Harbor Freight, gotta love em eh. About eight years ago I purchased a pneumatic Harbor Freight flooring nailer. It was on sale and I used a twenty percent off coupon too making it 99 bucks. After I finished nailing down my flooring in the 20 by 12 room, I sold the nailer on Craigslist for 85 bucks and it went fast too. Just a thought - good luck and thanks for the entertainment and experience. My first comment BTW after watching for nearly two years ...
Phil Sales That would not work for me, or her either. There is not a submissive bone in my body. It works for us, we celebrate our 53rd anniversary this summer. And we dated for 4 years before we got married. She was a chef and ran her kitchen with a pretty firm, but fair, hand and did a great job.
Wow, simple 2x4 jig, so smart! Mike Morgan's the guy with great tips on how to get things done smarter, not harder. I honestly don't think I would have thought of that. I also don't know that insulation was needed there, but I've never seen a heated floor install. Pushing the shovel is the best tool there I guess, the shale you put there is hard digging for sure. Don't hurt your back my friend, I need another few thousand videos from you! Outdoors With The Morgans is my #1 favorite channel, life without you would be bad. Great video this morning, thank you so much! Dogwoods here in Hickory NC are just beautiful and plentiful! 👍🚜😁
Time watching this video is 08:35 in Hope Mills, NC Chilly 48F but getting warmer. I like the way Mike says There it is, "Only 28 to go." Nothing like light at the end of the tunnel [wall?]. Have a safe day and Ty makes a darn good Supervisor.
Mike as handy as you are. Hand digging will give you the best results. Working with my Dad as a cemetery caretaker. He showed me how to use 4' boom shovel. Being right handed hold the shovel flat on the ground. Rest your hands against your legs and lean forward to fill the shovel. Your arms won't get tired. Once you try it, it becomes natural. Enjoy your channel. You're doing a fantastic jib!
Sometimes digging by hand is just the safest way to do it. I’d just put on my favorite radio station and get in the zone. Really enjoying the pole barn series.
Good luck with the training. We have trained several Golden Retriever males and it is always a fun and rewarding experience for the people and the animal. A properly trained dog is a joy for all!
Ty is just adorable. He definitely loves his grampa's equipment. We all remember and miss Stanley. He was lucky dog to have lived his life with your family.
Goodmorning Morgans and everyone watching this episode. Hey Melissa and Mike remembering your old dogs birthday is cool my wife and i remember our two wolf hybrids birthday which where last month those are two animals we miss so bad greatest dogs we ever had. Buildings looking good foam insulation will go up quick. Thanks for sharing
Good morning Hunter ;-) I saw the first flock of Canada geese flying North over Montreal yesterday afternoon , looks like Spring is finally arriving here ;-) Happy Birthday Archie ;-)
We are all counting but not one at a time. Archie definitely needs to be trained. And this is the right time to do it he’s over a year and he seems to be a very intelligent dog. Early training will bring out the best in his manners hand the depth of what he can be trained for. Good luck archery and happy birthday to you too.
Absolutely do the HF Plate compactor. Similar situation here back when I did a huge paver patio and walk around the side of the house. Also compacted my trenches for the Pavestone retaining walls around the back garden. Starting and stopping as time became available. Would have cost a fortune to rent one multiple times. That was a dozen years ago. I've been loaning it out to various friends and co-workers ever since. Zero issues with it and it worked great. I think it's at a retired co-worker's new house in Wyoming right now. Don't really care as he gets to store it and move it out the way. BTW, buy one those HF wooden dollies at the same time for moving it around the shop. Maybe I'll bring it back to CO one of these days and put it on Craigslist. Watch for sales and coupons, probably save another $100. Keep up the good work. I've got about 900 days left before retirement and hopefully doing a lot more of the things you're doing right now, including the building.
Good morning Mike Melissa and Ty !!! It's 57 in Coastal SC and headed to the low 70's. Moving right along on your building and is looking great. I have a player tamper that I also got from Harbor Freight. Great purchase and have had absolutely no issues or problems except for the weight. It gets heavy after using it for extended period of time. Have a Day!!!
That's a heck of a lot of shoveling, Mike. The insulation work you're doing is much better than my contractors ever did; those ditch bottoms and edges are super clean, which will make that pour really nice, too. Hard to imagine how you could do things any better.
Good morning everyone. 52º in Kansas City now. Overslept again. Heading to Versailles Mo to get my 2nd Covid shot at the county seat for the farm. Stay safe, be humble & kind and have a day.
Your doing just fine mike hard work and ability to do it is thankfull enough ok because gods watching you work so hard its his job tp keep you safe ok so know your a blessed man and a great family behind your motivation ok
Looking Great!! I'm in the process of building a ne 36x48 6-stall horse barn w/future living quarters upstairs. So excited from watching your build. Keep up the great video's.
Good luck with the training once he's trained he will be even happier keeping busy with a job. I've had dogs of all different breeds my whole life and now have a Belgian Malinois that has been the most amazingly smartest and fastest member of my family that I've ever seen
Hey Mike! You also might want to consider purchasing a used tamper. I've had good success purchasing used equipment from rental companies, knowing that I will not be using the equipment very often. Everything I have purchased so far was very well maintained! 👍
Hello Mike- 3”x16” perimeter wall insulation is fine. You need to consider, cutting out 2” in the floor area and install 2” rigid board in the slab. I’ve done a dozen or so houses and works shops like that. One one was done without insulation, the floor hardly gets warm. Rigid foam down, strap tubing on the board and pour 4” inches of concrete. Have plenty of zones, in case of future failure. Good luck. Consider using a outdoor boiler for heater and also install a 150k acoil with blower. It’ll heat it up quick then let the water take over to maintain.
Mike, I cut foam board with a knife like you until a friend told me to get a foam cutting hot wire knife. They are inexpensive. Plug it into 110v, the blade gets hot, lay down a straight edge on the foam, run the knife along the straight edge, and you get a perfect cut very rapidly. With all that you have to cut, it would be a very inexpensive way to improve quality and speed! HF has them as do many other stores.
Always those jobs on a project that require hand digging. Just have to get down and do it. Looking good. Snow is almost gone here in southern Minnesota, and talking highs in the 60’s next week. Spring has sprung.
You know Mike I'm 65 year's old and I still learn things watching your videos!!!!!!!!!
The 4"screws & washers & the jig you made ....that's all GREAT planning. I like how you THINK!
Thanks 👍

Good morning from NW Missouri. Every time I see that dewalt 20v miter saw I want one.
Some Good Precision digging with that shovel, no wonder you wore the tip off over the years.

Going to be in the mid 60's here today and tomorrow! SPRING!!! Coming together, Mike!
Great idea Mike on the 2”4 trick I’m going to try this on my barn this spring when I finish it up
Mike, I went and bought one of them cheap Harbor Freight plate tampers about 14 years ago using I think the exact same reasoning! Lol
That should really help keep your new place thermally secure! Good work, Mike!
@Hello Mike how are you doing
Keep up the great work, it'll be really nice when all finished.
