That little birthday gesture to Grace….they didn’t really need to do that…but they did…reinforces that all that positive energy behind the time team is real…such a cerebral and yet wholesome bunch…an educational show that makes me smile too…right up my alley..
Phil cracks me up, he's my favourite. Chatting up the old lady "I'd love to have an iron age round house in my backyard" 😂 I think he nearly fell over when she said he should move in 😂😂😂

And the flowers Phil gave to Grace for her birthday, there was a connection there, I'm sure 😉
Phil was always the one who chatted to the locals, showed kids and adults what was going on in his tench and he was good at finding out about birthdays, anniversaries and other important things. He seemed to be the one who always had a kind word or gesture for everyone else. There seemed to be always alot of good natured ribbing between him and the rest of the team.
I wish I could sit with him for a day and wear him out with questions. Blessings, Dot
Everyone on this team has great value add but to someone like me, victor’s drawings are crucial in helping me really visualize what we’re supposed to be looking at. He’s the unsung hero and he’s sorely missed. RIP victor & mick

He has illustrated many books and even has books of just his illustrations published. Not sure how you would find them as I'm an Aussie and he was from the UK. His family holds alot of his drawings from Time team in a trust and allow time team to reuse them
One thing you might be interested in is a time team episode called "a tribute to Victor". It has interviews from the older team members. There is even footage linked to his name and time team hash tags (#) with interviews he did answering questions like why he always drew a black puppy somewhere in each drawing.

I love Time Team. Catching up on shows I didn’t get see, I get a little sad when I see Mick, Victor and Robin in the episodes. So much knowledge lost when we lost these three legends of archaeology and history.
They passed away?! Wow if they did I had no clue....I'm also American so we don't get info like that here. Sorry to that sad news!
It is really sad, but they created an incredible legacy with their contributions to archeology and history, and with Time Team itself. They helped inspire entire generations' interest in archeology and sharing their desire to explore and preserve the past. Time Team is one of those rare tv shows that had an incredibly positive and wide-reaching cultural and societal effect.

@@bryanphillips1432 yes Bryan. He passed away in 2010; three years before Mick. Victor only passed away in 2021.
I kind of quit watching the videos because the bogus time pressure bugs me I take it as assuming we the viewers can't discern the BS.
I feel much better for having dropped the occasional double-pointed knitting needle and gone bats looking for it. Maybe in 5000 years, someone will find the blasted thing.
I love how they incorporate the art of ceramics into understanding history it makes my artsy heart so happy

What serendipity for that lovely old couple to find the ancient roots of their property.
Fascinating! What I also admire are the many other artistic duscliplines with which they bring to amplify their findings: the potter reproducing iron age pottery, etc. In another episode the Roman surveyors versus modern methods. Quite apart the vast historical and archeological finds in the British Isles.
What beautiful little houses and location. Very interesting findings. I love the drawings of what it could have looked like long ago!

I’ve watched every TT episode, all 20 seasons (plus the 2021- reboot) several times, and I’ve decided that this is my favorite. The interactions with Grace, the obvious fun they were all having the whole time. Plus the setting, of course.
I have been following the episodes on YT for only a year. I knew about the series, but never had a chance to actively having a go at it and watch. This is marvelous and this on in particular! Thank You Odyssey.

Awesome work and awesome discoveries. I loved the pottery and firing experiments too. What a wonderful view of beautiful land these homeowners have. And .... drum roll... a modern septic tank sitting inside an iron age round house! Thanks Time Team! Thanks home owners! :-)

I think I'd love living in UK. England especially. I love how green and open the countryside is. The fields with their hedges and stone walls.
I might have an issue with the cold, and the winters, and the mud, and snow, the grey skies and constant rain... After rethinking it, maybe I'll just stay here in sunny Australia. It's green here when it rains and we have beautiful clear blue skies, and a warm breeze. Beaches and swimming pools.
I guess it doesn't matter where you live, somewhere else always seems more intriguing.

@@stinew358 I'd love to spend a year in England. Not a big city, but in the country somewhere. Be a dream come true. I'm about 4th or 5th generation Aussie, but we came originally from England. My mum's maiden name was Oldham. And my dad's last name is Irish-Scottish and the first mention of our name was a reference to the Red King (I suspect Viking). Apparently, 13th 14th century he ravaged the British fleet, burning it to the waterline.
So, I have some kind of history from the UK. Maybe that's why I feel drawn to the UK.
I do wish we Aussies had history like Europe. Fascinating stuff.

Time Team is always trying to raise money to finance their digs so why don’t they put all of the beautiful sketches of every episode in a coffee table book (with enough information to jog our memories) and sell them. I know I’d buy one. It would be a perfect birthday or Christmas gift too for any TT lover.

@@MLife1972 I have a large coffee table book called GHOSTS ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI with pictures and information about the major antebellum homes in Louisiana that I love. That’s what I was thinking about when I mentioned it.
@@YvonneWatson-ff5ex That's a good looking book and I think that would really suit Time Team. I can't recall if the artist stayed with the show because they started using a lot more CGI and animation but it would be a great coffee table book for us fans.

Is it not possible that the henge was a stockade for animals? They did say dairying happened in association with the pottery, the neolithic was the age of domestication and husbandry...it just seems practical and sensible
I live in Australia but my ancestors are from Great Britain. So many of their mannerisms are just like mine and I feel such a kinship with them all.

If that steep ridge blocked cold prevailing winds, and had streams supplying fresh water.......it would have been an ideal place for settlement.

While I love the general archaeology that TT conducts. It’s also the experimental archaeology as well. The trail and error of trying to recreate a piece of pottery from a shard is just as exciting as digging it up.

Don't septic tanks in England have drain fields? And wouldn't the old pipes discovered by the septic pipe line indicate more areas where the ground above it had been previously disturbed and potentially moved somewhere else?

I think it's interesting that in the middle of the Viking calendar there's what appears to be Medicine Wheel. Stone Hinge and all of the stone circles in Europe are likely Medicine Wheels.
This is exciting because it indicates that the Medicine Wheel may be the original spiritual path. To me this is EARTHSHAKING!

The Norsemen did make it to Britain and settled anywhere they wanted. Northwestern Scotland was settled, at one point, by Norsemen. I'm remembering that the Isle of Skye, home of my clan, was Viking controlled, at one point. So Wodin's shrine makes sense to me.

Most of them were actually professionals in the fields of history, archeology, etc, but Time Team specifically, was something they did as a hobby.

Glad to see Tony is still a jerk. He may be smart when it comes to some things, but when it comes to archeology he is a fool. Over the years he doesn't understand that sometimes you find nothing. He expects to find heaps and heaps of things and is a pain if he doesn't. "I expected to find heaps of archeology in these fields and we found nothing.". I am glad Phil set him straight.
