Most of us have never, and hopefully will never experience a life and death close call, me included. It’s not something that you would want to happen to you. However, they do happen, and those who experience it are always thankful to be still alive to tell the tale. From manatee messing with a girl to a shark attack that was broadcasted on live television, here are the 10 most dangerous close calls at sea. Let’s begin:
Number 10. Girl attacked by Manatee
Manatees are large gentle mammals who spend their time lazily drifting and swimming through slow-moving rivers, bays, estuaries, and coastal waterways. A gentle manatee was doing his thing and floating leisurely through the warm Florida waters when he happened upon the spring breaker. Thinking nothing of her, he floated past and kept on the lookout for any potential plants to munch on. However, the girl became unnecessarily hysterical and frightened by his presence. She flailed around desperately looking for where the sea cow had gone.
A selfie-stick she took along for her swim captured the moment as well as the panicked expression that spread across her face. At one point she shouts “Oh my god, get me out of here” after which nearby friends on a boat tell her “It’s behind you.” The girl continues her desperate escape away from the mammal and looks to be struggling as she swallows water and flails around helplessly. If anything, she posed the greatest threat to herself at the time, not the poor manatee. In her blind fright, it looks like she induced her own panic attack and practically starts to drown. Amazingly, through it all, she managed to hold steadily onto the selfie-stick and keep it focused on herself. Which works out for everyone viewing this short clip and the girl’s entertaining run-in with the gentle sea cow.
Number 9. Shark Surprise
David Woodward, who was surfing alone off the Bluffs Campground in San Clemente, was out on his longboard testing his GoPro for the first time when he captured footage of the great white shark swimming in the wave behind him. In the video, Woodward said a great white shark suddenly appeared in a wave and was swimming about 10 feet away from left to right in front of him. Then we can see Woodward furiously paddling to the safety of the shore. We can see the great white shark in the water directly behind Woodward in the video. BUT he did not realize the shark was still near him until he saw this footage later. It is crazy to think that a great white shark was so close to him in the water. Thankfully, nothing happened. Woodward wrote that he did not believe that the shark had any bad intentions, but the curiosity displayed by this particular shark was disconcerting.
Number 8. Octopus Attack
Octopus rarely attacks humans, and when they do, it’s more comical rather than deadly, like this one octopus who kept squirting water at a marine biologist that he didn’t like, check out our previous video on animals taking revenge on humans for that full story. When they do pose great danger, it’s primarily passive, like in the case of the extremely venomous blue ringed octopus. But, as long as you don’t touch one, you should be fine. However, this one octopus decided to get physical with a diver, and if it weren’t for the diver’s long diving experience, could have turned deadly. The clingy octopus wrapped itself around the diver’s arms and equipment as he attempted to free himself from its grasp, which he eventually does. But, he had to throw away the camera he was holding as the octopus desperately clung to it. The diver’s friends may have found the encounter comical, but this will definitely be a terrifying experience for a novice diver.
Number 7. Great White Jumps on Boat
Fish jump into boats all the time, and it’s often taken as good fortune. However, here’s one dish that you definitely don’t want to be jumping on your boat at any time. Marine researchers in South Africa had a narrow escape after a three-meter-long great white shark breached the surface of the sea and leaped into their boat, becoming trapped on deck for more than an hour. The incident occurred while the research team was conducting a shark population study off Seal Island, near Mossel Bay, on South Africa’s Cape coast. Using sardines as bait to attract the predators, the seven-strong crew was able to observe four great whites. An hour or so in, the crew suddenly heard a mighty splash as one of the great whites breached the water’s surface, and flew directly above the crew member responsible for chumming the water, before slamming onto the deck of the ship.
Her desperate escape away from the peaceful manatee known as the sea cow. Definitely one of the most dangerous close calls I have ever seen. I am more threatened by the fruit fly in my bedroom.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🙁🙁🤣
Is that tiny guy still terrifying u ? 🤣🤣
Exactly!
Fake
The look of terror on her face is awesome 😂
Manti's are very gentle, and loving. It was simply vibing, and the girl freaked out, that was her fault not the poor animal.
Yeah, "such a dangerous encounter"! I hate clickbait videos like this.
@@HighlanderNorth1 it was dangerous for the manatee she could have kicked him
@@ryanakaitsmephill4433 is
I love visiting Fuji, great place for photos of all kinds, digital, 110, or 35mm. Wonderful cameras, I mean tropical location. Just playing, nice video.
4:38, a few, and flew directly above the crew members
lmao 🤣
First girl was next to a basking shark and freaking out 😂😂
This man calls box jellyfish potentially dangerous and lionfish certainly deadly.
