As it happens I had some leg trouble when i went running, I have an automatic car now and only drive the road ranger every now and then, the others are fully automatic ( don't work properly ) and early clutch automatics ( clutch is used to put the truck into gear and at red lights )( always braking down )) for me personally the using the clutch is better, it could also have something to do with the type or model of Eaton Fuller gearbox, one driver where I work used the clutch only occasionally with his own driving style
You shifting 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (Range up) then shifting 5th then splitter forward that was 10th or 12th Please ? My second Question is You're driving 5th gear with splitter forward then push splitter back and then shifting 6th that was 12th or 14th Please ?
@@1966human Thanks foe that - I watch it again in April 2024 - Now I request one thing that how to use that 18 speed climbing the hill I mean 1st gear + splitter forward, 2nd gear + splitter forward, 3rd gear + splitter forward, 4th gear + splitter forward / range up 5th + splitter forward etc... up to 8th + splitter forward
PACCAR reports over 80% of all new trucks ordered from them are being ordered with automated transmissions. Fleet managers are telling PACCAR the new crop of young drivers cant drive a stick and the expense of replacing burnt out clutches as they learn is killing the trucking firms. !
Then the gear box rotation stop clutches and clutches need to be build more robustly, they need to be up to the job, they probably need to build a more robust thicker clutch disk, or a more easily meshable gearbox, there shouldn't be any truck gearbox that can't stand up to haul work or new drivers, a gearbox shouldn't be that precious

I wanna get a job driving trucks. What do ya reckon? I’ve got my Heavy Combination but only done a few hours on pretty open roads.
Were you driving in low?
Clutching all the time would drive me up the wall. Do you float gears at all?
Can do, that white western star has a silky smooth gearbox, ill try to get the model number and put it in the Description section
hi sir, does ur leg not get sore double clutching?? american truckers drive without using the clutch... just an info sir :)

5th splitter forward would be 10th gear, 6th splitter back would be 11th

Yes splitter back splitter forward until you reach the crest of a hill and can grab full gears, that's how I was taught and what worked for me.
Nice
