I can smell the hidden hatred, first of all, Madrid was not dominating the spanish league. In the 5 european cups won by Di Stefano and Co, Madrid won only 2 leagues, thats why madrid has never won a treble. And in those years, they knockout recognible teams like Bobby Charlton Manchester United in semifinals 1957, Atletico de Madrid in semifinals 1959, and Barcelona in semifinals 1960, (Barca won the spanish double that season) You forgot to mention I guess

I have friends that are longtime Real Madrid fans (for me, being a fan of RM is like being fan of the house at a casino) and I kind of wonder what they're rooting for. It's not about the players, because they change all the time, and their careers (even if they're great) sometimes end with a whimper (Hierro, Cristiano Ronaldo). It's not the uniform, because it also changes a lot (even if its mostly white). It's not nationalism, because the team in recent years barely features any Spanish stars. It's not a longtime manager, because they too are dropped and mostly forgotten, especially if the newest one is a winner. The only thing that has stayed more or less the same is the logo and the fact that they usually win the Spanish La Liga and the Champions League. People are fans of winning teams, but they will come up with reasons why they're not betting on the house. If they find that fun, more power to them.
