Float Fishing For Carp

- Carp angling has developed its own cult status and techniques where putting in long hours, often without result, are required for a sniff of big fish success. Here Graeme Pullen demonstrates a different approach which is capable of producing end to end action, along with some very good fish.

Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
What I've learned is if the ol' boys are giving fishing advice, you listen.
I’m starting again, 62yrs old great for me no complicated rigs, thanks for a really good video
I've only been fishing for two years and I just love float fishing. Really often on my local commercial me and my son are up to 8 and 10 fish respectively after a couple of hours and the people fishing with the beeper things are still waiting. Float fishing is more active and, for me, more fun. Thanks Graeme for another great video!
This is the funiest video of fishing and i like it.We are realy obsessed with expensive tackle, long distance casting and gold boilies. He has common sense and brain about fishing.Thank for this video. :)
Great video - gave up fishing in 1999, after spending about £4,000 on Carp gear. Started again this year (aged 60), back to light, simple, basic tackle and baits. Enjoying fishing more than ever.
Clive Sinclair me too in 2004 back at it now
4000 EURO!!, ARE YOU CRAZY MATE
I've spent less than £200 on my whole setup which covers Pike fishing too in the winter, went out for 2 hours on Saturday and landed 2 nice carp nearing 20lbs and a medium tench.
I always chuckle to myself when i see these pro carp anglers camping out all day and night and not getting a bite.
Same as me
This is a fake account for TAfishing .TA fishing is the real one this channel stole there videos!!!!!!!
O man you had me laughing when that rod on your right almost went in! This is so much fun to watch. Back to basics, and your having a lot of fun. Thank you for this.
Nice video!
My cousin fishes in this style and we had a great day last week. 3x 12Ibs carp, 2x 8Ibs carp and bunch of others including a 8Ib chubb. All on a £35 rod & reel combo set! There were about 5 other guys there that caught nothing all day casting out with ££££s of gear! Got me addicted, I'm off this weekend for a bit of float margin fishing, lovely!
How can it be inadequate if we caught a load of fish on it, pretty much as fast as we could cast out ? In fishing there is no "correct" method. The only correct method is the one that catches the fish on the day. I would use a straight loaded stem float for roach, but what happens when a carp/tench/bream takes it under ? Do they not count as they were on an "incorrect" float ? Our aim was for youngsters to have a heavy enough float not to tangle .I use Avon floats for everything.
This guys amazing I started float fishing with my grandad sadly he’s gone now
Some very wise words from Graeme in the introduction. An entertaining and intuitive video. Thanks for posting !
Graeme Thanks for another great film. Also for showing every one how you can catch lovely fish on a budget. It's how I started carping and I still prefer it to all methods. Please keep making the vids.
This is great stuff thank you! straight forward and basics. Here in the colonies folks just starting to wake up to the sport again.
Totally Awesome Greame. Imagine finding you here :)
So happy for this video... Taking up carp fishing for the first time in next few months, and got so confused by all the other videos.. Would have had to take out a second mortgage.
Wanna the best fishing commentaries I have watched, very helpful and clever!
Bread and bran work right through the winter. We had some carp a few evenings ago on it,breadflake as bait. Occasionally get to Surrey. We did a couple of films at Old Bury Hill Lake, but don't know many other good places, only Willinghurst, which is quite expensive.
Tried this today and pulled 3 nice carp out almost instantly! Thanks Graeme!
we went carp fishing yesterday and used the same ground bait as he does and i used a few of the (super duper) hot dog segments on my hook with fantastic results, caught twice as many as i normally do... great video and tutorial!
Thx, a great video...along with the rest of your videos...very useful for a new starter like myself ....cheers Mart
I really enjoyed this - I'm a starter and found this to be informative, anti-bullshit and fun. Nice one mate, great post
watch totally awesome fishing for the presenter gl

True OG, dives for the second rod like a boss
Great graeme . very much needed video and message . people getting wrapped up in nonsense become disillusioned and quit . happened to me and I was aware it could happen . keep up good work : )
What a great vid !!! Blimey ! That ol' Graeme Pullen bloke gets everywhere lol
I am still fishing like I did when I first start out, just normal a simple 10 foot float rod with a simple float set up or simple method feeder set up and a 12 foot feeder rod and simple baits such as sweetcorn, maggots, bread and worms. I enjoy the simple fact about watching the rod tip or float just going round or under and not even knowing the size or what species of fish is on the end of the hook
Stevie Sleaze nice use of the word simple😅
I am only twelve but I respect these men so much. Me being a extremely keen fisher I also believe in keeping it simple. Good job.
Your videos the best mate! I love the fact that your promoting this style of fishing. Keep up with the videos im subscribing!
