    Andrew Stephens was very great in this very confusing episode.

    I know lots of people label this as the worst episode of Columbo. I don't think so, it's too funny to be the worst. Thanks for the review!

      I don’t think it’s the worst but I can see why some people hate it. It’s biggest crime for me is that it’s a bit bland.

    I just remembered the name of "Malibu University" - It's called Pepperdine University in...Malibu! I was there once for 10 minutes.

    I think this may be the worst episode of Columbo.

      I can understand why, it had some good ideas but doesn’t manage to deliver on them and it doesn’t quite feel right. Columbo feels wasted.

      This is absolutely one of the worst Columbo's alongside with undercover, no time to die and last salute to the commodore

      I’d vote No Time to Die as the worst

    I enjoyed your review. Thank you. I agree with your 3 out of 5 rating. This episode certainly is not one of my favorites, but overall I enjoyed it well enough, in part because I thought it was kind of humorous in an "over the top" way. Also, although I haven't watched the episode very recently, as I recall there were a number of minor things that in my opinion were just a bit "off." I won't list every single little thing, but one of them was Columbo repeatedly talking about Theresa as being so very pretty and young looking. At the time this episode aired (May 1990), Janet Margolin was 46 years old, a couple months shy of her 47th birthday. To me, she was an attractive woman who pretty much looked her age but who could have passed for someone a few (but not many) years younger. In my opinion, she did not look all that much younger, if at all, than Jess did (Brenda Vaccaro, who was 50 at the time, and playing a character who was two years older than Theresa but who apparently was supposed to look much more than two years older than Theresa). In my opinion, Vacarro could have passed for someone in her mid forties. But this is such a very minor point and I'm sure not everybody would agree with me about this -- or care! I didn't really care either, but I did notice it and it just seemed a bit "off." There were other little things, too, but I won't write a book here. :) Again, thanks for another well done review. I always enjoy them.

      I enjoyed reading your thoughts about an aspect of the episode that I hadn't considered There were so many awkward elements to this one, including Columbo making these inappropriate comments. I suppose I should explain it as Columbo trying to get under the skin of a suspect instead of thinking the Columbo character was developing some questionable character traits, such as his creepy lingerie appreciation that our host decided to skip over. It has been done to death, so I don't blame him one bit for that and I don't need to hear or see another video of all of the times Peter Falk said the word "panties" in this episode.

      @@meloniedropik3539 I agree. I likewise don't need - or want - to hear, see, or be reminded of all the "panties" references or Columbo's lingerie appreciation. I haven't seen the episode recently and I might not be remembering things exactly right, but the way I remember it Columbo was indeed acting creepy in the lingerie department as he examined ladies underwear. I can understand his wanting to examine how they are made as part of understanding and interpreting the evidence, as he always is very thorough, but it seemed to me that he did so with quite a bit too much relish. :)

      @@julieborel3043 It wasn't only in the store, but so much worse while he was "investigating" the victim's underwear drawer. Whatever possessed everyone involved to make Columbo do such distasteful things in the 90s episodes ended up with Columbo putting his head into the bowl then reaching into the water in a toilet to retrieve evidence without putting on gloves or washing his hands afterwards (in Columbo Likes the Night Life). Reaching with sugar tongs into an urn filled with the cremains of someone's loved one in Ashes to Ashes was another thing the 70s Columbo would have never done. It is part of why so many of us return again and again to our copies of the 70s Columbo episodes and rarely watch anything from the 90s.

    It was kinda worth it just for Brenda Vaccaro.

    Good work as usual. I always thought that gocha was a little odd. Wouldn't a man know that the small part of the panty is the front?

      I did try to work out if it was the same house for both episodes. They are incredibly similar if not but I wasn’t able to confirm it.

    • @meloniedropik3539
      @meloniedropik3539 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NothingButMediaNBM I have looked at that too, and I can't say for sure either. It sure looks like the same house as LSTTC with only a few minor differences, but the time between the two episodes would account for that. I read somewhere that the house where General Hollister shoots Colonel Dutton in Dead Weight was really Peter Falk's house, so my mind wants to connect them up and think maybe Peter made a little extra $ by having that same house serve as the exteriors for LSTTC and MIB.
