AND just two weeks ago i walked in to a dive shop with 2 of my old tanks - One needed a hydro and of course both an annual visual ... The owner FREAKED out as if I was pointing a loaded gun at him and I was told by a dive shop owner that he would not service my old tanks because they will EXPLODE ! he told me to throw them away ! So I went to another local shop and they said they would gladly take care of them and they should be ready soon ! ????

Hello @diverdave4056, shops will always differ. We no longer handle any 6351 allow cylinders. That being said, we give our customers other options if they choose to keep their older cylinders. One of those options is directing them to a shop that will service them. At the end of the day, safety not only for our customers, but also for our fill operators comes first.

Helpful. I only buy used cylinders & have never seen the pirated date stamp on a hydro. Appreciate the education. I thought the Al changeover was in 1994/1995 so I will check out the other video. Good facts. Currently we have 15 cylinders for the family but most are steel 95’s. I still have 2 steel 72’s I use made in 1975. Still currently passing every 5 years! Scuba gear rocks!

I have several Steel 72’s from the 1960’s, still in service. They are virtually indestructible.

I have sold all my aluminum tanks except for my ponies & have gont to steel lp95's . The aluminum ones i have left are a made into wind chimes & a lamp.

      I like the lamp idea.
