I like your channel and the clear and simple way that you explain things to folks who might just be getting started. I was surprised that you didn’t mention the most common use of the D4 mini’s input jack, which is to accept a wireless lav for classic interview setups. I always prefer boom and a lav when interviewing someone and that setup has saved my bacon in the edit on more than one occasion. Especially now that products like the Rode Wireless Go, or the version that Synco makes, which is cheaper and very nearly as good, make working with a wireless lav affordable and, depending on where you’re shooting, pretty hassle-free. I have better audio setups that I’ll use instead of the Diety/Synco combination when the situation calls for it, but quite often I find I’m using the cheaper solution because it’s lower profile, so draws less attention, and is easier to set up and get started. Just a thought. Keep up the great work! 👍
The D4 Mini would be my boom mic of preference, but for now I'll continue with my cheaper PurplePanda wired lav which probably does a better job of isolating background noise because it's always closer to my mouth.
I feel dumb for asking this, but can you hook this straight up to your computer? I'd like to use this as a primary mic for my twitch streams. Would you even recommend that?
How do you use it with a boon stand and tripod. I have it on a boon stand and my phone on a tripod with a 3.5mm cable that hooks up to an adapter for my camera but there's no sound whatsoever. Much like the way you're running it to your camera except I'm doing it with my phone. Is there an on off button Im not currently aware or do I have to enable something in the settings on my phone??
Thank you great video , I just bought mine coming in this Thursday , I was going to get the d4 due because I like the front and rear mic but I heard from another video that I won’t be able to use my iPhone on it so that was a red flag for me and I choice to get the mini because I notice it has everything for the price of 50 dollars
and also in the start you mentioned in text that " with EQ applied " what does it mean ? like did you use a software to tweak it and also how can you improve your audio with the canon dme-100 mic using a software perhaps ? It would be a lot useful if you make a video on this.
Comparing the sound in this video and the one you did with the Røde Video Micro, to me the sound of the Video Micro sounds better 😊 But the “input-output” function of this microphone was interesting 😊
why don't you try doing a comparision with canon dme-100 mic? because i am getting it with my m50 markii vloggers kit and what do you think about it ? Is it as good as the ones you mentioned in this video ?
This entire video really showcases the audio quality of this mic. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, yes it;'s pretty darn good for a $49 microphone!

Some good points. Agree the boom AND lav is a great safety setup.
Just got a EOS M6 ii and excited to accessorize. I always get good information from your videos.
Thanks, yea, this is my top mini shotgun mic recommendation now.
Hey Mark, great review. Can you compare this with Movo VXR10 pro. They both are $50.
If I can get my hands on one, I will for sure.

Thank you very much an amazing video and the mic sounds great :) keep the content coming!
What are your thoughts on the Joby Wavo mobile vs the Deity?
Great review, suggestions and great sound.
Keep it up 👍
You are doing great content
I will try my best
Great review Mark thank you
Hi Mark, do you have a video on how you edit the audio to make it sound THIS great?
I’m planing to make this video.
Great video 😊
Thanks! 😊
Can one of the ports simply go to headphones?
I feel dumb for asking this, but can you hook this straight up to your computer? I'd like to use this as a primary mic for my twitch streams. Would you even recommend that?
You can, but you would be much better off with a dynamic usb mic for that.

You will love the mic!
Does this mic visible if i use Sony 11mm 1.8 lens?
The DEITY D4 mini is a cardioid: is this a real problem to pick up the sound of the voice on the back when it is attached to the camera?
Not really.

Yes, I just boosted the base a little with an equaliser. I will try to do a video about it soon.
@@markwiemels Can you also plz reply to my other comment, it will help out a lot...
Sorry, I don’t know anything about the dme-100.
@@markwiemels Ok no problem. Good going with the great content!
Does this microphone work on a Sony mirrorless camera? I am planning to use it on the Sony a7c.
Yes
This comes across suspiciously similar to the MOVO VXR10GY that's about $40. Although no input port.
Physically it's a very different microphone, I don't know if they share any components though. I suspect they just sound similar.
I have a neewer 660 led video light with umbrella diffuser
Do you think aputure 100d will be better upgrade or no ? Tia
I would look at the amaran 100d, but if you’re just making TH-cam videos, what you’ve got is probably more than enough.

Yes, I plan to do a video with a side by side audio comparison with the VideoMicro.
i bought the arm and the mic you suggested, but i cant get the mic to attach to the arm. any ideas???
remove the adapter in the bottom of the mic.
@@markwiemels i've tried that it doesnt seem to come off. your taking the square part correct?
lol i found it. never seen that you could screw it out. thank you for the response.
No worries! I’m glad we solved the problem.
Is external lav mic port trs or trrs?
TRS
