  • Enjoy a relaxing 8 min meditation to the most beautiful waterfalls on the island of Okinawa, Japan.
Be sure to subscribe and watch to the end of the video for links to more comprehensive guides to each waterfall.
This video showcases the following waterfalls:
    1. Hiji falls :
Hiji Falls is a National Park and a popular tourist destination on the island and prefecture of Okinawa, Japan. It is located in the northern part of the island, approximately 20 kilometers north of the city of Nago and close to the national park of Yanbaru National Park. There is an entrance fee of 500yen and toilets, cooking area and drink machines at the camp site. From there the hike in will take you about 40mins depending on your pace and is quite undulating with lots of stairs, so be prepared with enough water and good footwear. There is also the option to trek through the river for a short section of the trail, which I personally prefer as it puts you more in nature, just be aware of slippery rocks and the fact you will get your feet wet. Also, since you are not able to swim at the main lagoon this area gives you your only options for a refreshing dip in the cool mountain waters.Over all Hiji is a great waterfall to visit, we recommend you take your time to really enjoy the beauty of the forest and all the smaller waterfalls along the way.
    2. Taa falls or Taa taki
Taa taki falls is located on the north west coast of Okinawa's main island. To access the falls you will need a car and a good set of water shoes. The hike is 2.4kms long along the Henan river and with no designated paths, you will need to hike through the water and over some small obstacles, although nothing too hard.Taa taki water fall is a beauty to behold, the falls are pretty much a straight drop into the lagoon below, plenty of room for swimming and playing with the rope swing (although do so at your own risk)As the popularity of the waterfall is increasing, so is the impact left by humans, so do your best to leave it as beautiful as you found it and take your trash home with you...extra points for people willing to grab trash left by others ;)
    3. Fukugawa falls
Maybe one of the most beautiful places on Okinawa, this waterfall lies in the very remote part of Nago City. It is probably one of the least known waterfalls on Okinawa. While the hike in is possible on the dedicated trails that offer a great 20-30 minute walk through the forest with some stairs and steeper sections. There is also a great river walk as long as you don't mind a few spider webs and some wet slippery rocks.Fukugawa waterfall has a nice size swimming lagoon and a small cave behind the falls to explore and cool off at the end of the trek. Just be sure to bring enough water and sensible hiking shoes as there are no shops or phone service in the valley.
    4 Todoroki falls:
Todoroki falls or Ice house falls as they are sometimes known are located just south of Nago city on Okinawa Japan.

The falls are the most accessible of all the major waterfalls on Okinawa. A fee of 200yen will get you in and the grounds are a great place to spend a few hours, enjoying the waterfall and the well kept gardens and walking paths. There are plenty of shaded seating areas and much of the park is wheelchair and stroller friendly.
