SSS-rank Suicide Hunter gets an S tier from me mainly because it touches on darker and more abstract concepts by using the floor bosses and has a much deeper philosophical meaning than Solo Levelling ever did while still having great artwork (both are Redice studio I think). The character development for the MC specifically isn't so one dimensional and his returner power actually comes at a considerable drawback that enhances the world building.

For solo max I was actually pretty happy with the description. I’m reading it rn, have 4 chapters left and I like it more then solo leveling bc the side characters are better imo- the ppl he chooses on his team all kick ass and protect themselves minus one random girl a few times but she’s still strong as hell so I guess I don’t mind her as much as some others- overall rlly interesting read and super exited for future chapters

Omniscient reader's viewpoint is an easy S tier for me. Lone necromancer is decent too. It got a unique art unlike others. At first the art made me back up a lil then after few ch. it made me hook up to it and then its a roler coaster of decent and mid so I think its B- for me
i think what solo leveling did right despite being quite "generic" (the genre, if not created well, becomes super generic), is that until mid season 2 sung jin woo actually had some difficulties, he still had to use his brain to win, differently from most of these ones, that in 10 chapters the mc becomes completely invincible or something, and not just that, sung jin woo is a very good person as we see (spoilers ahead) during the whole manga that he actually cares a lot for other people and in the end he goes back in time just to make sure that no one was affected from the monsters, and despite being basically a god, he chose to live a slice of life anime with his family, again, different from most edgy mcs, who are basically assholes who dont care about anyone but themselves and are always "oh my god, im So EdGy, I AlWaYs dEfEaT mY eNeMiEs In A seCOnD etc etc"
Ye, I definitely agree that solo leveling 1st half is a high A tier, maybe even S tier, but towards the end it starts to feel like a bunch of cutscenes.
I think only last chapters before the final arc were bad, but this arc is fixing what people got mad so i think 93% of manwha is amazing, but its my opinion
@@SolOliveira2 solo leveling is like a 7/10 to me. It's hype, the artwork is great and the fights are good but everything else is subpar. The character development and worldbuilding are bottom tier and the side characters are so bland and uninteresting. The love interest is there solely for the sake of it and every character that's not jin woos enemy just sucks him off at all times. I want to like Jin woo because of the cool things he does but he's boring in every other aspect of being a main character. Also you can't forget about the stakes, of which there are none. At least in the beginning he was able to struggle, even if it was half-assed.

The guy is literally the typical op main character gets stronger from the bottom destroys every enemy, hates the gods goes back in time to fight the gods. It was enjoyable but genuinely not as good as other manhwa.
Yeah it's kind of gone downhill, hasn't it. I think the original novel it's based off is infamous for ending badly so I guess it can't be helped unfortunately
lone necromancer is an easy S-tier, great differentiantion with his mobs, an interesting world mixed between zombie apocalypse and a gamelike genre, the character are cool and the comic relief doesn't make me cringe. is also still pretty early but is scaling well enough. pls give it a read, and I agree that he has a different artstyle that I personally enjoy
dang honestly you're right but as a professional no life i was hoping a little inside me that frozen player returns and leveling up alone had a high rating frozen player returns just because i like that the mc is an expert for a good reason, like captain america style. I also liked that it had a clear goal (light novel) and progression and the double life actually makes sense leveling up alone because the art style is unique for manhwa and the setting+world building was really unique
I have so many trashy guilty pleasures I should really re-think my life lol Yeah it honestly sucks when manhwa adaptations are kinda lacklustre compared to the LNs - I feel like there's a lot of pacing issues that come up here and there. @@itswooj for me its about b-a tier, but it gets topped by some that have a more fresh concept or ideas for the stories, and my no.1 so far is survival of a sword king in a fantasy world i recommend it, and second is sss class suicidal hunter just because its more serious and focuses on the affects of regression while not overdoing it also have good pacing for me, and my third is solo leveling