"one of the oceans deadliest animals" were his exact words...
If you’re in open water and chumming the water to attract sharks and then a large Shark comes into the area, why are we acting shocked that someone got bit?!!! They literally got what they asked for 🤷🏻♀️
She was so scared that she kept filming and the Manti did nothing to her.
The "Great White shark jumps on boat" part, It's not a great white. It's a Shortfin Mako shark. The fastest shark in the world. It can swim up to 45 mph. I recognize the shark because of its teeth, eyes, body shape, and body color.
Oh good!! I'm not the only one who saw the mis-identification! And I'm not so sure that the shark wasn't seriously injured as the guy claims. As the video goes on, you can see more and more blood coming from it's mouth. I'm guessing it suffered from some nasty internal injuries and wouldn't be surprised if it didn't survive.
I also knew that I’m glad I’m not the only one
Expert level comment.
I'm nowhere near an ocean and knew it was a mako lol
Yeah I'm not the only one who knew
The surfer in the last clip was NOT involved in a shark attack. The shark got caught in the line attached to the board and his leg. It was trying to escape. This was informed by himself in an interview afterwards as far as i recall.
Yer that was Aussie surfer mick fanning, and your correct on the leg rope scenario, can also see he was dragged sideways in the direction the shark was trying to swim away indicating it got caught up in the leg rope
Lot of these are bs actually
@@mikefarley5358 the mick fanning was a true event , however it was filmed in south Africa for the world surfing title, doesn't surprise me of white sharks being there in the vicinity, is like here in SA Australia, we have huge white sharks seen every year
Yikes... the shark that jumped on the boat!
The "Great White" on the boat is a Mako, not a GW. Still and awesome shark!
Ya that’s a Mako!!
I was kayaking in California and paddled into a seacave. A huge wave entered and filled up the cave smashing me into the roof of the cave. I had been wine tasting all day and was so drunk I ragdolled. Puked up wine on the way out as 50 onlookers had gathered. Red wine on my shirt had everyone panicking lol
Ha ha, good story! You're so lucky to live in CA and to be able to do all that. That would be my dream! Sea caves are awesome!
@@carieevans3787 yeah beautiful place but too expensive, I moved back to the east coast after 3 years
Wow 😮 anything’s possible 🤯😉
@@johndenver5029 Cali is expensive I just got back from vacationing on the west coast of Florida. More dangerous than the manatee.
That poor shark. Trapped on a boat, can't breathe, bleeding.... they said it swam away I just hope its wounds healed. Spreading a trail of blood in the ocean would not be in its best interest
This is the best video ever
Cool video..thanks for sharing
this commentary is similar to the girl in the maniti encounter.....he is making this sound way more dangerous than what it is....good job of acting guy...!
the cable guy comes to mind as well for close up shots
*I'm uncertain if all lionfish species are lethal, but Coyote Peterson bravely tests the venom by allowing one to sting his hand.*
i love your videos
It was so confusing hearing some of the words just randomly repeated in this video. I thought the audio was maybe skipping, but then he'd say the same thing in two different tones. So that killed that thought. lol.
Yeah totally annoying voice I agree
Had one loved it's 💜💜💙💙💙💜
That shark was definitely hurt look at the goddam blood. Lol
I know. Hopefully once it got back in the water whatever wounds it had healed.
Like your videos
The last one he was very lucky 😬
wasn't an attack he even said in interviews it wasn't the shark got caught in his line was all
Just wanted to say the shark that jumped on the boat wasn’t a Great White, it was a Mako Shark 🦈
I recognized it too. It's a shortfin Mako shark. it can swim up to 45 mph!
I dont know how you could think its a great white... and than make a video about it...
Mick Fanning - love him!
Wow nice video
That one with the MAKO shark that got stuck on the boat, as soon as he was released and swam away, you know he was thinking "OH MY GOD I'm so embarrassed." 🤣
No it not
100% not.. he bleeded badly and maybe died later.. maybe he thought .. fck these human boats.... but for sure not im so embarrassed
I like It!
i was obviously just trying to funny your channel is great
And that’s why I don’t play in water where sharks live!
No & no thank you!
Whale saving diver impressive!
Thank God for that beluga whale, their such wonderful creatures.
Lol at the click bait pic.
The thumb nail is so funni
Hello from The Cayman Islands
I agree, it was a mako
definitely the beach
You can clearly see he is not smart I’m 9years old the great white shark I should say was a Mako
Correct, that was definately a Mako Shark.. So proud that some kids are learning..., gives hope that our future won't be a total lost cause.
Correct. Fun fact: There is another 9-year old that knows a lot about sharks.
