Right, because the other derms are being paid by susan yara It's kinda sad actually, but since skin gurus became really big, doctors now BEG them for a spot on a video or a mention on instagram. No dignity at all
Susan Yara literally slammed down TO telling her fans not to use it and use this instead even though her profits are inspired by them and much interest in this kind of skin care came from TO. Moreover, of course at this time no one knew it was Yara’s brand!
That's not a surprise at all. Susan was saying on her Facebook group how she was sent products from Naturium and it's much better than The Ordinary before she revealed it was her brand. Current members have also shared on TH-cam that she is now saying again on the Facebook group that her brand is better than Paula's Choice. I like her for the knowledge she shares but she has shown she has no morals, so my feelings are quite mixed.
I feel that way about all skinfluencers who aren't dermatologists and tout themselves as skincare experts, like Hyram, Liah Yooh, James Welsh, Beauty Within, etc. Don't get me wrong - I find their videos entertaining but I take their recommendations with a grain of salt.
@@RinLaHarlequin same here. I put my trust in the dermatologists, cosmetic formulators, chemistry and biology researchers/PhDs, etc. first and foremost, followed by consumers who go in depth with the scientific studies and medical estheticians, and finally the “influencers”.
Gee, I have never seen a brand expanding so aggressively from a handful products to 33 products in one year?! That itself is not a good sign for scientific development, especially without a strong R and D department. Nothing but a money sucker.
I doubt they manufacture their own products. So I'm betting that they just buy and use formulations made by manufacturers and alter it a little. Like adding Niacinamide in every damn product they make lol.
Have you heard of Susan Yarra? She's the creator of this brand, I'm on the fence. Been really excited to try her products but feel a bit sceptical now!
Remember when Susan Yara, the brand owner, pretended she had 'discovered' this brand and how great it was? She even pretended to have received PR from the brand. Yikes.
@@ramonara2 Yes. She also falsely claimed that her products were vegan. As a rule, I don't trust influencer brands. They're usually overpriced for what they are. I'd rather buy skincare from a tried and tested brand that has put in a lot of money and time in product development.
It made no sense for Susan Yara to do that. As I watched a video where she was talking about Naturiam and recommending it as if she had only just laid eyes on it... just cringy cringe.
My friend regifted several of the products to me. I enjoyed them but I still feel that I can get the same results from CeraVe or the ordinary. It also leaves a terrible taste in my mouth thay Susan advertised the product without disclosing that she’s the owner lol.
It this that brand from that influencer Susan yara? The one that said she “potentially knows more” than a board certified dermatologist? Huh... no thanks. But love dr Dray for being so honest and gentle with the review.
She also lied for months about this not being her brand... then announced it was her brand after she'd spent months bashing all the competition and encouraging her followers to buy from them
I love this video. It was like watching my sister explain something she wasn’t interested in, but had to, and had to cover IT ALL! Like a report for school. Like she was reviewing this once and for all so people will stop flooding her with requests about it. Like, I’m doing this for you all but I’m not waisting any more time than needed. I didn’t think she was mean, more disinterested. Can’t say i blame her due to all the controversy around this brand. She was funny with ZERO bs. Loved it!!
I've been using the Azelaic topical acid for like 2 months now, don't have any problem with it. And I love the consistency of it! That just shows how personal skincare is. And I think there's nothing wrong with having Niacinimide in a bunch of different forms. It gives consumers more choices. Just my personal opinion and experience.
i love the topical too. I was prescribed azelaic acid through cureology and loved it. if i'm being super critical, i noticed a bit of that tingling so i just kept it away from drier parts of my face. i LITERALLY have not had skin this clear since I got acne.
@@Peanut_taco_muffin it is a personal preference thing. Dr. Dray said that she's not sure why she got an itching reaction from it, that's just how her skin reacted. Not everyone gets the same reaction as people can be sensitive to different ingredients. Having different formulations of the same actives is also a personal preference thing. Obviously don't use all of the niacinamide products, but one person might prefer a mist, another person might prefer the essence, third person might prefer moisturizer etc. Just depends on what individual people want/need in their routines and how they're combining it with other products. What "medical science thing" says that mist is better than essence or vice versa?
I'm just blown away by the time and effort you put into reviewing products. I'm appreciative of this and that you so direct and to the point. As much as I like other skincare youtubers too I feel like they are part of a friendship group and their is definately some bias in thier feedback. TO have someone we can trust to say the 100% truth and to watch out for her views is something else. Thank you Dr Dray :)
It's like that with makeup too. I was watching a new release sneak peak type will I buy it video and someone criticized a rainbow palette that was just being released and said it's outdated but completely was all about a different rainbow palette that happened to be a collab with influencer. What kills me too is the influencer would always say a palette wasn't good for her if you couldn't deepen looks and her palette really didn't have a deep shade just tried to justify that it had purple and you can use it for that. It's so annoying to hear the bias and hypocrisy
I think the relationship between Susan and Hyram, James Welsh, etc was affected after her sending them Naturium products without revealing it's her brand. They removed everything about it from their profiles/channels and don't mention the brand anymore. She deserves this though.
NoBSbeauty on YT also doesn't take any sponsorships or take any PR. Think she buys *everything* to try and is on top of all the bullshit brands and their founders try to do. Not a Dr but I appreciate unbiased reviews where I can find them, and they are few and far between.