Other good ones are like Return of Mount Hua Sect, Player (mixed feelings but i guess it's still good?), That heavenly demon thing on flamescans (forgot the name), Lookism (VERY LONG chapters 1-250 are good after that if you enjoy pure action then keep on reading, I just read it because I wanna see everyone react to MC's development), Second Life Ranker because, it's just good, Overpowered Sword (because I like hardworking MC's like Asta from Black Clover utterly annihilate the arrogant people )
Not sure if I would call these a "rip-off" per say just the same genre.There have certainly been a few rip offs that undoubtedly copied aspects of solo leveling but most of these are just similar settings. I've read all of these and they are about the same but so enjoy the different aspect of them
I agree with you - that's why I put "rip-offs" in the title with quotations - but yeah, they follow a general storyline that's been proved to be a tried and trusted formula, which sometimes gets a lil stale

thanks lol I've got a bit of a love-hate relationship with the lone necromancer - overall the story isn't bad but it suffers quite a bit from "the gamer" syndrome. The main character finds some new buff or reward etc. randomly constantly: pair 4 skeletons? buff! new item? buff! new party member? buff! This gets tiring quickly as there's no build up for the release, and whatever the main character does is the correct answer - very much like the old-school manhwa "the gamer". It has a lot of potential so it's very annoying to see it be so close to being great.

uhh second life ranker has a novel and when you read it you go damn that's a lot of characters, overall author was confused about romance and shit but still executed it well so S- for me if we count the novel, current manhwa tho B+ or A- and the art is carrying
I think the only one I disagree with would be Lone/Solo Necromancer which I would put at A+ rank. The art is really unique and good, the enemies are surprisingly uniquely designed, characters are interesting, story is cool and the post apocalyptic/gamey theme actually is done very well. Even putting it at C is a stretch 1) The art is unique not good 2) Enemies are uniquely designed but are extremely poorly written 3) Characters are interesting for first few chapters but then they become just like your typical Manhwa, where side characters don't even know what is going on, the concept is indeed very cool and unique but it is extremely poorly executed and poorly written (It had a lot of potential), sometimes it feels like the only one gaining powers were those Skeletons which his skills are, he doesn't focus on his own strength or rather story doesn't focus on his real strength, and it became so repetitive and boring like how he was getting two skeletons then leveling from quest or shit then again two skeletons and it goes on and on The theme is cool but again it is extremely poorly executed and lastly yes the novel came before solo leveling but putting it as A+ is totally absurd as you are putting it above Solo leveling, I mean even Solo Leveling becomes extremely repetetive and boring but the fighting and action scenes are top tier whereas Lone necromancer fight is very basic where he doesn't engage in the fight whatsoever but his ugly looking skeletons do and their action scenes are not even half as good as Solo Leveling's

