@@benjudbass How were you getting that sound? It sounded almost like slap bass, but you weren't slapping or popping it. Was that a patch on the foot pedal you were using? Great playing...!!!
Dude certainly has chops for days but this song is about groove and his overplaying totally kills the vibe. Listen to the live version with Keith Carlock if you want to see what chops AND groove feel like!
This piece was so spacious...where each instrument and voice has room to breath...excite...then move on through the crispness of slight improvisation well tasted and true! Great Job Guys! A+++++
This is the first Steely Dan cover that I have truly enjoyed. The original work's production is so definitive that only rarely can a group manage to add anything of value....but these guys have managed it, from every single player. The contrasting guitar voicings work together in a way that I would not have expected. Outstanding job by everyone in the room!
Steely Dan is in my opinion the best band ever so, to cover a masterpiece like Josie takes a lot of work, skill and delicacy. excellent Martin, the band is truly flawless. Having here my total hero Mark Lettieri is the icing of a wonderful cake. You are doing something we are not going to be able to repay my friend THANK YOU!!!!!
i dont play the guitar and know nothing about music as a musician, but as a listener...martin miller is unbelievable. the whole band is fantastic. i cant believe im saying this, but martins solo here is even better than on YYZ....which i thought would be impossible!!! wow.
You guys definitely should do a Steely Dan medley... I would gladly wait for it. They have so many amazing pieces you could put together! Well done on this!
WOW! Mark is the personification of groove... And Martin solos are stunningly perfect. Felix is so good! All the band is amazing. Musicianship at highest level. You have to do a world tour...
Something about German Musician's ya just can't beat, so much study, talent, soul, I mean Beethoven was a Giant just a few too mention, Martin miller and these world GREAT's makes me glad this studio musician in USA is German rooted.. Man you guys rock every song everytime
Brilliant. But of course, you know that. Keep it up. There are some of us musicians out here, well not really musicians, guitar players, who really loved this stuff.
I too found Martin through Troy Grady and of all the guitarists and musicians I've been turned on to in the past decade, these sessions are the most lucrative for my soul. I've listened to them all so many times now. These sessions are my most played playlist in my car, my computer and my phone...
I've been listening to a lot of Aja lately, it honestly may be my favorite album of all time, and I love hundreds of albums. It's so awesome to see a cover of this track, and it's done very well.
I wish I could give this a 1, 000 likes. This video makes me want to play right now ...but it's 1 am in NYC right now. Plus i spent about 4 hours total yesterday with my first semi hollow FIrefly 338 Cobra Burst flamed maple guitar . When i wasn't playing noodling or actually practicing with it. I was just staring at it because it is just soooooooo beautiful----just like the way all of you played on this amazing cover of an iconic 70s song. Great job guys😎🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎸
I first listened to this song without headphones and liked it, but was not blown away. When I listened for a second time this morning, I had headphones and was blown away with how good the sound quality was! Shoutout to the bass.
WOW, WOW, F'ing WOW! Being a pretty serious musician myself this blew me away. Just gotta love when supremely talented people just gel and turn out work like this. Simply awesome guys!
Don't know what to say, goosebumps! This song was written and performed by the best musicians in the world and they totally pulled it off while doing their own take on it. Respect!
Mark Lettieri is a musical genious! Martin and all the other band members are awesome musicians, but Mark is in his own universe when it comes to guitar playing.
I think you guys found the perfect band to cover given the talent/style of all of your members, and how they tend to express as they play. Steely Dan encompasses a group of serious musicians with a sound that drips of nothing but pure class, and you guys captured that effortlessly. Thank you!
Pretty sure the drummer Felix Lehrmanm. haven't seen him in a while. German drummer played for Meinl for a while. The dude is dope. One of the things I love about him is he has some funky ass pocket beats.
I'm pretty sure all of the original muso's from Steely Dan would be blown away with this rendition of heir classic hit. Superb musicianship and passion by all involved. Felix on drums is a monster!!
YES!!!!! Crazy crazy good as always!! Are you kidding me, that guitar solo that Mark does is insane!! Thanks to all of you for sharing your talent with us! You guys are awesome!!
I knew full well that Mark Lettieri was in this vid, yet I was not at all prepared for the amount of funk he brought to this song. Good job guys, solid jam!
Mr Lehrmann on drums is right on point despite obviously dropping in from his day job at the delicatessen. Reminds me of that weedy little guy on bass at my brother's wedding, who looked like an accountant (big '90s glasses and all) but tore up I Wish like a boss.
Martin, your vocals are on point 👌 Also, awesome choice to have Mark on the baritone for this one! Adds an interesting funk element. I love it. Great take on one of my favorite Steely Dan tunes. Well done.

Mark is hell of a funky man. I wonder if he made this solo in first shot
Benni is a beast. I've never heard someone lay down lines THAT solid while singing. Easily one of the most inspiring bands out there today
🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
@@benjudbass How were you getting that sound? It sounded almost like slap bass, but you weren't slapping or popping it. Was that a patch on the foot pedal you were using? Great playing...!!!
@@The_Doc_Rocks He's definitely using compressor there plus something else. Also baritone guitar adds to the mix a lot.
@@The_Doc_Rocks Pure magic
@@kipanshi I used the DI track we recorded and ran it through a bit of distortion in the mid to high frequencies.
The rhythm section is insane. The groove. Wow. Bass player and the drummer are the highlight here. Incredible.
The sound of the drums is insane and so clean
Drummers a total BEAST.

...... Steely Dan is timeless. Excellent rendition by Miller & his homies. If these guys ever tour? I'll be there.

So so good. Benni, I don't think the average person realizes how hard it is to play a bass line like that and sing, you made it look so easy!