Awesome.. plenty fish .. thought you had fell in lol .. awesome 2 on the go
Graham have you been watching me fish lool that's how I fish mate and you can't beat it. Wish more people fished this way. Anyway love all your vids and your humour keep em coming Graham big fan.
ok thanks for all your help im going carp fishing today with your methods:)
I did that mix and it worked a treat beat my personal best with it thanks for sharing the video
Thanks for the tips will start using um myself in future I like the light tackle to I've had some good battles with um
Very good and nice to see people keeping it simple for a change...
AWSOME video mate
proper angler you mate, striking another rod while already havin a fish on. great video
A great lesson on how to float fish for carp I'm impressed. I'll be trying your methods out. Hope they do the same for me on a cannal like they did for you on a lake. Good job!!!!!
The Tipsy Fisherthem love your videos thank you so much
i love your videos i`ve watched this one several times &still love it i`ve had 2 fish on but never tried holding both rods at once-good fishinf
really enjoyed this. thanks
Thanks for the help. Great video
THX SIR U give me the Motivation now🎣🙋♂️
great vid loving the tips
Got to agree i started out catching ity bitty little bluegill and i really appreciate even the small carp. I hope carp fishing starts getting the attention it deserves here in the states soon
hehehe, Sir , i love your videos , got from you lots of fantastic tips wich got me lots of fish:P , in special carp and tench . ive learned from you to mix up things like cat food , tuna in water , bread ,corn and hot dog segments.Had such nice fishing since i've seen your vids.one thing i'd like to say more , at some moments , when i've made a mix of this i also could see how crazy they will go for it . I could see the water like it had a war under the surface . Really amazing and the thing that made the difference it was the tuna in water mixed with bread and cat food ( some salmon thing that smells like fish ) At the water i use to go this combination drives them crazy , thank you. Also in this way i've got my bigest roach ever close to 22 cm . :D
Well done, nice to know others are using the same method .Quite satisfying when you see others asleep on their bedchairs catching nothing ! Here's a tip. Find a bush but bait both sides of it,then when you have netted a fish you can go round the other side and catch while the first swim calms down ! Good, and keep watching the films, more planned.Graeme
Glad you enjoy the tips. Man...if carp fishing ever takes off like it has in the UK there will one huge amount of business to made with all the tackle and bite alarms etc. Enjoy that natural fishing before it all gets changed to the boring way of sitting by bite alarms etc,I reckon its coming and someone will develop big money prizes as well. Like the Bass Tournaments.
u are bang on graham
@@joshplays3494 If it’s so boring why do so many people do it? I have better things to do than pasty bashing in shit hole day tickets to catch tiny fish that you can only feel sorry for because most of them are missing half their mouths. Specimen hunting is far from boring, it’s totally encapsulating. Easy fishing like this is unsatisfying and tedious after 2 fish. I’ll stick to 10 a year on a beautiful syndicate. You stick to catching 35 washed out carp a day from a muddy puddle.
love it, Car crass Carp fishing ;)
I'm only joking I loved every second of it and got some great tips that I will be using.
Thank you.
i love this simple fishing.
its cheaper, easier and much more fun!!
Great vid chaps! I've had a few days afloat with Phil fishing for smoothounds (scousers aboard My May), he gets more carp than hounds thats for sure ;) will give your tactics a whirl.
P
Thanks for the tip on hotdogs i caught a 14.6 lb carp yesterday :)
Love pullens no nonsense fishing
Nice vid boys, it is true many anglers are too focused on high tech gear but I think the old ways are best! Charlie
You are right when you start small you really do appreciate the size of fish and since i have been catching 15 lbs fish and really enjoy the sport
very nice video sir :) greetins from Slovakia
great and very informative!! Thank you!!
i Redeyez don't fish like this fool, get out with a proper fisherman who knows what he is doing.
thanks for the hook tips.im from owen sound, ontario, canada and we have lots of carp in the harbor.its so much fun,i dont know why more people fish for them.last summer i caught a 50 pound monster.
haha hotdogs great idea i used them at mylocal fishery after watching this was catching everything tench , rudd , bream great tip!!!
@TheExtrem31
Thanks for the kind comments. The missing ingredient from your list is rough dry bran from agricultural suppliers for use as horse feed.
Phill
StealthCroft you stole this vid you clown
I'm a 16 year old boy and I agree with you on starting small, I started fishing from a young age for trout and gradually increased the size of the fish I went for (I still go for smaller fish occasionally) and my friends I go with have bought all the gear and have no idea what they are doing and it's damaging the fish and they don't learn as well also they dont have as much appreciation for the fish they catch, and they ask me why I catch more and they have no watercraft just the posh tackle
Just shows and proves that a standard set up lands big round numbers! Love the video ...
Is this dry bran mixed for ground bait can anyone confirm please. Thanks
+Jay J yes
GREAT VIDEO!
Size 8 hook with bread or sausage and budget pack bait is a legendary. Thanks for your sharing!