I have this interesting idea for a multisekai. One of my more convoluted brainstories. Thinking of calling it Majutsu-shi to mahōtsukai. A demon lord plans to take over the world. A hero spoken of in prophecies, Regalos, is born and trained to slay him. Our hero is able to defeat the demon lord, but before he can be finished off, he casts a dark curse that resets all of Regalos' skills to 1. On top of that, he transformed him into a woman to cut his physical strength. Regalos is unable to swing -his- her holy sword and as such is forced to leave the demon lord behind to recover. The kingdom people are devastated. A large number of them who put their faith in Regalos, now sink into despair. One mage hasn't given up yet and decides to make the risky move of summoning a hero from another world. A man with a blank slate for a personality steps forward through the gate created. The woman begs him to save their world, to which he accepts. The strange man, named Saiko, had powers they had never heard of. He could fly, generate electricity and levitate his surroundings, all with a single chant, magical item or familiar. This man was just the man to finally beat the demon king, but there was one little problem. The demon lord offered his only daughter to Saiko as a wife in exchange for mercy. He didn't return, and when the people found out the so called saviour was mardying the enemy's daughter, they were rightfully furious. They turned their anger towards the mage who summoned him, banishing her through the gate she opened and making her unable to come back the same way. The mage, Lily, was stranded in a world where magic is simply a fairy tale. Initially, she started to accept her new life, but then a poster caught her eye. It was a stage performance. A man named Magnus the Magnificent who could use magic. Lily started looking for him, as a plan to get back to her world formed in her head. Convince this Magnus person to open a portal to the other world, help him to defeat the demon lord, and gain the respect of the kingdom once more. Unfortunately, Magnus wasn't as magificent as she'd hoped. He was retired after an accident took his right arm, and he didn't have enough to pay off his house. Lily was starting to lose hope, but then she remembered something. It is possible to make plants grow lost branches with healing magic, and the plants would producing some magic of their own afterwards, so maybe if she grew this guy's arm back, he'd be able to use magic as well, and then she could train him to open a gate to her world. Lily offers to grow Magnus' arm back and teach him real magic, so he can do his shows like he used to and pay off his debts. Magnus accepts, given he has no other options. The spell takes effect almost immediately, and he feels an odd energy flowing through him. A wave of the hand conjures up flowers from thin air, and a deck of cards floats into place at a mere gesture. Real magic is pretty convenient. With this, Magnus and Lily become partners. She teaches him how to cultivate his magic, he gets to do magic shows better than anything ever before, and he keeps all the profits. All he has to do, is practise dimensional magic until he can perfect a gate. He's not told what it's for, but the benefits are too sweet to question!
I've actually read most of these, and I have to say, just read the novels; they're far better and have way more character development. An issue I've noticed with the manwhas is that, for some reason, they suck all of the personality out of the characters. In the novel, Jinwoo is actually pretty emotional and tends to silently panic, yet the manwha portrays him how other characters would see him, not his true thoughts. :/
That's what I've heard before actually! Quite a a shame that the adaptations are so... soulless. Feel like the personalities (in the manhwas) are just so homogenous lol. Feel like I'll have to give the novels a read now haha
second life ranker is of suprising quality. although it slightly drops later in quality it takes an interesting turn on the genre and is refreshing, the main characters abilitys arent similar to most other manwhas and is written pretty well
personally My favorites here are player who can't level up and kill the hero. Albeit Solo leveling got me skyrocketing to find and read more manga manhua manhwa. Because I began to realize with solo leveling and the others have literally no soul. I literally could not care less what happens to them because they don't have any character in them. I think the main part as to why is that they just don't lose. The reason why I like these two is because the mc is a killer sociopath trying to set the world back to normal and actually has to go against a technically stronger sociopath who basically made his organization through wicked means. And player who can't level up is carried by the personalities of his ego's being very entertaining and generally the world build up for climbing the tower hasn't even started yet for him. He's mostly just in politics rn which makes me optimistic for the future.
Solo glitch player didnt feel like a solo leveling rip off to me but rather just a town/kingdom building isekai reincarnation. Also im pretty sure solo leveling wasnt the first to introduce player like status windows and portals and what not, just boost the popularity of them
yeah sl wasn't the first but it's popularity really boosted the genre, hence why some of these feel like variations of them I agree sgp is a slightly looser fit ahah but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to point out the absolute travesty of its late season artwork

FFF-Trash Hero is A+, especially good after the 5th and 11th resets where the plots significantly change and you see that the story’s overarching plot was always more cunning than you expected.
“Return of the frozen player” is really good A-S tier for sure. No bullshit “I know the future” or time travel. Characters are very compelling, For example 5 heroes who MC was a part of and tries to de-frieze are no bullshit professionals.

Out of all the "rip-offs", I started reading a lot of them, for like first 10 ch or so, some 30-40 or so. I liked most of them at the start, then most fell off. I just like solo leveling and max level newbie now. Solo leveling for obvious reasons, and max level newbie for artwork, and that the story still feels like it has a red line that goes in a straight line. And not up and down or go up high and then slowly fall off.
That's the thing - they all usually start with neat premises and twists to the genre/trope but then they fall short when the world building/characterisation actually has to come into play, which is quite upsetting.