Badass. I loved the interplay between Mark and the bassist during Mark’s solo.

Mark Lettieri was outrageous on that octave solo.. straight crazy !
Mark Letter I: Funkiest guitarist in the game...🔥🔥🔥
After this brilliant performance I actually had Josie come home
Wow! Mark "the beast" Lettieri. Awesome guys!
WOW! Mark is the personification of groove... And Martin solos are stunningly perfect. Felix is so good! All the band is amazing. Musicianship at highest level. You have to do a world tour...
And Felix. Skillfully holding it all together. Solid foundation for the other guys to work on.
Lettieri . What a beast

Sean Fitzpatrick nice! Yes I think they’ll be one of my most played as well
Agree - sounds like HD. Talent amazing
That’s where I discovered Martin too. Been a huge admirer since that moment.
this band is out of another world! sick bass, epic guitars, a hammond organ from heaven and a clockwork on the drums! genious!
There is so many cool perfectionists people in music hence these guys
I've been listening to a lot of Aja lately, it honestly may be my favorite album of all time, and I love hundreds of albums. It's so awesome to see a cover of this track, and it's done very well.

Incredible groove the drummer takes it to another level
Complete with the strangulated voice of Donald....great rendition, thank you, loved it so much:)
War damals schon meine Lieblingsband und gehört immer noch zu meinen Top Ten.
Marks groove and time are frightening!!!! He is so dialed in ...and the rest are awesome too!
Some of the best drums on this tune ever... Wow!!! Bravo!
You can't ever have too much Steely Dan!
Too right. 45 years already and I still never get bored.
I first listened to this song without headphones and liked it, but was not blown away. When I listened for a second time this morning, I had headphones and was blown away with how good the sound quality was! Shoutout to the bass.
This bass groove makes me wanna dance.
How the bloody hell people can dislike this! It was just delicious! Long live to the Martin Miller Session Band!
Easy .. over playing verses the original .. they killed it there way though. 👌✅
WOW, WOW, F'ing WOW! Being a pretty serious musician myself this blew me away. Just gotta love when supremely talented people just gel and turn out work like this. Simply awesome guys!
Ridiculously brilliant drummer
Such a sweet bass line, and I love how you always make use of each singer's natural strengths depending on the song.
Heh Josie, its your song!
I sincerely thank you for your wonderful music.
Every person in this video is an absolute beast.
Unbelievably detailed if you really sit back and listen , Martin you all absolutely blow me away !
Among many greats, my favourite cover here.
My god I love those guys playing all those nice things so good and musically. As a drummer I specially enjoy drummer Felix! 👍
One of the most talented bands ive ever heard much love from England
Don't know what to say, goosebumps! This song was written and performed by the best musicians in the world and they totally pulled it off while doing their own take on it. Respect!
Tone monster tour de force. Everybody clicking like nobody’s business . Love the baritone solo! Just a terrific rendition of a great tune!
You guys should cover "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago! Like this comment so Martin and the band can see it
The bass player is off the chain. They all are. Love the jam.
Benni Jud is freaking amazing. Vocals and bass playing OUTSTANDING!
at last.........the song that deserved a quality cover by your band.......THANK YOU
Great musicians playing a great song. Brilliant.
Mark Lettieri is a musical genious! Martin and all the other band members are awesome musicians, but Mark is in his own universe when it comes to guitar playing.
The cover was pretty good but I shed a small tear when Mark started his solo. DAMN that was funky
This is one of the very best covers of any song I’ve ever heard! Monster musicianship!
Benni is amazing as always. I have seen Steely Dan many times and this does justice to what they aim for.
You would die happy if you ever played in a band that good...!

A masterpiece for master musicians! Wonderful. Much respect!
Just amazing. A perfect version. A perfect group.
Mark Lettieri is incredible...
You are all excellent musicians, but, man, how huge is the drummer
So pocket. Tight does not go far enough.
He steals the show on almost every video.
He drives the band, so pocket.
Pretty sure the drummer Felix Lehrmanm. haven't seen him in a while. German drummer played for Meinl for a while. The dude is dope. One of the things I love about him is he has some funky ass pocket beats.
Pocket deeper then a stitched up trouser leg
Steely Dan - you cant go wrong. Great choice.
Damn! How refreshing,.. in the swill of these times! Forgot about everything for a moment, Thank You!
Just sublime. Love it, love it, love it. Everyone is at the top of their game here.
Gtr solo 1 hit the changes with perfection. Hats off.

Would love to hear these guys live! 🥰 They keep the respect to the awesome original, but also do their own thing.
at 2:32 starts one of the best guitar soloes i've heard in 2020.
Ya I agree - whole band is so damn good..
KS Marks solo is also damn good.
I love this band, all are great together
@@michaellang4699 yeah but Marks solos are always damn good so didn't wanna state the obvious ;)
Another amazing cover!! Incredible musicianship.
That overlap between bass and baritone is next level!
Man...Mark Lettieri is out of this world creative (stunned)
last time i've heard and incredible played baritone guitar like this was on 95' Joe Satriani's self titled album. Mark Lettieri is the man!
Best cover Band ever 💪🏼💥
Absolutely awesome!! Great band, great musicians... Drums and lead 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Admire his band. Tight to the n3xt universe
Mr Lehrmann on drums is right on point despite obviously dropping in from his day job at the delicatessen. Reminds me of that weedy little guy on bass at my brother's wedding, who looked like an accountant (big '90s glasses and all) but tore up I Wish like a boss.
From my FAVORITE ALBUM EVER... Play the whole album!! Great cover!
Aahh yeah Mark Lettieri is the man!
That baritone solo by Lettieri with that backing on the drums by Lehrmann is one of the funkiest things I've ever seen...
