some size they can really help control heat build up and problems like this. A larger fan moving relatively slowly is more quiet and efficient than a screamer 🙄🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. The higher the better and the intakes at the living quarters extremities.. but perhapse not above the head ...keep that door closed 😂
Nice looking cabling! One suggestion for anyone watching this and considering doing their own similar work: always lay an insulating blanket over the terminals/posts you aren't wrenching. That's a huge amount of amperage just waiting for your wrench to slip and complete a short circuit.
I do hope your arm will go back to normal Teal. And, yes, you have a great crew. Now on leaving hatches open while gone. Yes, you do want airflow. Agree. However, water in the boat is a no go. Learn from an old sailor. I got the tip from a 70 year old bloke when I was 20. Back in the days solutions were simple (to almost everything I admit). This one works as it is based on physics. Leave the hatch open. Before you leave you attach a line to hatch and somewhere at least 1 meter up. Tie a bowline on the end of the lower bit attached to the hatch. Then put a sugar cube in the opening of the bowline. Then tie the bottom of the upper line around the cube with a clove hitch and adjust the top end of the upper line making sure the hatch is open. As soon as it starts raining, the cube dissolves and the hatch will close. For security I always used a bungychord from the inside. Hope this makes sense.

This may be a touchy question. Was your friend's son born with ear problems? I was born without a right ear. Despite that my biggest problem with not having an ear is my reading/sunglasses are always askew. (Lol) (BTW my avatar photo is not me, but I'm the male photographer who took it.)
We broke down and bought a portable unit just to use on a dock. That unit will not be used while cruising. We would be running generators 24/7 to supply the amps it draws. Got to admit, though, it does feel nice! 🧊 🧊
They simply draw too much power. We would have to run generators all day long to keep them running. I'm not going to lie. It would be nice to be more comfortable, but it just doesn't pencil out for us.
Nice video. Lovely visit on land and some boat work. Real cruisers life. Is that the way Battle born suggest to wire your batteries? Lithium has very low internal resistance so cable resistance mater. I would use two distribution bus and equal length wire to each battery. The more batteries you have in parallel, the lower the resistance, the more cable path length count. I have seen the Wynn having to replace a lithium battery because of a similar installation and saw Just Catamaran installed them properly on the O’Kellys’s boat. Ask Battle born, i’m very curious.
Teal, my friend (that I have not met yet)... @2:20 I see you are wearing a sling bag. I am looking for something just like that for my travels. Could you please mention what brand or model that is? Thanks in advance...
Why did you wire it in yellow? "Normal" wiring would be Red and Black. I looked it up and it appears Yellow for negative is acceptable but you sure made it harder to find wire, as you found out.
ABYC code clearly states that both Black and Yellow are recognized as "negative mains". To be perfectly honest, back when we originally wired our banks and main trunk lines the 2/0 yellow was $0.50/lf cheaper. And with over 300' to purchase, it made sense at the time.
The advantage to Yellow is that you don’t have the ambiguity of whether Black is DC Neg or Hot AC. And if the boat is already Yellow for DC Neg, then introducing Black for DC Neg just adds the risk of confusion.
