I always wondered what they were thinking when they put this in the game. Did they intend for you to go through the north path, or was this south path intended but not playtested? Such an odd game design choice where the path the game is guiding you towards is basically a dead end, even with this "chad" strat.
My theory is that this was the intended path, and for some reason the playtesters did not think it was that hard. Maybe there was only one tester and he got very lucky, or was skilled from playing Shadow of Chernobyl.
It doesn't feel that bad for me. Since my first playthrough I always use the covers and it's really not that hard, you just need a bit of luck and patience. Obviously wood is not going to stop many bullets so just get behind the rocks when you can, then at the end run away keeping a tree between you two, and just keep facing Vova Vist(walking backwards) if you need to know where the tree is.
With all the other answers exposed here, you've got to take "historical" context into account: until mid-2000's most games were built differently, used to have clunky controls and features and to be pretty hardcore. If you play games from the 90's-early 2000's, it seems the developers mostly didn't care about player's comfort or avoiding impassable "dead ends"; sometimes they used to add stuff like this on purpose or creating stuff that was virtually unplayable (I think of the race from unpatched Mafia 1 as a peak example). So I guess it was intended and it wasn't a biggy at the time: the player should feel themselves challenged. It's in like late 2000's that the games started to be made to the player's comfort and pure relaxation, even going as far as fast travel, automatic aim, or skipping moments the player isn't able to go through.
It's like they specifically designed the first hour of Clear Sky to make you quit. II replayed SoC and CoP a dozen times each and Clear Sky only 2 times.

This video reminds me about the northwestern passage from Cordon to the Garbage in Clear Sky. I remember on master difficulty the bandits there would aimlock you with grenades and it was as hard if not harder than this machine gunner part. You have to shoot and then sprint jump every second to dodge each grenade volley its quite the sight and I don't remember it happening anywhere else.
Yes, going there alone while being hostile to the bandits is quite a challenge. Hopefully you can remain neutral with the bandits to pass, or wait for the loners to attack the outpost.
If you got the scope from the tower in the swamps, you can fire a couple of shots at him and he will take cover for a brief moment and allow you to get by just in time. That is how I have always done it.
I died a lot to this gun, finally got past it following this Chad way of doing this but also learned you can do a lower crouch so rocks are your best friend trees are useless cover.
I finally got around to playing CS and ran into this part and knew instantly that I could just go north to get around the base. I haven no idea why so many people didn't realize that.
That fact that i never thought about going around had landed me in a gunfight with bandits. Odds are Literally 1-23. Im so pissed i never thought about it.

yeah, to the northern path I go. Thanks, but not doing it the hard way. You just have to do the first side mission the give you at the underpass, if the group leader is by the tank. if the leader is in the tunnel, then they will start shooting when you get near him. So, what I did, was run the fence line, up the hill, next to the train tracks. They don't start shooting until you get to bridge. Run run run to Sidrovich. Then go save Wolf's brother, so you can get a little rep and stop them shooting at you.
run to big rock, then when he stop shoting run. then go to village. turn left and go to base from front left. there is tree near fence, then crossing fence there are objects next to wall you can jump throught. you will most likely have atleast 150 5,45mm ammo. that base is easy to take down. most soldiers wont notice you and even if they do, if you get out of theyr sight, they forget you. i shot them with ak into back and they havent even turned. take their ammo and guns, after shoting whole base take one corpse. give it all the weapons and carry it to village and store those guns or sell them to sidorovich. this way you can get abakan rifle and 500 5.45mm ammo at start of cordon. and they will respawn so you can farm ammo and rifles to sell there. i alwais did it on highest difficulty.
Started Playing this a few days ago and got caught off guard by this, fortunately after the 2nd time I managed to headshot him with an ak (had the arsenal overhaul mod installed) and made a mad dash to cordon
I upgraded my ak: scope, no supressor, max accuracy, single fire. Hit them eventually, they panicked, got a lucky headshot on the gunner when they were between standing and squatting. Had enough ammo to take him out through body shots if needed. It was pretty easy. Obviously I used a pistol and hunting rifle (or noiseless pistol and chaser 13 if I got them) while in the swamps to hold onto the ak ammo from the machine yard. The trick for this method is to stop just shy of the activation threshold. Move forward and to the right just enough to get an unobscured view of the slot in the metal from the crook of the tree (do not move up to use the tree as hard cover). Tap fire the cheeky bastard until they drop for good. Then run, it takes about 10-20 seconds for a nearby mil goon to get back on the LMG. They would have a real reason to shoot at you then but they shot first and didnt arrange a parley. That's on them.
I have a strong bias to precision weapons, the AK was the most precise weapon I could get. I vaguely knew about the gun from meme videos and knew the area from just finishing SoC (sniper 301 inspired this).
I never found this too annoying since i thought that it was a challenge from the developers to the player to make a choice, turns out after i died a few times i just wanted to get my revenge, so after firing almost all of my ammunition towards that machine gunner he finally died and i was cleared to continue on my quest
Normally I'd give this design a "hmm seems like a glitch" as I did this in the dead of night, I was surprised he saw me first time, I thought it was the flashlight he saw first. but no. its scripted. I then tried the quick save cover option, but to no avail. I then discovered the annoying bug of loading a quicksave... as you described.. I then went back to the autosave, and on my first try I did find the hole in the fence and did it first try. I thought this video was gonne be about that fence. and I was right.
I never even knew that you can go back through the swamps to the other passage. Always thought it unlocks only after you travel from cordon to swamps through that passage instead
It always feels good to one day when you have proper armor and weapons to just come back to the outpost and kill all the soldiers there especially the machine gunner, a little payback for every playthrough he made me suffer
Me: Nothing scares me, but the LMG at the checkpoint, it scares me! Also, there's a secret money glitch, step one have 200 RU, step 2 is to break the thing step three, you try to repair it then get a grip for it, this would get you -100 (
I was attacking the base died and reloaded the save then found out that saving doesnt consider dead enemies so i tried running out to loot bodies for meds to realise the MG was back after i got the achievement that says "liquidise the MG nest gunner" or something so presumed he was gone how i was wrong
Honestly that was the easiest part of the game for me. I just hid behind a rock and a tree and waited till he stopped shooting so I could move from cover to cover and get to the stalker base. (the sirdovoich whatever his name is bunker)
ah nice to see how it works.I went back into the swamp and then took the north route which also opens once you set foot into Cordon. But I kinda knew this is not how It's supposed to be :D
So I started playing Clear sky today, and for some reason the northern path is not there. Do I need to fulfill some kind of requirement for it to open up, or did they remove it in a recent update?
I, for some reason, tried sprint jumping behind trees to the right to kill the gunner with some Ak shots. I actually managed to kill or lure him away with stock AK like this, though you get surrounded by them if you try lol
I remember I got tired and said fuck it and did a blitzkrieg and charged at the gunner had shit ton of medkits took the two out in the tower had a long shoot out before they threw two nades because how many people died trying to kill me and died
If you have joined the Loners, you can sometimes buy a SEVA suit from Shilov (loner trader in the Cordon) and both SEVA and exoskelton from Thrush (loner trader in Agroprom). If you are not enemy with the bandits their trader also sometimes sells a SEVA. Lastly, if you still have enough reputation with Clear Sky, their trader might also sell a CS-1 armor, which is probably your best option if you can't get SEVA or exoskelton. The other best armors such as the military SKAT can only be aquired after you get robbed by the bandits. Hope this will help !