Honestly I’m glad that level up with the gods is high up, I love it, but I don’t think the art work is “okay,” I love the artwork and I think it looks phenomenal, I personally would have put it at S, it’s one of my absolute favorites
Frozen Player is a definite S from me. I value it's consistency and his end goal being just waking his friends up from the frozen curse. Outside of battles he just goes back to the museum and sit down near his frozen friends and have a drink. It's very, human. And I like that. Lots of personality in that story imo. And the whole system of world levels is really fkn great imo. First level is earth 2nd level is like a fantasy world with guilds, adventurers and shit, it's actually really good. So much potential
Second Life ranker is not a rip-off, novel was released less than a year after Solo leveling was. Also the "MC knowing where everything is" has a very good explanation if you get to chapter 300+ and the knowledge isn't offering real omniscience, so hard disagree on that one. The story and world building is also tiers above Solo leveling, but I guess the manhwa wasn't able to encapsulate that, alas. Other than that, the other ones were pretty much on the money.
I know this is off topic but TBATE is honestly and I will confidently say, is the BEST manwha novel adaptation series. The novel is godly the comic is basically that godly novel but adapted into a comic version and the art for it is insanely good
Yoooo Max Level Newbie literally had the same panels as Solo Leveling sometimes. He even did the same, sort of iconic, pause that Sung Jin Woo did where he held his dagger over his shoulder. That was wild to just randomly see in the manhwa.😂😂😂
Second life ranker actually came before but was on hault for while as this genre was not having traction. But yeah solo levelling helped this author to arise from the slumber as now they do are releasing chapters continuously. Lol
Unfortunately I loved solo leveling so much I read half on his list. I would binge read with hopes it would do it for me, but always disappointed. I just dropped them.
I think its safe to say half of these aren't even rip offs, just following common tropes in korea the same way isekai is a trope in japan, Dungeons, towers, and regression have and probably always will be popular (though some are clearly copied like max level newbie) things like SSS-class suicide hunter is in no way a rip off, its honestly even safe to say if its art was better, it would just be better completely, the story is deeper, the characters have more depth, and the world seems a lot larger in both the sense of the tower compared to dungeons and how the different settings and events take place in korea as well, It's just that solo leveling was so good at a time where the trope was falling off that now we're seeing more and more because of the light solo leveling shined on the common trope
Lone necromancer is cool but after the mc starts to get really strong you start to realize the story is kind of aimless. Like the apocalypse setting is cool for a while but watching him and his 2 friends walking through the same backdrop for 90+ chapters starts to get to your head after a while. They don’t even bother to think of “ when is this going to end? “ “ or how can we turn the world back to some sense of normal? “ they just sort of, power level…forever
i read the novel and that one is good so i'm happy to not know your pain... btw it does have an end in the novel opposed to some of the other mentions in this vid
i'm ngl i actually enjoyed reading kill the hero. the storyline wasn't all too mind numbing like much of the other isekai reborn-in-games that i've read. plus i like the authornim's artstyle. chef's kiss xx and level up with the gods is good too, but i'm biased because i love mythology but my brain was reduced to mush while reading it and all i could think was "haha hercules hottie"
I can remember what happened when in Kill the Hero and I feel like it’s actually going somewhere, which is more than I could say for Second Life Ranker when I dropped it last year. Kill the Hero’s scope and focus has been well defined and it’s stuck to it which makes it a lot easier to hang with than Second Life Ranker introducing some new way to make MC stronger every single arc and the constant setting up without payoff.
It's funny because I couldn't cope with the SL copies because their artstyle usually mirrors Solo Leveling's, and Lone Necromancer stood out of the rest because of it to me and it's the only one in this list I didn't drop
Sorry, but Solo Max Level Newbie belongs, and I can't believe I'm saying this, much higher on the tier. Especially over Gods, unless it got a lot better. I still don't get why people feel the need to shite on SL's MC or story just because he isn't an emotional wreck. That's like hating on Golgo 13, Vampire Hunter D, and several other stoic MC's.. from the 80's too, I guess.
Don't get what peoples issue with his emotions too, like it was very clearly shown or explained he eventually lost some of his emotions from the killing/fighting/leveling up
Solo max level newbie seems like a copy of both solo leveling and omniscient reader and the point of the MC remembering everything makes sense in omniscient reader because the guy has a fast reading skill(one could say the skill is plot convenience but i digress) whole in the rip off has nothing like that as far as I know
i feel the need to point out solo necromancer while i personally don't enjoy that one as a story it's not the same concept, like everyone levels up there it's just this dude is unreasonably lucky which in this case leads to the story being kinda unenjoyable for some like one is a "the one who levels" and then "this dude is getting plot armor conceptually" that's not the same flavor of story
The fact that I’ve read all of these and pretty sure caught up to them says a lot about how I miss solo leveling. Gonna miss it even more once the side stories are over.