@@kellysblackcat While I agree with most of what you said, cosmetic elegance does matter somewhat. Like if something pills badly or doesn’t rub it well it probably won’t do as much for your skin.
I'd be interested in seeing a Part 2 for newer products. I was introduced to Naturium through their body products more than their facial skin products, and I have definitely noticed smoother skin after using the three body lotion products. I also like the body washes but I do think that most of them use citrus fruits, so I can already imagine Dr. Dray's responses lol. But for the facial products, I am a huge fan of the retinaldehyde serums.
One thing that really annoys me about Naturium is that they put niacinamide in EVERYTHING! So if I want to use 2 or more of their products in the same routine , it increases irritation coz of too high a percentage of niacinamide 🙄
Sadly its what the majority of people really want ! But hopefully this trend will die down where everything doesn't include it! I stopped using the ordinary niacinamide because everything I use has some already lol
That's why I'm actually excited for Mad About Skin skincare launch in august, he vouched to not put niacinamide and hyaluronic acid in any of the products for the reason that the marker is so oversaturated with that.
I can tolerate high percentages of niacinamide like a champ , but it still seemed excessive to me to put it in everything. I mean, at this point their products seem boring since the ingredients keep repeating so much.
Aron Aron suuure hehehe but she could just take it as a joke or with a grain of salt, it is not that series! She does many reaction and critic videos on others so she should be open to critic as well. Her ass thinks she knows more than scientists and medical professionals. The only thing she knows more about is not disclosing that Naturium was her brand and breaking the damn law.

When a new skincare line is bringing out products I feel like saying : “send in Dr Dray” and we all stand back watching her talking/explaining about the products. I love her straightforward attitude ❤
Just came here to give my thoughts on the Cleansing Oil. I saw a lot of skinfluencers posting about how good it was, but I experienced the SAME things as Dr. Dray. The product definitely leaves a waxy film on my face, and the film will not wash off with my normal CeraVe hydrating cleanser-I unfortunately need to use a stronger cleanser to get the product off.
Great to see Dr. Dre's review on this brand as a dermatologist and breaking down the ingredient list, especially for people that have allergies. My thoughts on the brand is that I personally adore some of their products! I have been using them for 7 months and staple items in my routine are the retinol cream, HA serum, Vit.C serum, BHA toner, and ceramide cream. I like the eye cream but it's not totally essential. They do have similar product ideas to other brands so I think it comes down to personal preference for most people. I have friends that swear by other brands and their formulations won't work for me. I like that this brand is fragrance free, affordable, environmentally conscious plus I have seen great results in my skin. Out of all the North American brands this is one I continue to support and then use (mostly) Korean skincare for the rest of my routine. Still really enjoyed Dr. Dre's thoughts on it though!
I’ve been seeing this brand at Target and was so curious about whether it was actually good or not! Thank you for this, I’m gonna pass on it. Saved me some $! 💜