Nice video!
nicely explained. I used to catch carp outside Montreal city, Canada and they are big dandy over 20lbs and the most successful is McDonald Fires and they are wild carp in the river rapids we caught. no flot, just through with the weight and the bait lays on the bottom. Now I will try with different way, may be with float in British Columbia(mostly smaller carps, but some lakes has dandy one
Awesome video
that fishery looks like willinghurst pittance lake in Guilford shamley green great work lads tight lines
Been fishing like this for years. Relaxed traditonal fishing.
first time i have seen this and i love it, my way of fishing! back to basics and away from the carp tackle you need to catch carp or you wont catch them! lol ive been usin hot dog sausage for yrs since about 1996 and looks like my secret is out :) the reason i use it is because it is kept in brine (salt water) and we all know fish love salt plus it has meat flavor and if i get hungry well i do take a couple of tins!, if only tackle shops advised on basic gear and not their profit! never happen.
I love the part where you are juggling 2 rods, reminds me of a few times I have been catfishing had 2 rods with fish on at the same time. I just did find a lake near me full of carp, I think I am going to try and give your methods a try and if they work there for the carp and if they do I will take my kids because I know they will have loads of fun.
Ahh Mr totally awesome fishing from TA fishing channel
In US this is what I use. I have a medium action rod cost about $25. 10lb test line, 1oz egg slip wt, swivel, size 6 hook. Where I live you can only have 2 rods. One out about 30 yards. One out about 20 yards. I hook up on carp all day in the states. They are an absolute blast to catch! Mirror Carp are not as feisty as common carp and you can usually tell which one you have. The more you spend I do agree the more you can catch. But My gear is bought which is about $100 in total. $1 in corn a full day of fun 😁
GREAT VIDEO! its good to see the old way cuming back keep the good wrok up
Great video
@BmxTrixs
Graeme's advice is to keep the hook point buried. The meat in a hotdog is so soft it will pull through on the strike.
@IIEnZoo
From memory it was just rough bran with perhaps some sweetcorn and hotdog segments in it. It should tell you the exact composition in the video.
Phill
Great stuff! cant beet the old tactics.
thanks Phill i wil try this next time i go
The best vid ever!
I've gotta have a go at this
You just can't beat an Avon rod, I've got 3 of them and use them for carp and tench. Great vid as usual Graeme and love when you jumped over to grab the other rod. All your vids have some laughs in them.
All you need is simple good value tackle folks, simple bait, and a quality carp net, sling and care equipment.
i dont use these big rods but i do like the bait runner carp reels mostly due to the line capacity so i use them with my feeders and float rods.
Great video. I am from the US and I Carp fish in the Ohio River, I just use a trusty zebco 33 or zebco 808. Never use anything fancy. And for bait I buy a box of Wheaties for 3 USD and make wheatie balls. Next time you go out, try a box of wheaties... just grab a handful and submerge for about 15 seconds in water...then mash up..let sit for about 2 to 3 minutes then tear off a little bit to put on hook. I am going to try your bait concoction next time out.
great video, just the way i always fish 👍
Been out of the country so only just got your message....
Willinghurst,Guildford,Surrey, UK.
Yes, Graeme Pullen.
Excellent vid.
Much more enjoyable catching good carp on float and a medium set up.
When you have a rod set up with umpteen Lb breaking strain, umpteen Lb test curve and a reel that could tow a landrover, It somewhat takes the sport out of it.
I've sat on Lakes many a time and watched a guy on the other side cast a bloody great lump of lead right across to the opposite bank ! What's the point, just fish close in on the other side and keep quiet.
I find it more exciting seeing a float slip away
i was fishing close in on lake balaton my float went down a striked(the best about close in is you don't have to fight the fish that much)and i cauoght a 12,4 kg carp thx for the tip man
10/10 he puts the bottom feeders to shame lol
Not really I personally have caught 28lbs 5oz on bottom in the UK and 49lbs 8oz in France none of them fish come close but saying that it was impressive
Harry Hughes yea but if u use 2 grains of sweet corn all day u r catching 100 small fish and every 10 fish is a carp and u still have a chance when every single fishermen is finished where does he throw his bait right in frot of him u do the same then cast a rod there i had a 42lbs uk carp on a float with this method from a friends sidicate lake i was packing away and do it alm the time last cast ia in front of me try it
@@streamfishinginsurreystrea962 That’s a lie 😂🤡
ive just watched it a couple of times, and learned something new. where i fish i often catch realy close in, in 2 or 3 feet of water,
great video
We don't exactly get two at a time every trip, and we were only using one rod each. The other was by Phil's feet, but where he was looking through the lens he never saw the float go.
A place called Willinghurst.Think its somewhere in Surrey. Should have a website, but I have not been there for a while, so no idea how its fishing.
7:53 He's duel wielding. Nice work. =D
Well done mate. Keep it simple.
Bless you.
Thank you for that information it appears to be sold as Horse feed so much cheaper than porridge.
@spongeyv1
Bran is sold usually by agricultural suppliers, primarily for use as horse feed.
Phill
wow, that was beautiful
@BmxTrixs
Bran is all we've ever used for what was being demonstrated. The only other alternative is coasre ground bread feed.