My biggest pet peeve with a lot of the Manhwa is how they obtain more skills I liked that Solo Leveling kept it simple like this is what he gets. Some of the ones on the list will have a main character acquire a large amount of skills that no one is gonna remember like dude can be fighting an ice monster than pulls out a fire spell when did he learn that? Oh in chapter 42 well we're on chapter 120 and he hasn't used fire since than.

Not sure if I would call these a "rip-off" per say just the same genre.There have certainly been a few rip offs that undoubtedly copied aspects of solo leveling but most of these are just similar settings. I've read all of these and they are about the same but so enjoy the different aspect of them

I've got a bit of a love-hate relationship with the lone necromancer - overall the story isn't bad but it suffers quite a bit from "the gamer" syndrome.
The main character finds some new buff or reward etc. randomly constantly: pair 4 skeletons? buff! new item? buff! new party member? buff! This gets tiring quickly as there's no build up for the release, and whatever the main character does is the correct answer - very much like the old-school manhwa "the gamer". It has a lot of potential so it's very annoying to see it be so close to being great.

If SSS class suicide hunter was on this list I would personaly put it in s or s+ tier but that is just my personal prefrence
I think the only one I disagree with would be Lone/Solo Necromancer which I would put at A+ rank. The art is really unique and good, the enemies are surprisingly uniquely designed, characters are interesting, story is cool and the post apocalyptic/gamey theme actually is done very well.

I have this interesting idea for a multisekai. One of my more convoluted brainstories. Thinking of calling it Majutsu-shi to mahōtsukai.
A demon lord plans to take over the world. A hero spoken of in prophecies, Regalos, is born and trained to slay him. Our hero is able to defeat the demon lord, but before he can be finished off, he casts a dark curse that resets all of Regalos' skills to 1. On top of that, he transformed him into a woman to cut his physical strength. Regalos is unable to swing -his- her holy sword and as such is forced to leave the demon lord behind to recover. The kingdom people are devastated. A large number of them who put their faith in Regalos, now sink into despair. One mage hasn't given up yet and decides to make the risky move of summoning a hero from another world. A man with a blank slate for a personality steps forward through the gate created. The woman begs him to save their world, to which he accepts. The strange man, named Saiko, had powers they had never heard of. He could fly, generate electricity and levitate his surroundings, all with a single chant, magical item or familiar. This man was just the man to finally beat the demon king, but there was one little problem. The demon lord offered his only daughter to Saiko as a wife in exchange for mercy. He didn't return, and when the people found out the so called saviour was mardying the enemy's daughter, they were rightfully furious. They turned their anger towards the mage who summoned him, banishing her through the gate she opened and making her unable to come back the same way. The mage, Lily, was stranded in a world where magic is simply a fairy tale. Initially, she started to accept her new life, but then a poster caught her eye. It was a stage performance. Lily offers to grow Magnus' arm back and teach him real magic, so he can do his shows like he used to and pay off his debts. Magnus accepts, given he has no other options. The spell takes effect almost immediately, and he feels an odd energy flowing through him. A wave of the hand conjures up flowers from thin air, and a deck of cards floats into place at a mere gesture. Real magic is pretty convenient. With this, Magnus and Lily become partners. She teaches him how to cultivate his magic, he gets to do magic shows better than anything ever before, and he keeps all the profits. All he has to do, is practise dimensional magic until he can perfect a gate. He's not told what it's for, but the benefits are too sweet to question!
I've actually read most of these, and I have to say, just read the novels; they're far better and have way more character development. An issue I've noticed with the manwhas is that, for some reason, they suck all of the personality out of the characters. In the novel, Jinwoo is actually pretty emotional and tends to silently panic, yet the manwha portrays him how other characters would see him, not his true thoughts. :/
That's what I've heard before actually! Quite a a shame that the adaptations are so... soulless. Feel like the personalities (in the manhwas) are just so homogenous lol. Feel like I'll have to give the novels a read now haha

