Moeller does the best interviews could listen to him all day, he must go about his day rolling his eyes constantly “dude you have signature bars” haha comedy gold.
I could listen to Chris all day . He's such a good guest . And I dig what S&M and fit are doing . Love the new additions to the team and the videos he just always seem to have a finger on the pulse !
My favorite dude in BMX. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS BACK. SO many times i checked out unclicked on spotify only to be bummed there was one episode per decade.
I wish you’d have him on more often. I also wish that you’d have more industry leaders on because it’s fascinating and informative to us who aren’t sponsored, who don’t get to regularly talk to sponsors or heads of bike companies who don’t get to hear about THAT side of the sport. We’ve all seen a million rider interviews, and yes, Chris is a rider, but you know what I’m saying. This was another great episode. 🤘🏻
I have an order in with one of the custom guys, and although I am sure the frames are amazing often the communication is very poor. I am waiting without and reply from the builder and purchased an S&M frame in the interim and couldn't be more pleased with the experience and the product. I would like to cancel my order but likely will not. Love S&M and Chris Moeller's passion for the BMX culture.
I traded a guy a set of handlebars for a pair of Elite Bmx wheels. They have sealed bearings and are shocking well made. I mean I cant comment on their completes but the whells I have are really sweet.
Jeremy Alder was doing barspins on quarter pipes in 87/88. Likely the first to do it. I don't know how I remembered that. I had to go look it up after I posted that.
This was super interesting. He's absolutely right about the shipping container situation. That's exactly what went down at my company. Literally from $2k to $20k. That's roughly what we're paying right now. Rough times
Im glad the homies at Circuit BMX are core bmx. They are my local spot and do it the way Moeller talks about.. bikes gets built until the floor display is jam packed.. those kids walk in and its like the classic candy shop scenario.. on the flip side, I can see where generic Bicycle stores are anti bmx.. general bicycle shops cant see any profit off of a grungey bmx dude when a full kit Bianchi will satisfy the bottom line over any 20".. moral of the story.. core bmx shops will be the backbone
I never comment on youtube. I've just seen this I'm shocked about the comment on Chris Doyle getting hook up with a new S&M sponsor to be honest its about time i recently went back over dvd's that he has rode in and my rating of him went straight back up go watch any dvd with him riding trails or park even street he deserve it still riding after all these years still got it. real trails rider shredder silky smooth aint that what S&M is all about S&M ADL !!! (all day Long) stockwell forever.
How can you start a conversation in saying costs have risen 10x despite paychecks not increasing and in the same conversation, shit on the idea of shops offering up lower quality, lower cost bmx bikes? The financial barrier to entry was cost prohibitive for a lot of people to begin with, which is why Hyper, GT, Schwinn, Mongoose, Haro and other Walmart-price range completes always had a market. The first frame I ever legit loved was an S&M Black Bike, broke the frame and was able to talk to Sean McKinney (the famous guy from Video 4!!!), explained I was doing a wall ride and had the top tube crack, he understood how I explained what I was doing, and the description of the break and he sent me a replacement frame. It reinforced why I love S&M but it also highlights a HUGE problem. BMX experts that know their shit isn't found in a bike store...searching "bmx shop" by me returns results where there's a 50% chance the shop doesn't even carry bmx bikes and, if they do, it's only completes, no components and they can't offer ANY guidance on anything.
Worth a second conversation. Love the discussion on paying athletes especially with the bad press when Specialized got blow back for dropping their influencers. At the end of the day you’ve got to justify you are selling bikes.
you guys should really consider twitch. having the riders interactions with these interviews would catch alot more momentum. People want to get involved and ask questions directly. What if you had Montana on the chat ? Dennis, MAKE IT HAPPEN!
As someone who supports riders being paid properly, Moeller totally won me over with how things probably should probably be done better over monthly salary and I fuk wid it. Makes sense for a lot of reasons
Moller did bus drivers, not bar spins in 1990. Super rad, but a totally different animal from a bar spin. Jeremy Verhurlst was the first person to do a Truck Driver. He did it at Rampage in 92. Both of the Alder brothers did bar spins on vert in 1987 or 88. Bob Kohl and a few others were doing 1/2 bar spins on vert as well. 1/2 bar spin and landing with your bars backwards is WAY harder than a full bar spin.
" I sponsored him for fun!" That's the kind of guy that owns and runs his own business that as a true bmx rider you want to be involved with!! This was as good as his 1st interview boys, good stuff!
I’ve been riding and building bikes on off since I was like 14! Started with fixed gear and this year started messing with big bmx! I was raised in a poor household in south central Los Angeles, with a lot of friends who also didn’t have money, even our shitty cheap bikes would get stolen. All the expensive cool brands are dope af but shitting on the more affordable brands is kinda lame, especially when your talking about shipping bikes from overseas(guessing china) and passing along the freight charge to customers, spending ton of money on marketing and getting upset because some kids go buy more affordable bikes lol I’m 6ft 300lbs and I have yet to break anything on my 26 inch bmx from Elite lol bent a couple sprockets grinding my fat as down rails but that wasn’t anything due to quality haha in fact Elite even reposted me several times making me feel connected with them in a way I haven’t with a lot of other really marketed brands. There’s been hundreds of times I go to bike shops looking for specific parts I can’t find, imagine walking into a empty bike shop that only sells 5 different complete bikes, and a couple overly priced parts you don’t need to really replace , but then again it’s my opinion lol we’re not all riding the same seat😆
Dude is an OG for sure his wife Melissa is really cool too she got me hooked up a little bit cause of a small mishap I had with a fit order. That was pretty cool. She actually followed up with me personally. Had no idea it was the owners wife at the time but now I do 😂 she did say she oversees all the orders and gave me her name though. that’s how hands-on they are. I Respect it. I wish Chris would talk a bit more about his own come up experience starting out a bit more. I’m sure he’s told the story many times though. He does get into the business aspect a lot for me but that’s also his wheelhouse so I get it
Fort Indiana Indiana had Summit city bicycles until Trek bought them out two years ago, they had lots of fit and S&M parts hanging on the walls before they sold out now is horrible it’s not a enjoyable shopping experience. They have a whole wall of just bicycle lights and another wall of helmets but barely any BMX last times I was there
Happens to the surf shops too. Whichever brand is owed the money eventually changes the name/logo of the shop and the owner starts working for them to pay back that debt.
Remember my S&M baby blue Stricker 21" with European BB. That frame was so awesome. Wish I still had it. USA-made forever. USA kids need to be able to dream of being fabricators and welders one day if they are more into that kind of work vs. "emotional labor" work or other "people relations" kind of work. We have to make stuff here and buy it, as no one else worldwide will to enough a degree since we cost more with our higher safety and other higher living standards other countries' industry leaders/governments skimp on for their workers.
Lol I never heard of them until now and they look better than what I rode when I was a kid and cheaper too! Love my SandM so clad they are still around.
PLEASE stop interrupting your guests!!!!!! I was gonna bite my tongue because usually y’all are flowing with the guest but it screwed the flow of this interview up in my opinion. (Fudger this is for you)
I would personally love to run 1 S&M store in downtown SanDiego. I got into a little trouble in 1993 at my high school because my caps logo looked like this; S&M HAT .
True that, and Moeller even said possibly Barspinner Ryan who was doing em around the same time as Butler. I mean I saw DMC doing 1 and a half bar trucks in Feb 92 at a Sprocket Jockey show.
@@stewartjohnson1232 most likely accurate Stu ......I miss the 80s/90s BMX. I'm from Cincinnati and used to ride everyday with Bischoff and Mat Pohlkamp. Absolute legend. He and Rick invented Midschool. Love that they are still riding and in it deep
Rick needs to be on here
Factssss
Rick needs to be on. Seen every era of BMX from the start.
I never thought about it like that, but damn- they really did shift the business and culture of bmx
Imagine mid without s&m,standard and hb :(
always good to hear from the President of Biking
Riding. Biking sounds like people who wear spandex. Remember we had Ride bmx, not biking. Mtb had a magazine called BIKE.
The BMX community really needs to listen to this. Support the sport. Support local shops. Support fellow riders. Support your sponsors!!!
I could sit and listen to this man tell bmx stories all day, absolute legend in the industry.
All the YES! As an older rider, I really like to hear Chris Moellers insight and stories. Thanks!

