As Above, So Below: Dakota Perspectives on the Night Sky

This video introduces Dakota cultural perspectives of the night sky associated with the Mississippi River and Wakháŋ Tipi, the sacred cave near St. Paul, MN, (also known as Carver's Cave). The video features Dakota Ethno-Astronomy Professor Jim Rock and Wakháŋ Tipi Center director Maggie Lorenz with animation by Dakota artist Marlena Myles. It is excerpted from the documentary Northern Nights, Starry Skies, co-produced by CGEE and PBS affiliate WDSE in Duluth Minnesota.