I'm kinda shook. I discovered Dr. Dray through Mixed Makeup's Susan Yara who is a co-owner of Naturium. I appreciate though that Dr. Dray doesn't budge on her perspective and is a straight shooter. I've been using a couple of products that she gave negative reviews to like the everything serum with the Vitamin C and Retinol. I've also been using their facial cleanser for a hot minute too. The Ceramide Cream and Sleeping mask are great lotions that I've been using too. I guess it's learning about taking opinions with a grain of salt because not everyone's skin reacts the same. I thought I had sensitive skin. But apparently not since I've been using some of this stuff for over a year when Susan launched the brand. 😅 I appreciate the in-depth review, Dr! I tried the Azaleic Acid product from them and didn’t do much after a few months so switched back to the Paula’s Choice one which is more expensive but works!
Thank you Dr. Dray for an honest review. Susan's lack of transparency regarding her equity stack in Naturium was truly dishonest and criminal. It was so disappointing as I trusted and valued her opinion until it was revealed that she was totally deceitful and manipulative. She even went as far to bash other products in order to promote her own. Women deserve so much more. I will never purchase Naturium products!
I've been using the Azelaic Topical Acid and it doesn't cause itching or any uncomfortable sensation at all. I think it's helping this patch of acne on my face clear up, too.
My moneys on you, doc. I first listened to an aesthetician influencer who raved about the Vit C product from this brand. I used the Naturium vit C. Bought at Target. It took me weeks to recover. Felt like it nearly destroyed my skin. Thank you to my dermatologist. Thank you to you, I’m listening to you before anyone else on TH-cam.
Oof. I have also learned the hard way to not listen to estheticians or skincare enthusiasts. If someone has the ability to try a million different products a week, they and I are not in the same ballpark 😂 not even the same stadium. Sensitive skin is rough. Dr Dray gives the absolute best advice when it comes to sensitive skin and skin conditions.
Just and FYI the gold in the vitamin c serum is conjugated with the ascorbic acid to stabilize it, allow it to be at a higher pH and to make it penetrate the skin better. Reading an ingredient list doesn't tell you everything about a product.
She kind of did. Anyway, lots of brands have done questionable things and still sell from drunk elephant, tata harper, herbivore, mario badescu, dolce and gabbana, etc. There is no such thing as bad publicity.

Products from Naturium that I’ve used and my thoughts: Mixed Nutrient Cleanser: used and loved, will probably buy again. Vitamin C Serum: it’s ok, didn’t see any improvement, have since stopped using Vitamin C. Niacinamide Serum: very nice, no problems and finished but have stopped using Niacinamide serums. Quadruple HA Serum: Caused extreme irritation, but irritation is not exclusive to this HA Serum, others have done the same. No longer use HA anymore. Retinol Serum: weird texture, I assume because of the gold encapsulation. Saw no improvement, will not re-purchase. Paulas Choice Clinical and Differin have been much more effective. Plant Rich Moisturizer: Very nice, I’ve bought twice and really enjoy it. Overnight Sleep Mask: it’s nice, has a great texture but I don’t reach for it often. Can get the same results with Vaseline.
It is similar to many Korean skincare products IMO. A lot of duped and many active ingredients in one, so you feel that you're getting a lot in one but claims to be safe for sensitive skin but has so many essential oils.
Just a note: this brand generally does NOT use any essential oils. I guess that one particular product does for some reason, but none that I've bought or even checked out have at all. They have no fragrance to them either besides the usual smell of unscented product. Sorry- I just don't want people getting the wrong idea from reading this!
“$25 for Avocado 🥑 Oil, 👀.” 🤣 Thank you for doing this. I didn’t request a review, but I was tempted to try some of these when they first launched. Now I have a review from Dr. Dray-glad I waited!
Dr.Dray you have educated us enough, that we identified many of these problematic ingredients already. This video is a great validation for our learning.
@Siret Ojala I sometimes get itchy from TO azelaic acid one too, especially my neck. And I can get pilling after using it. The Paula's choice one has never given me any issues but it's more expensive, it's really a lovely formulation. I spot treat with it to make it last longer, I wish Paula's choice was a bit cheaper. But that one is a holy grail product. It also has salicylic acid and licorice root extract in it!
@Siret Ojala I will say that I had the opposite reaction that Dr. Dray to the Naturium Azelaic Topical Acid 10%. Any normal azelaic acid product (like The Ordinary, Curology, etc) makes my skin itch like CRAZY. But the PAD derivative in the Naturium serum never makes my skin itch at all, even if I put it on damp skin or layer it up. I actually highly recommend it for anyone who is sensitive to regular azelaic acid. The lightweight formula is great for oily-skin people like me who want a multipurpose, single-step product.
This brand is a joke and was born under the worst conditions possible. But it was nice to hear an honest review as most of other skincare influencers have been lied to or sponsored.
It's probably just me but I would be leery of a new skincare company that puts out almost 40 new products within the first year. This is an insane amount of products that just don't seem to be necessary. 🤷
The biggest money sucker.. she should enhance her research and development (R&D) team instead, do more ACTUAL researches/testing on her own products especially those with retinol, l-ascorbic acid, higher percentage ingredients, suspicious combination of ingredients and so on

