It was the first that I was able to actually beat in one sitting. Most Zelda games I’d get lost or tripped up while playing, but this was simple for me to figure out. The Link’s Awakening Remake and Majora’s Mask were the other two

I have that OCD connection as well, diagnosed and all, of those negative connections. Dan actually sums it up very very well, but for me it actually goes both ways. Both in a bad way, but still. There’s the way that he described, something positive eventually becoming negative the more connections you make from it There’s my other way where something negative can become positive, but in a way that still makes it negative. Example being like, “I know running into a trucks path will likely hurt a lot, but it’s a truck. Trucks move around the country. Trucks likely go to London, where I grew up. I had a happy memory of my childhood. Therefore doing this is a good thing.” Like I’ve now learned to be all “no no it’s isn’t tf” but it’s still a weird like, role reversal
i am in the process of getting a diagnosis for what we currently think is OCD, thanks to Danny it opened my eyes that something wasn't right. that episode changed my life.
That episode helped me as well, I convinced my mother to let me go to therapy and learned I had some major trauma to deal with. As a kid (from 4 to 10) I had Petit Mal seizures and, with the medication, I had to experiment with for a while. Trial and error kind of stuff. When I had bad reactions 9 times out of 10 I would have lucid seizures (and experience everything that I otherwise would have been "unconscious" for) or I would have vivid hallucinations. We found a medication that worked and my seizures eventually cleared up but for a good few years I experienced complete hell from the trial and error drugs. When I was around 18-19, 8 or 9 years seizure free, I started having panic episodes where I would see the things I used to hallucinate as a child. I stayed irritable, I was having trouble emotionally, wasn't sleeping cause my dreams were vivid as hell, and every time I panicked from stress I would be thrown into unexplained horrors from my childhood. Well, turns out I have some major PTSD. But it's crazy to think that ,about 2 or so years ago, I randomly decided to binge the Grump's Zelda playthroughs and hit episode 19 of windwaker and it made all the difference in me buckling up and going to a psychiatrist.

This playthrough, specifically it was when I watched this exact compilation like, two years ago when I was able to determine I needed to go to therapy because of how much a break-up destroyed me mentally. I'm so much better now, and recently I wrote an essay about that experience in class, I thank both the game grumps and you for putting these episodes together for why I'm so much happier today
without a doubt their absolute best playthrough. It's just SO good man. I have clear memories from my early adult years watching these guys. I bonded with a girlfriend over this. This was the first series I saw from them and it was before I even knew what Danny looked like.

Listening back to Dan's story about his ADD medicine really hit home. For two years I've been on antidepressant medicine, not bc I was depressed but because I had a anxiety disorder which made me not wanna eat anymore. Up to the point where I didn't feel hunger at all, even if I ate one apple in one whole day. Lost 18 kilo's and now gained 16. I'm so proud but as Dan said, it really evens things out. For me it was the feeling of constant panic which I couldn't control anymore. When that feeling left, I immediately started downing food like crazy bc I could without feeling I was gonna die. Best decision of my life!
Arin saying that Tetra becomes uninteresting when we find out that she's Zelda is super unfair. Just because she didn't respond to the news of being the royal heir to a long lost kingdom with a sassy wink and a quip. She was probably too shocked that she got an innocent bystander all swept up into this adventure that might as well kill him to properly react. She is still Tetra the pirate captain. The next time you see her, she's asleep in Ganon's lair and she dreams of the ocean. She's a pirate and her ancestry doesn't change that. She's still awesome!