I'd love to see some of the custom frame builders in here. Rick moliterno, John Corts, Mike Laird, or Mike from Dutch customs would be awesome.
I have an order in with one of the custom guys, and although I am sure the frames are amazing often the communication is very poor. Love him. Love his products. Love what he does & has done, within the industry.
Great listen. Much love guys!
Everyone has a strong opinion or story about Chris. This doesn’t make him good or bad, this makes him a legend.
I grew up watching chris and the dirt brothers kick ass. Legend indeed….

Amazing, Chris, never change. Totally agree, work for your money
Chris Moeller is getting my write in vote on the next presidential election.
Another great episode.

ya this to be able to keep riding really says a ton about a bmxer. i know I've fallen off coming from midschool.
Remember when s&m riders wore airwalks and pumas ? ….. yeah I’m that old 😂😂😂
Moeller is a great story teller, always an entertaining listen
Bring back the yellow Holmes and Dirtbike. It will be a hot commodity for sure. Base it off the Credence frames like Doyles.
Why wouldn’t they just make different geo? Why do 2/3 versions of the same thing (just different decal)?
love the conversation at ~24:30 - its how I want to do my shop, 3-4 brands I love, small park, build the culture!
Make the Frame, encapsulate the controversy and make it an example of how S&M handles business.
In Moeller we Trust
55 right here and I am going to ride BMX until I can no longer get on a bike. So what, another 25 or 30 years? 😅
We need a Mike Aitken interview 🤞
Do a podcast with Rich Hirsch or Bruce Crisman or see whatsup with Davey Watson foreals NW OG's🙌
I'm almost afraid to hear what's going on with Davey.

shout to Dennis for mentioning TJ’s. Where my Bmx crew at?!
Chris is a great guy never forget what he did for me my first time out in california. S&M is one of the best. Sick handle bar mustache ha ha
Thank god for the few core shops like Mr bikes n boards.

Chris on S&M is the best thing it made me want to get a bike again am S&M yellow .
