    .. Have been a tent hiker for almost 60 years ,,, planning on getting a quality hammock system next spring .... Researching a lot of hammocks but not committed yet ... Warbonnet and Superior are at top of the list but still taking in all information I can to try and make a one time purchase .... The Superior Bundle does look like a good way to get set up one and done .... This was a good review ,, still satisfied or other suggestions ..

      I'm still very satisfied with this setup. I'd be super interested in trying a war bonnet ridge runner, but I really like the simplicity of the superior gear. You can't go wrong with either of those.

    Excellent overview of the Superior Gear Hammock bundle. Very interested as I have a ENO and bug net is not built in. This looks way better than what I have now. I just need to start saving my pennies for a rainy day to pick this up. Now following #575!

    Good review. Yes, those tree straps (Hammock Gear green tree strap I like.) Great item overall. Most excellent.
    I like the tarp more simple without the huge doors. I am still trying to figure how to fix the doors on my 2014 Superfly.

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah after using this more having a smaller tarp option would be nice. This tarp is great though if you're expecting a lot of rain as there's lots of room underneath. I did get the doors figured out. I was missing some clips and Superior Gear needed to add those to the tarp. I'll be posting my full 1 year review in a month or so.

    Nice review, thanks for taking the time and effort to do it. Do have other hammocks to compare it to? Would the set up be good for a 6’4” person?

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. I started out in a $70 hammock from Amazon which did the job but didn't have a structural ridge line and what not. This was worth the investment for sure. Superior Gear does have the option for an 11' hammock which might fit you better. I plan to film my one year review soon so stay tuned for that.

    nice review . How much does it all weigh all together

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. My 15F hammock weighs 2.3lbs, the winter tarp is 1.3lbs and my 30F quit is 1.3lbs. so 4.9lbs total. If you go with a 45F setup the weight comes way down to probably the low 3lbs.

    In your review of your kit you mentioned the the Whoopie slings are similar to the Helios. Do you have the Helios? The reason I ask is my friend has it, likes it a lot and bought me one. I haven’t used it yet namely because I have the Superior suspension system which is albeit heavier and (I admit I’ve got it twisted before and have on occasion not had it set right and I fell) and from your reviews and others I have seen in regards to whoopie slings in general one has to be more particular with the trees they use. I thought if I had the whoopie sling from Superior I wouldn’t have to get carabiners or a toggle like needed for the Helios either. Care to touch on that?
    Very, very nice setup up by the way. Especially yeah that porch is enormous.

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do also have a set of Helios straps. The webbing on the sling from Superior is a little shorter than the webbing on the Helios. I want to say like 3' shorter, so not much shorter. You're correct in that you don't need toggles or carabineers with the Superior sling which is pretty slick. However, both times I've been in the woods with the Superior sling I've opted for the buckle. I tend to struggle to find the right trees to work with the Superior sling. As of now they just stay in my pack as backups. I'd be a little nervous to head out with just the Superior sling or Helios.

    • @MrBalas3
      @MrBalas3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SignalOutdoors Thanks for replying back. Interesting that you say that the Superior Sling is a few inches shorter than the Helios cause the Helios package say 8’1”1” while Superior says there’s is 12’ with 4’ tree huggers. I must be missing something in the description 😆

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrBalas3 Yeah no problem. I'm talking specifically about the length of the webbing that goes around the tree. The over all length of the Superior sling may be longer when you include the whoopie portion. I zeroed in on the webbing length as that in my opinion is what's limiting.

    • @MrBalas3
      @MrBalas3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SignalOutdoors Oh gotcha. We were backpacking this past weekend and to make it longer my friend brought his daisy chain Eno straps. I was just thinking he’s just having to bring now something extra for it to work. Where’s the ease of setup lol with whoopie and negating the weight savings too. I kinda wonder about just doing a double Becket hitch knot or J knot with a strap being the lightest. Granted that’s not as easy to adjust your hammock height as easy as buckles or whoopie sling.

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrBalas3 That would work and probably be the lightest option. It's all just personal preference I think. I'll take the hit on the weight when it comes to the buckle straps.

    Just a lame advertisment. You show the underquilt but it is not part of the original 600$. You can do this for much cheaper, and better.

    • @SignalOutdoors
      @SignalOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I showed how you can use the top quilt as an additional under quilt to double up the insolation on the hammock. This would be useful if you bought 45F and wanted to make it warmer in the winter. There are cheaper options no doubt. Just sharing gear that is standing out from the crowd. Thanks for watching.