I've been using Vanicream face wash 2x a day, the Daily Facial Moisturizer in the morning and the Moisturizing Cream at night to a damp face and my 60 year old skin has never looked better! I also use Tretinoin on top of the cream, no irritation!!
Thanks Dr. Dray you're the best!

Right, because the other derms are being paid by susan yara
It's kinda sad actually, but since skin gurus became really big, doctors now BEG them for a spot on a video or a mention on instagram. No dignity at all
@Michał Drożdzewski true! And i believe she was never paid by Naturium!
It sounds like some of these products are trying to be dupes of Tatcha, Paula’s Choice and The Ordinary 🤷🏻♀️
This is the best definition of Naturium as a brand 💯💯
What kills me about this brand is not only the shady launch, but how the owner shaded The Ordinary, and proceeds to be HEAVILY inspired by them.
@@chaseypoo17 This.
She dragged TO for not being cosmetically elegant, and now we hear Dr Dray saying Naturium products have an unpleasant texture.
The fact that Hyram recommended this brand makes me no longer trust his input on anything. Every day, Dr. Dray gets more and more amazing in my eyes.
Now , hyram have his skincare brand too he will introduce soon
People can't have different opinions? Lol some of these products have actually worked for people so what one person says is not absolute
And there are also derms who wholeheartedly support naturium so it's all a matter of preference
Gee, I have never seen a brand expanding so aggressively from a handful products to 33 products in one year?! That itself is not a good sign for scientific development, especially without a strong R and D department. Nothing but a money sucker.
Just a bunch of dupes
I doubt they manufacture their own products. So I'm betting that they just buy and use formulations made by manufacturers and alter it a little. Like adding Niacinamide in every damn product they make lol.
Have you heard of Susan Yarra? She's the creator of this brand, I'm on the fence. Been really excited to try her products but feel a bit sceptical now!
To be fair, most of these products seem like variations of the same handful of products 🙃
They probably don’t have an R&D department, they almost certainly rely on contract manufacturers to make their formulas
Remember when Susan Yara, the brand owner, pretended she had 'discovered' this brand and how great it was? She even pretended to have received PR from the brand. Yikes.
Omg really 😓😓😓you can believe everyone....
@@ramonara2 Yes. She also falsely claimed that her products were vegan. As a rule, I don't trust influencer brands. They're usually overpriced for what they are. I'd rather buy skincare from a tried and tested brand that has put in a lot of money and time in product development.
Sure do! Did you see the video JenLuvsReviews did on it? Tore her up.
It made no sense for Susan Yara to do that. As I watched a video where she was talking about Naturiam and recommending it as if she had only just laid eyes on it... just cringy cringe.
Yep and remember how she made an apology video but then removed it from her channel. Trying to hide what she did from any new subscribers.
My friend regifted several of the products to me. I enjoyed them but I still feel that I can get the same results from CeraVe or the ordinary. It also leaves a terrible taste in my mouth thay Susan advertised the product without disclosing that she’s the owner lol.

Yes, completely inappropriate for Susan to review her product and not disclose she was the owner.

