Great commentary on the type of soil to used with black pines. Akadama by itself holds too much moisture so he uses “ClayKing” which is a presifted mixture of akadama and kiryu sand. Of the various sands that are available, kiryu is the best because of its mineral content. I see that he is also using a coarser grade of kiryu sand as the bottom layer in the pot.
