    It had been my tram going to Deakin uni and city for 2.5 years. I am back home after my graduation. My heart is touched when I am watching this video. I feel like I was on your tram bring me back to Melbourne. Miss Melbourne badly. Thanks for your video

    Wow what a trip. Loved it. What dumb drivers we all have these days. 30:12 No trams in Kansas City, Kansas where I live but across the bridge in Kansas City, Missouri they got 2 but expanding in their city next year to more. Doubt I will ever see them here on this side of river. I do see lots of trains out my window daily with 13 tracks. Amtrak goes thru in morning and once at night that's it. Would love to live in your city. Awesome transportation day and night. Keep the great videos coming. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels for you ahead. God bless.

      You've got an awesome location if you can see trains outside your window. I think drivers are just too pre occupied these day as well which explains their stupitidty.

      Some of the stops are ridiculously close. I measured one around 90 metres apart from another. The further out you go the more spaced out they get.

    The subway overpass curving at 9:00 closely resembles the Van Buren St/Wells St portion of the Chicago Loop. However, the difference is that the rest of the loop from what I gather is underground.

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The overpass is a link between Southern Cross & Flinders St Stations. All lines in Melbourne are overground except for the City Loop which does not connect with this section of track.

    Nice video! Would love it if you could sometimes put stations or current streets on screen (sometimes the sound is not good enough for that). And it's interesting to see that San Francisco is not the only place where a car will pull right out in front of a tram/lrv/bus.

      I think it's actually a GPS issue. From my experience, the slower the tram runs the earlier the announcements work. The Combino announcements work very well so it's interesting the announcements can't work as well on other trams.

      Improved signalization could help the car traffic, too. Some apparently don't have sensors to detect where there are - and aren't - cars, and lights on through routes should be coordinated so cars don't hit one red light after another. And let the trams through ahead of turning traffic!

    Hi Schony, long time viewer and first time commenter. Thanks for your work both as a tram driver and uploader! Have you noticed a difference in your ability to run an on-time service with the recent (beginning in March 2019, I believe) trial of C-ITS priority on Route 75 trams?
    It's something I'm particularly interested in as a daily passenger out to Deakin. Additionally, would you happen to know if there's plans to expand the rollout of active priority; and if so, to make it so that trams always get priority in light cycles even when running on time? (understanding of course that this may be confidential information you're not able to publicly discuss)

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm actually a Southbank Driver so very rarely drive the 75 these days. From discussions I had with others, the trial wasn't much of a success and was discontinued. Given more time and better priority I think it would have worked well. It's difficult when you're dealing with VicRoads and local councils as well.

    • @resipsaloqu1tur
      @resipsaloqu1tur 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Schony747 Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty disappointed to hear that - I was pretty excited that the trial might herald DOT introducing absolute priority across more routes. It's extraordinarily frustrating to watch single-occupant vehicles go sailing through while the packed tram I'm sitting on waits at a red. Here's hoping the political will to prioritise PT manifests somehow, sometime soon!

    How is that a car can just take a u-turn on the road right in front of the tram, just as the tram is about to leave from its designated stop? A nice ride through Melbourne though with its happening night life.

    • @Schony747

    I noticed that this is a Camberwell depot route but you've mentioned that you are based at Southbank. Do they 'loan' drivers to other depots when they may be short on drivers (for whatever reason) like they do with trams?

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally it's covered with overtime but from time to time other drivers who know the routes are asked to help out as well. Drivers aren't loaned out that often these days.

    It seems nuts to have the trams stopping in the middle of the road and people having to cross the road to get on and off. Do the cars on the road have to stop as well so they don't run people over, i.e. no undertaking the trams?

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's so archaic and it's all based on the old cable car network. It's slowly changing as we get more separated tram stops from the roadway. It's still a problem with cars still passing trams on a daily basis.