This isn’t a personal preference things, it’s a proven medical science thing

I wouldn't even consider these products because brand integrity is so important to me. Now that I know the truth about the products I'm so glad that I followed my conscience on this one.
How the co-founder straight up lied to her followers and scammed them is a big turn-off. That's really fraudulent of her
I had no idea. That's awful
Absolutely. Susan Yara is terrible.
Yup she was advertising and recommending the product without revealing that she's a co-founder/owner of the brand.
There are a number of videos addressing this for those unaware.
@@db-gb5xi Yes. The most apt one, in my opinion, is that of 'Jen Luvs Reviews'. She gave a clear picture as compared to others,I felt. But there are so many other videos also

Cleanser, adapalene, moisturizer, sunscreen. Benzoyl peroxide for spots. These are my only skincare products now and keeping it simple has given me the best skin of my life. Thanks Dr Dray!
Which benzoyl peroxide product do you use?
Switch Benzoyl Peroxide for Azelaic Acid... BP damages the skin so badly.. and ruins bedding, towels etc...
I use salycilic acid instead of benzol peroxide but Im righit with u.
You cannot use adaplene during the day , it is not stable during the sun light
Same except bp
💯💯💯
Yep. I'm glad she told us how bad a lot of the stuff is. Won't be purchasing.

I’m living for the time stamps on this video, so easy to replay sections now!
One thing that really annoys me about Naturium is that they put niacinamide in EVERYTHING! So if I want to use 2 or more of their products in the same routine , it increases irritation coz of too high a percentage of niacinamide 🙄
Exactly. I can’t try any of their products because niacinamide irritates my skin so 😟. They put it in everything
@@morgianasartre6709 who’s brand is that? Sounds nice.

Thanks for being honest. People need to stop taking one person's word as fact because they have good products imo
I absolutely love all of her creams. They feel so amazing on my skin and I continue to repurchase.
this is perfect lighting for Naturium's funeral. 🥰
Yet it is thriving 3 years later. Guess the mob didn’t work.
Sorry- I just don't want people getting the wrong idea from reading this!
now this is how you do a brand review props to you dr dray!
The wait is over! Excited for this!
Thanks for watching
What’s funny is I said “well hey guys” bc I thought we were going to say it at the same time and we did not hahaha I was like oh 😨
My neighbors must have wondered why the crazy lady with the ear buds was bursting out with “bwahahaha” every 5 minutes while trimming her roses. 🤪🤣
😂😂
“$25 for Avocado 🥑 Oil, 👀.” 🤣 Thank you for doing this. I didn’t request a review, but I was tempted to try some of these when they first launched. Now I have a review from Dr. Dray-glad I waited!
Dr.Dray you have educated us enough, that we identified many of these problematic ingredients already. This video is a great validation for our learning.
I had the same reaction with the Azelaic topical acid, my sensitive skin was at its worst.
Made me very itchy
Try Paula’s Choice one
@@DrDrayzday I didn't have any reaction to it and I still use it!
Unfortunately, many of Susan’s TH-camr friends are part of the problem. They lie for her.
@@TrappedQue EXACTLY
It's probably just me but I would be leery of a new skincare company that puts out almost 40 new products within the first year. This is an insane amount of products that just don't seem to be necessary. 🤷
The biggest money sucker.. she should enhance her research and development (R&D) team instead, do more ACTUAL researches/testing on her own products especially those with retinol, l-ascorbic acid, higher percentage ingredients, suspicious combination of ingredients and so on
Last I heard, Naturium was being carried at Target.
She has to keep the line fresh somehow, and 40+ products, many of them duplicates, seems to be the way Susan has gone about it.
I have been loving the azeliac acid emulsion. Honestly pretty fantastic. Helped me treat a mild perioral dermatitis outbreak.
Lol the face she made. 25 dollars for avocado oil 👀
28:37 This sums up how I feel about this brand. Happy Tuesday everyone!!!
Dr. Dray out here doing the Lord's work🙌🏽 Lol, I VERY much appreciate it! You've once again convinced me that I don't need all the extras. Now off to check out your best drugstore sunscreens vid👍🏽
The "Bag of Tricks"! Vitamin C Super Serum Plus. Sounds like the "plus" is you can use it as a substitute for gasoline when you're in a fuel crunch. THANK YOU SO MUCH, DR. DRAY for always keeping us on the right track with Facts in protecting our skin! You're The Bomb! Hugs from Louisiana!
I use these products and my skin doesn't itch at all, I like the texture, and it works very well for me, my skin looks bright and healthy every morning, I use them because I have melasma and it has helped me a lot with my condition
