    Thank you very much your the first that I have seen actually show how to connect a logic probe to the project.

    Testing big pcb with TTL works fine if power it up, and measure with voltmeter and pullup from 10k, and again with pulldown 10k. All measurements between 1.5 and 3V are suspect faulty. I use this in 1980.

    With this works on like vintage electronics likes solid-state transistors in circuit

      No, not really. It is indicating TTL or CMOS voltage levels only.

    So .. can I plug my tester on a 12 vdc line for power? Mine is made by radio shack. I think I blew it up thinking I can plug it to a 12 v source.. I was checking a cb radio processor and used the main power

      No…no. TTL and CMOS voltages are typically 3.3-5v.

    I’m still quite the novice so, I have this chip I’d like to test. It’s a 315-5700, I couldn’t find much info for it, but I do believe it runs on 5VDC. So, my question is: Do I set my logic probe on TTL or CMOS? And, is there a trick, perhaps involving the voltages the chip requires, that could help me know whether I’m dealing with TTL or CMOS? Any insight would be awesome. Great video, btw - make more! Thank you kindly

      The best way to identify CMOS vs. TTL is to look up the part number. There is an IC numbering scheme for logic chips that can help. As you get more experienced you will start to notice patterns in numbering, part usage, pcb layout, etc. I start with TTL if I am unsure. However, a multimeter might be a better tool since it can show you a much larger range. Unless you know it is a logic chip I would use a multimeter.

    At about 4:05 you say, "You can hear...". Those of us that are hearing impaired don't "hear" it. Are there led's on the probe.?

    • @StuartPatterson
      @StuartPatterson  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, most probes have leds so you can see the level of the signal.

    STUART PATTERSON, I have seen other techs take the logic probe and short out two or more data lines or data inputs to troubleshooting IC chips, what is this called? or have you done this?

    • @StuartPatterson
      @StuartPatterson  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I have never seen that! Let me know if you find that it has a name, technique-wise, I am interested.

    Yeah yeah. Many internet pics show to us A6 & A7 - are the PORTC pins. But they accordingly to data sheet may work only as input. So there is no any whole port available on nano board.
    So there is no any whole port available on nano board. And for bus data line you forced to split data byte and send it by splitting on differents PORTs out pins