I never even knew that you can go back through the swamps to the other passage.
Always thought it unlocks only after you travel from cordon to swamps through that passage instead
I survived the cordon machine gun
Its easy. Just run.
Basically yeah :)
Every soldier in WW1 be like:
Assaulting the beaches of Normandy was easier.
I'm not sure about that one.
@@anomalousdugout9557 just run straight at the bunker they said.
I just went the other entrance. You have to fight at least 6 STALKERs, but it’s way easier.
Just go through the second route from the Swamps to Cordon, I seriously don't get why almost no-one has figured this out yet.
there is no second route, tried it, its a bandit base that kills you just as easily
@@samuelhaverghast2442 Stick to the fence.
I just went around to get pass the Machine Gun since the Military must have hired a hacker who always uses sim bot always got me somehow
Run side to side. Stick to the left. If need to, wait for the machine to stop shooting as you recover your stamina, then haul ass again.
I managed to run behind the teee after turning left and it took all the bullets.
I usually grab an ak with a scope. And kill vova from a distance. It always works for me.
Bro.... worked the first try thank you
I take the Machine Yard route like a first class coward.
very useful! thank you brother
You are welcome.
Its my first playthrough today (2024) and I'm here after an hour of fifjrkng them 1 by 1, lol, im gonna keep this method in mind for next time😅😂
I didn't even realize there was a different route...
I got past it my first try when I saw this I just couldn’t figure out where I needed to go
What about waiting for nighttime?
Rest in piece, Vova Vist...
I got thru by hiding under the fallen tree and running from there spamming a few medkits
Just used this, thanks for the help
You are welcome.
I took the northern entrance into the Cordon. I was no Chad.....
ah nice to see how it works.I went back into the swamp and then took the north route which also opens once you set foot into Cordon. But I kinda knew this is not how It's supposed to be :D
Yeah, but it also works.
I was able to run from cover to cover, pausing in between for them to stop shooting. was playing on stalker difficulty though
So I started playing Clear sky today, and for some reason the northern path is not there. Do I need to fulfill some kind of requirement for it to open up, or did they remove it in a recent update?
If you can get to the first cover behind rocks you can kill the gunner. You might need an ak though.
im pretty sure the point of this was to have you realize whats going on and turn around and go to the north entrance
i got pass by just wait behind the tree for like 10 sec for them to claim down
question. Once you get to cordon through the wimp route... what next? Loners shoot you if you try to cross the bridge
You can pay Sidorovich to arrange your relations with them.
@@anomalousdugout9557 but you cant get to sidorovich, am i meant to shoot them down?
@@tomaszpawlik5091 Take them down or run past them.
Man, I was literally going to uninstall this game before this video. Thanks.
Glad I could help you out.
bro how do i fix the issue when loading up the game and entering cordon? its crashes my game and throws me to desktop
I went to the chad mode since I'm quite impatient
Took me like 3-4 tries
Normally I am using the CS-3 heavy armour by then and it helps a lot... but even then it isnt easy.
Yes, true.
Coming out of tunnel it pitch black getting my ass cheek full of lead 😂
I, for some reason, tried sprint jumping behind trees to the right to kill the gunner with some Ak shots. I actually managed to kill or lure him away with stock AK like this, though you get surrounded by them if you try lol
THANK for the tip man
Damn you, ВОВА ВИСССССТ! 🫵😡✊
I remember I got tired and said fuck it and did a blitzkrieg and charged at the gunner had shit ton of medkits took the two out in the tower had a long shoot out before they threw two nades because how many people died trying to kill me and died
I just ran straight left and survived without uding a dingle medkit
That's the way to go.
bro do you have any info about how to get one of best armor i eant to spand money before i get rob in mission.
I never understood the memes because by sheer luck i made it thru on my first try during my playthrough
