I bought the 124017 version 2, there is no cogging but still a quite bad latency.
Which component would you recommend to correct that and reduce the latency ?
(Changing the ESC (for which model) ? Changing the remote and receiver (for which one again) ?

Yeah completely agree. It's the one negative of buying from China. They aren't really bothered in most cases about customer service as they sell many to make a profit!
Glad they sorted it out but they should definitely give the people the version 1 at the bare minimum the upgraded electronics so they can upgrade them, and for the few who might not be confident enough to do it themselves/kids a complete exchange for the version 2, glad to see you back buddy 👍

I wish they would start making replacement parts for the 104009. I broke a front c-hub and when I went to look, they don't make parts for it. It seems to be a popular rc so, I just don't get it.
Oh that's just not right. I'll take a quick look. Did you know that the 104009 is basically a wltoys 12402-a? So parts should fit from what I have been told.
Please just double check shape.

I'm trying to put a 3650 in my 124017 , just curious if you know what gears I need to purchase to do so . The stock one is to small I need to go up in size a bit .

Hiya. What specific buggy? The 104001? While it's slow there aren't really any issues. It does drive well and handle well. But it is screaming for a faster brushless system. I did hear they were planning on releasing a brushless 104001 which I hope is true. 😊👍

So what is transmission distance?
Good morning. We drove it on a second battery after we stopped recording and it's longer than the other models like 144001 and 124018. It states 100 metres but I drove it further than that without a problem. Its pointless me actually measuring exactly as it depends on the area being driven, the buildings around, the ground type, battery condition etc. So if I stated it can go 124 metres then I run the risk of upsetting people when they only get 110 due to various reasons which is why I just show that its so much better than the version 1. Hiya. I could yes, but hadn't thought about it. It's an easy decision to be honest. Both are roughly the same. So if you drive mostly on tarmac then the 144001 or mostly on gravel and loose surfaces then the v2 124016 is the best choice. 😊

Hey John. Im upgrading my 124018 to brushless, and i change the pinion to 15t (smaller) to overcome cogging issue. also change the spur gear.. and now it produce some "strange" sound everytime i push it.. and now the spur gear is broken... do you know what i did wrong for gear setup? I also change motor mount..
My upgrade
Brushless motor surpass hobby 5200 kv
Esc 60a
Pinion gear 15t
Spur gear upgrade to metal
Motor mount change to custom made (find it online)
Hiya Alvin. I would say personally that the 5200 kv is very high. I personally have a 3900kv in mine and it has great speed but enough torque to handle the weight. The higher you go you gain speed but loose torque. Not enough torque and the motor can't push the car along you see. Also what strange sound? Wow I'm glad your back.. Your my go to channel when it comes to wltoys especially when fixing their common issues.. Your guides are on point and very helpful.. got both the v2 of 124016 and 124017.. all I can say is that they are the best cheapest rc car on the market.. I did speed test the 124017 and got 74kph all stock..

@@JohnRobinsonRC may be because I live in a tropical country and I think it is the perfect condition for the lipo batteries. I taped my phone in the rc car because I dont have gps speed meter and that's what I got.. the speed run was in my channel if you want to check it out. I also did test it out in a 120c 3s battery and man I dont want to attempt to tape my phone on it, I'm pretty sure my phone will get wrecked if the run failed haha.

Hiya. I don't own a HBX 901a I am afraid, however I would say how rough is the area that you plan to drive on? If it's very rough then the HBX looks best. If it's a mix between rough ish and tarmac then the 124016 is best. Make sure it's version 2 though. Plus the version 2 124016 can go at over 90+ kph on a 3s battery. ☺️👌
@@JohnRobinsonRC I don't want to focus on a single area, I want to use it everywhere I want, actually I wanted to buy 124016, but they said things like it is not suitable for offroad. Also, they said that there is a delay problem in the remote control, so I turned to a little hbx.
That's why you need version 2. Version 2 has no delay and I have several videos showing the 124016 handling the rough terrain with ease. On sand. On long grass. On gravel. No issues at all. But the version 2 is the important part. I'm not sure how the HBX will handle tarmac. I put larger diameter tires on the 124016 and it went 95 kph on 3s batteries I think. ☺️
Great video, good to see you've recovered John! The V2 looks good, if/when I convert my brushless 144001 to a 28__ size motor, I'll probably use the motor mount and pinion that the V2 vehicles use, Wltoys, sell those mounts and pinions! 8:27 Strange things happened there...

@@JohnRobinsonRC My brushless 144001 never does that stuff...maybe because I drive at half throttle, and I don’t drive in Malta, but mainly on smoother streets (I’m a bit picky about off road conditions unfortunately!)!
