I absolutely love this. It humanizes people like Vegeta, just how hard he is willing to work in order to reach Goku’s level. It shows different people training at different levels. Vegeta with the gravity chamber, and Goku, piccolo and Gohan training together, as well as Tien and Chaotzu doing their own thing. It gives us slice of life, it gives us tension, and it’s SUPER fun
Toriyama made a sport out of making Vegeta look bad. Giving him this small W was too keep him somewhat relevant. I think Toriyama never got over that his most hated character got close to Gokus Popularity in such short time. Deep down I think it bugged him so he kept him but on his terms. He couldve gone the other route of accepting and respecting a psrt of the DBZ fanbase not being crazy over Goku by giving Vegeta a Major W. Resurrection of F ending made clear that Toriyama still coudnt do this fanservice to a loyal part of the fanbase after all those years. Old stubborn Japanese...

But definitely after the frieza saga and that brief moment he gets to show off his power as a supersaiyan by dispatching 19, he pretty much always gets sidelined right after making a badass entrance

One aspect of the Future Trunks arc in Super that I really loved was seeing the vast difference and improvement in Trunks and Vegeta’s relationship and knowing that Vegeta’s character development from Buu arc to that point was because of Future Trunks (SN: I really love the segment when everyone is catching up with Goku and laughing and joking after Trunks leaves, gotta love DB’s down to earth/ slice of life moments where everyone is together
