I was introduced to these characters through Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha and it's astonishing to see their super moves recreated in such a manner down to the smallest detail.
He's on the game because of Skullomania. In SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, Skullomania was part of the roster as DLC fighter and that's how Terry was a player here also.

Sepúlveda It’s nice to see Terry make it to FEXL before Smash stole the spotlight, but personally, I believe SNK and Arika made a bad trade by putting Skullo(lady) in SNK Heroines - a game that no self-respecting SNK player _ever_ wants to mention - instead of better saving him for *KoF 15* as a surprise guest, where the game will be _insanely popular_ than 14 right outta the gate (especially if it’ll have rollback netcode as rumored). If they had put him there instead, then players will be interested in looking up who Skullomania is, and that’ll bring plenty of attention toward FEXL, which‘ll be Arika’s plan all along. Just another case of “What If”, not that I’m bashing Skullo’s inclusion in an SNK game like Heroines, but he could’ve been added in a better game like KOF, or better yet, add Garuda to “Samurai Shodown”, and that’ll be plenty hype.

Only hardcore underground (fighting) gamers know of its existence, and even so, the game wasn’t as internationally known as the “Street Fighter EX” trilogy, with characters like Skullo, Kairi, Jack, Pullum, Garuda and so forth - exclusive Arika-made characters that only those who grew up with Street Fighter EX can recognize. My hope is that FEXL gains enough support and budget to warrant returning the fold the “Fighting Layer” cast to the new generation of gamers, y’know, give those characters another chance to shine. That’s why I always say, “Support FEXL” on social media, Discord, etc.

And I’ll be honest, I never actually played the EX trilogy in my life, but I’ve fairly been fascinated by those original characters and wondered why they were never in a mainline Street Fighter game, until I found out later on it was because Arika legit owns those characters, not Capcom, so they couldn’t reach an agreement. And you know, this game, FEXL, it doesn’t have the financial and fan support from Capcom to become a well-known EVO-promoted game, but I admire Arika for standing on their own two feet and making this game without holding Capcom’s hand as they’ve done for the EX games. Everything they know, they have a small company of veteran fighting game developers, so they know what they’re doing, even if they possess an “arcade” mentality as most Japanese developers still have in today’s Internet Era day and age. They’re honest about their development, which, compared to companies like Capcom and NetherRealm Studios, I can respect. Like I said, it’s a damn shame this game doesn’t get a lot of marketing and support to stay relevant in this day and age, but I still believe it can be better, it should grow to be better, if players were to actually pay attention and give the indie games a chance to grow. Even the franchises we know and love were indie when they first started, and that’s something to always remember the next time we forget about how FEXL started out as a passion project.

Mordexai Adding the three of them would be similar to when Soul Calibur 5 added Edgemaster, Elysium, and Kilik (all mimic fighters) - waste of character slots. Focus on the FL cast first, add new content like stages, modes and stuff, and then at the very bottom of the list, add those 3.
Terry's level 3 makes me hope they will eventually add the level 3 meteor supers from EX2 and 3 to the others characters, I feel they really added a lot to each character's personality.
Ex plus alpha was the last one i played, never realised it developed further which is nice to see because I always liked that game and most of the characters particularly d dark, garuda and hokuto.

Well, the people who made this actually made the very first Street Fighter game as well as the Street Fighter EX saga which was the fundamental precursor for Capcom using Arika to experiment with 3D Street Fighter games which made Street Fighter IV and V possible
The problem of this game is that it was too expensive for the little content it had. The Arcade mode doesn't even have a story in it, there's not even pictures there for intro and endings. They've tried to get away with releasing a fighting game with only Versus in it. And some special moves are locked behind paywall.

Fighting EX Layer is a really fun game. I don't dislike any of the characters, but my favorites are: Area, Sharon, Sanane, V.Rosso, D.Dark and Shadow Geist.
I'm a huge fan of EX series. It's a big surprise for me that I just find out this game exist. Why is game is not well known? Why EX series underrated? They should add these characters in coming Streer Fighter main series. Nanase, D.Dark and Garuda are my favorite characters. Edit: why the fk they changed Nanase to Sanane?
The Ex series is underrated cause people don't think this is what sf needs which it definitely does . The game did sell well and you'd expect a sequel to be announced by now but nope nothing and another dive doesn't count as a sequel cause it's an updated version and that game flopped as hell . At least the ex characters are in the sf continuity and hopefully will be playable in future sf games .Arika and capcom are improving on there relationship so who nows maybe capcom will arika . I'd imagine them having the same relationship like Sega and atlus .
In case you are late to the facts but SF EX is a game made by Arika, not Capcom. The characters are owned by Arika. That's why they never appeared in a product made by Capcom.

If they were smart, they would parter with Xbox and make it available on game pass. I bet this would’ve filled that void of street fighter 5 for a lot of people and would’ve gotten huge. With a few fixes, this game could be huge.

Capcom honestly is not in the same place that it was around fifteen years ago, so, given how the state of the company is now, they could use every bit of help that they can, and Arika would be that perfect partner to assist Capcom.
I'd just like to ask to Arika staff: If the game's name is FIGHTING EX LAYER, where are the chararcters from Fighting Layer? Except for Blair and Allen, I haven't seen none.
ARIKA indeed owns the characters and their respective theme songs from Fighting Layer. The only thing they don't own is the name itself due to the game being published by Namco, hence why they took the loophole route and called this game "Fighting EX Layer" instead.
Still play sf ex series on ps1 and its amazing to see these characters get an update, but they couldve at least added level 3 supers, and its 2021...enough w the copycat characters. Hokuto and the Sharase character have the same move set. Add a story mode and level 3 supers!

Fighting EX Layer is a really fun game. I don't dislike any of the characters, but my favorites are: Area, Sharon, Sanane, V.Rosso, D.Dark and Shadow Geist.

I'm a huge fan of EX series. It's a big surprise for me that I just find out this game exist. Why is game is not well known? Why EX series underrated? They should add these characters in coming Streer Fighter main series. Nanase, D.Dark and Garuda are my favorite characters. Edit: why the fk they changed Nanase to Sanane?
The Ex series is underrated cause people don't think this is what sf needs which it definitely does . The game did sell well and you'd expect a sequel to be announced by now but nope nothing and another dive doesn't count as a sequel cause it's an updated version and that game flopped as hell . At least the ex characters are in the sf continuity and hopefully will be playable in future sf games .Arika and capcom are improving on there relationship so who nows maybe capcom will arika . I'd imagine them having the same relationship like Sega and atlus .
In case you are late to the facts but SF EX is a game made by Arika, not Capcom. The characters are owned by Arika. That's why they never appeared in a product made by Capcom.

Capcom honestly is not in the same place that it was around fifteen years ago, so, given how the state of the company is now, they could use every bit of help that they can, and Arika would be that perfect partner to assist Capcom.

If the game's name is FIGHTING EX LAYER, where are the chararcters from Fighting Layer? Except for Blair and Allen, I haven't seen none.

ARIKA indeed owns the characters and their respective theme songs from Fighting Layer. The only thing they don't own is the name itself due to the game being published by Namco, hence why they took the loophole route and called this game "Fighting EX Layer" instead.

Still play sf ex series on ps1 and its amazing to see these characters get an update, but they couldve at least added level 3 supers, and its 2021...enough w the copycat characters. Hokuto and the Sharase character have the same move set. Add a story mode and level 3 supers!
