  • Harpers Ferry, WV is the most preserved historic town we have ever seen... well it should be since it is a National Historic Site! It is amazing to see these preserved buildings set up as shops as they would have been back in the 1800s. We walked up to Jefferson's Rock which is where Thomas Jefferson stood on a cliff and said this is one of the most beautiful places he has ever seen and the view is a reason to cross the Atlantic and come to America!
This town also stands at the point - literally called The Point - where West Virgina, Virginia and Maryland meet... also were the Potomac and Shenendoah Rivers meet. It is a beautiful spot!

Harpers Ferry is my MOST favorite historic town. I grew up in Western Maryland and, in the summertime, I would attend a camp called Camp Manidokan. At some point during the week at camp, we would walk to Harpers Ferry and spend the day. I remember, each time, I went, I would try to get a rabbit's foot at a little store that I dont think exists there anymore. My husband and I actually went to Harpers Ferry on our first date and attempted to hike to Maryland Heights...the mountain with the faded advertisement on it. I love riding the bus from the visitors parking center to downtown and listening to the history and John Denver's song being played over the loud speakers. There is a place near the old general store that you visited that has stairs that ascend up to the upper floors of the building and up those stairs is a recreation of what a bedroom would look like back in the days of the civil war, complete with a mannequin that scared the crap out of me the first time I went up the stairs lol. You used to be able to go in the catholic church, I've been in there before. Not sure when it stopped accepting visitors. One of my favorite places in the town is where you were standing at the Point overlooking the river when the train was going by. Definitely a beautiful spot. If you ever go back to Harpers Ferry, you'll have to do the ghost tour.

Sorry that you missed out in PA. Next time your up this way, the best place to camp is the Hershey area. It's 45 minutes from Lancaster ( Amish Country) and an hour from Gettysburg.

I’m sad you didn’t get to do anything in PA! We go to a local resort that we call a “cruise ship on land” it’s called Pocono Palace in the Pocono Mountains here in PA. If you ever visit PA again, please check it out.
We did enjoy your RV vlog.. I just found them last night. I plan to watch all of them.

The opening scene of this video made my heart skip a beat! I have driven that road so many times! I lived in WV for years and consider it my second home. Thank you for showcasing it so beautifully! My first husband's aunt use to make that potato candy and even though it was SO sickly sweet, we loved it. Safe travels!

What a cool old historic town guys thanks for the tour! When I lived in Ocean Springs MS. I lived in a old historic house. Down the hill and over the creek from Highway 90. But there was a train track up there and it sounded like it was at my back door. when I first moved in. So it kept me awake .. I was so tired cuz I was working a lot of nightime hours at the time. But after a while I started embracing the train and it would actually lull me to sleep 😆

If you would have made a left into the town and another left to go to the parking near the train station you could park their for free. If its not to packed though. I live a few miles from there and go hiking there weekly. Another fun fact is that the Appalachian trail headquarters is in Harpers Ferry.

I really enjoy a good road trip and one of the best things to do is visit and explore old churches and graveyards. I like to imagine what the people prayed for in those old places of worship and then visit the graveyards to wonder if those prayers were ever answered. What an amazing journey you had and I thank you for taking us along. I wish you and your family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and hopefully a much better 2022.