personally My favorites here are player who can't level up and kill the hero. Albeit Solo leveling got me skyrocketing to find and read more manga manhua manhwa. Because I began to realize with solo leveling and the others have literally no soul. I literally could not care less what happens to them because they don't have any character in them. I think the main part as to why is that they just don't lose. The reason why I like these two is because the mc is a killer sociopath trying to set the world back to normal and actually has to go against a technically stronger sociopath who basically made his organization through wicked means. And player who can't level up is carried by the personalities of his ego's being very entertaining and generally the world build up for climbing the tower hasn't even started yet for him. He's mostly just in politics rn which makes me optimistic for the future.

Out of all the "rip-offs", I started reading a lot of them, for like first 10 ch or so, some 30-40 or so. I liked most of them at the start, then most fell off. I just like solo leveling and max level newbie now. Solo leveling for obvious reasons, and max level newbie for artwork, and that the story still feels like it has a red line that goes in a straight line. And not up and down or go up high and then slowly fall off.
That's the thing - they all usually start with neat premises and twists to the genre/trope but then they fall short when the world building/characterisation actually has to come into play, which is quite upsetting.

Frozen Player is a definite S from me. I value it's consistency and his end goal being just waking his friends up from the frozen curse. Outside of battles he just goes back to the museum and sit down near his frozen friends and have a drink. It's very, human. And I like that. Lots of personality in that story imo. And the whole system of world levels is really fkn great imo. First level is earth 2nd level is like a fantasy world with guilds, adventurers and shit, it's actually really good. So much potential

Second Life ranker is not a rip-off, novel was released less than a year after Solo leveling was. Also the "MC knowing where everything is" has a very good explanation if you get to chapter 300+ and the knowledge isn't offering real omniscience, so hard disagree on that one. The story and world building is also tiers above Solo leveling, but I guess the manhwa wasn't able to encapsulate that, alas.
Other than that, the other ones were pretty much on the money.
I know this is off topic but TBATE is honestly and I will confidently say, is the BEST manwha novel adaptation series. The novel is godly the comic is basically that godly novel but adapted into a comic version and the art for it is insanely good

I think its safe to say half of these aren't even rip offs, just following common tropes in korea the same way isekai is a trope in japan, Dungeons, towers, and regression have and probably always will be popular (though some are clearly copied like max level newbie) things like SSS-class suicide hunter is in no way a rip off, its honestly even safe to say if its art was better, it would just be better completely, the story is deeper, the characters have more depth, and the world seems a lot larger in both the sense of the tower compared to dungeons and how the different settings and events take place in korea as well, It's just that solo leveling was so good at a time where the trope was falling off that now we're seeing more and more because of the light solo leveling shined on the common trope
And the max level returner has a completely different premises
Lone necromancer is cool but after the mc starts to get really strong you start to realize the story is kind of aimless. Like the apocalypse setting is cool for a while but watching him and his 2 friends walking through the same backdrop for 90+ chapters starts to get to your head after a while. They don’t even bother to think of “ when is this going to end? “ “ or how can we turn the world back to some sense of normal? “ they just sort of, power level…forever

I can remember what happened when in Kill the Hero and I feel like it’s actually going somewhere, which is more than I could say for Second Life Ranker when I dropped it last year. Kill the Hero’s scope and focus has been well defined and it’s stuck to it which makes it a lot easier to hang with than Second Life Ranker introducing some new way to make MC stronger every single arc and the constant setting up without payoff.
It's funny because I couldn't cope with the SL copies because their artstyle usually mirrors Solo Leveling's, and Lone Necromancer stood out of the rest because of it to me and it's the only one in this list I didn't drop

My biggest pet peeve with a lot of the Manhwa is how they obtain more skills I liked that Solo Leveling kept it simple like this is what he gets. Some of the ones on the list will have a main character acquire a large amount of skills that no one is gonna remember like dude can be fighting an ice monster than pulls out a fire spell when did he learn that? Oh in chapter 42 well we're on chapter 120 and he hasn't used fire since than.
Leveling with the gods and Kill the Hero have are pretty good. Kill the Hero in Plot Leveling with the Gods in worlds building and lore.
