This did not work for me but I will tell you what did in case my situation fixes someone else's...it had to do with it being connected to my apple watch via bluetooth. I turned off bluetooth and immediately started getting the notification sound on my lock screen with the notification. I turned on bluetooth and it went back to silent. So I went into the watch app, toggled the whattsap notification to off then back on and this fixed it. Weird but that was my fix.

I used samsung mobile phone.. my whatsapp in notification remain on silent even if i changed it and this make my phone to move on silent mode when receiving call
All this is broken after the update to iOS 17 no more sound notification David work only if you have checked show lock screen or show in notification center but if you do not want to be shown or locked screen or notification center, you will not get the sound
My alerts recently stopped, it happened to some friends too around the same time. I have tried everything in your video but it has not changed anything. I only hear an alert if a particular chat is open and someone writes to that chat. I receive no sound alerts when a chat is closed or when the app is closed. Strange!
@@TrevorNace I have checked everything, even uninstalled and reinstalled several times. It is when I am reading a WhatsApp message from someone and leave the screen live if they send another message while I’m not looking I have no idea that they replied unless I check later

My does not work if my phone is locked it only work if my phone is unlocked
