      It's more the people who buy elephant parts that need to be stopped. The poachers themselves are generally in desperate poverty with no way out. If there wasn't a demand for parts of endangered animals they wouldn't be poaching them.

    Poor thing this is so majestic I wouldn't want no one to get near my dead loved one after something like that either if most humans had the intelligence and passion these elephants have maybe we would get along better and not hurt them by trying to put them in a circus or forcing them to perform for our benefit that's why they dont like us just like a dog can sense someone's true intentions they can too

    the visceral sight of a calf's splayed ribs is awful but the most emotional part of this was watching her chase off predators. it serves no evolutionary purpose and if anything her devotion puts her at risk. these are the signs of such high intelligence. what a heartbreaking display of the power of motherhood.

    She wasn't a very good mother--she failed to keep her calf close and protect it. Her baby was vulnerable and nature eliminated the weak and helpless calf. Only the strong and smart survive.

    • @lonebeagle
      @lonebeagle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@curious5887 "...have empathy on the mother elephant."!!!!! That's called anthropomorphism, you're giving elephants human emotional behaviors. It's just a dead elephant and the supposed "mother" elephant isn't mourning or crying or anything. She's just standing there going, "Hmm, I guess leaving my baby there by herself overnight unprotected got her eaten by the lions and hyenas."
      Don't worry, the female will just get pregnant again and hopefully figure out how not to have her new baby eaten. This is how NATURE WORKS! It's a jungle out there and only the strong and smart survive. The weak and creatures without the necessary survival INSTINCTS get eaten and die. That's how only the superior genes get passed down and the species survives.
      This mother elephant probably is on the dumb side of the scale--she is by definition. Her baby was dinner for the hyenas and lions.
      Which BTW, why aren't you happy for the lions and hyenas? They have to survive and eat, too. They're just as important as that dumb elephant. Baby elephants aren't "cute", they don't have any more value than a lion or hyena. The lions and hyenas got a good fresh meal from eating this baby elephant, that is good!
      Now shut up and go read a book on biology and evolutionary biology.

      @@erika6651 That's an elephant, not a human being. Mourning is a human emotion and construct, it only exists in humans. Anthropomorphism is when humans give animals human behaviors and emotions. For all we know, that elephant mother is just standing around dumb as a rock trying to figure out why her baby doesn't get up!
