ICC on older cylinders stands for interstate Commerce Commission. They were the certifying body until 1996, before the DOT Department of Transportation took over the high pressure regulation of high pressure cylinders.

This is amazing video. I was looking for a video explaining SCUBA cylinder markings, this is probably the most in-depth video I've seen on the topic

I have a tank that says 0362121UB that is above the presumably original certification date of 10A16 (October 2016). Any idea what that means or if it has been recertified?

    Can a (empty) B20 tank be revalved to become a CO2 Fire-Extingusher?

Thanks a lot for the video.
Would you know what the ZX mean. After the Manufacturing number?
    MO832 ZX 01A21
On this cylinder they engraved CO2 on the bottom, which is cool.
    Thanks again 👍👍👍

There is an ebay seller with an item description, 9oz CO2 paintball steel 2" diameter tanks stamped DOT 3E , never expire or require re-testing. Do you know that to be true? You seem like the right person to ask. Thank you.

Would be wary about that. We always recommend getting checked in advance or buying new tanks when available.

Did you make a video relating to that 20# nitrous tank in the background? I just bought a tank exactly like it and I'm looking for some info on it. BTW, nice video here.

ICC was responsible for cylinder safety prior to the DOT. ICC stands for Interstate Commerce Commission.

so any chance you know what my tank means by its strange designation? dont think you covered it and i can find so little about it. DOT-E 7042-1800-D 32569 WK4A79 (Think the A in WK4A79 is actually a symbol.... read in an article somewhere about the symbol and looks close to mine. am stumped :/

Yes indeed! DOT (Dept of Transportation) -E (Exemption) 7042 (Spec Number) 1800-D (Pressure Rating 1800psi) 32596 (Serial Number) WK (Walter Kidde) 4A79 (Company Code)

@@Cryofx thank you for the reply, typically give up on receiving a reply on these in a week or two after posting. Curious though does the exemption mean it doesnt need to be re tested ever? I think it should be...