Which animal scared me the most? Definitely the woman screaming from the manatee.. horrifying…
I thought it was really cool
"10 most dangerous ultimate close calls in the sea" im pretty sure these were not close calls. seemed to be pretty cool to me. except for the girl who overreacted
MY KIDS NAME CAME FROM THAT SHOW!
@@elainerainey5980 what show
I cried when i saw the shark on the boat😭🙏
Ummm why???
What can i say, us ozzies are tough competitors!!!!💪🏽👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
you arent going to play the clip just yap over it ...so entertaining..
Yeah, not a great white on the boat. It was a Mako. They are known for their acrobatics.
That’s a Mako Shark that jumped on that boat.
Yup
That wasn't a white shark that jumped on the boat, that was a Mako.
True
So true. 10000% true
IS IT JUST ME OR WAS. THERE A STRING HOLDING THE MAKO..OR COULD HAVE BEEN A FISHING LINE!
I saw that shark on the boat in sharknado
FOR SURE
1:44 she’s a scaredy cat
Australia is a nice place🙂🇦🇺
Instead of giving every clip a voice over maybe let the clip speak for itself (just saying)
That shark is coming back with us if it jumps on my boat
They left that shark on the boat for an hour? That’s horrible.
The shark is a legand
I know! That’s what I was thinking. I get that there’s not a lot to do and it would be scary - but do something! Poor thing :(
I love ur vids keep it n
And sharks attack surfers because they have mistaken them for seals.
10:33 funny how he thinks he managed to punch the shark & startle it.
They are extrememly sensitive to all kinds of stimuli , touch ,heat, pressure electro magnetic, ley lines etc
so yeah he did startle it you think it gets hit often ?? pretty sure they do the hitting
why dont you come here ill take you to a RIVER where you can test this out on salt water crocs and bull sharks, ill even film it for you as you bleed out
@@DVSUte theres difference between sensitive & pain. a human is "sensitive" (can feel an ant walk on skin) yet take a beating. there's 0 chance a human without any weapon be in the presence of a shark, in it own environment, startle it with a punch...especially if it weighs 5x more. do you know what goes into a good punch? a good balance on the feet would be the answer. look the video, he had no clue there was a shark near him till the shark acted funny. 100% the shark was curious & probably got tangled with the surfboard leash
@@DVSUte lol ur second comment is as dumb as i think you are...in the video is not a saltwater croc. there is no way in hell im entering a croc infested water. but i can enter the ocean with with great whites & fell 95% sure i'd come back out alive
& im not taking a flight to australia u are closer can do it urself &
@@OmarTheAtheistAziz I doubt they'd let fuckwits in but then again Sydney would take you
I like
NO 1 was the scare's with the shark attack because sometimes you don't know when and where the shark will be and attacked.
Shark!!!!!!!!
The first one was just a Play time
The great white jumping on the boat wasnt a great white it qas a mako
Fun fact
Shortfin Mako
Totally understand you Octopus you need a model release form before you're picture is sold on the internet
4:08 that's actually a Mako Shark
MOST, of these "incidents" are because people are messing with the creatures. If folks would just stop putting their faces in harms way, there would be far fewer of these incidents.
yes lets all sit at home on our couches watching youtube videos...because I mean everyone's life should be as boring and dull as yours.
Well, Hello to you as well, good sir... LOL... I never said don't go out and play... Obviously.... What I DID say was, don't be an idiot, and try to interact in situations that a normal person, with an ounce of common sense, can see is a bad idea.
you take there uses to the max
I fell bad for the greay white shark one the boat
Aww I hated the one where that poor shark jumped into the boat & then got stuck on the rails. He was bleeding and freaking out. I felt so sorry for him even though I'm scared of sharks LOL It was like he kept looking into the camera begging for help though and it made me really sad 😢
You could change your way of being scared of sharks. If you save sharks, you're not only saving the sharks. You are saving nature too!
@@GlitchShark0 well, I'm only scared of them when I'm in the ocean lol. I don't like seeing them hurt by people though. We go into their homes, not the other way around.
You speak the right thing there so how are you doing today hope ll is well with you and your family?
@@richarddesmond3107 I am doing Great! Thanks for asking. I love sharks when I was very small.
@@GlitchShark0 You are welcome... what,s your name and where are you from?
I hate when they get identities wrong . The shark that is shown on the boat is a MAKO people LOL
I keep thinking your talking about what is about to happen in an introduction to a video but you never stop talking.
Manatees are not hurtful they are very calm the manatee there in the first one wanted to play you can tell with the swimming
Surfer alone with Great White in wave.
He stuttered
Yeah
Omg It ate him
the poor mako shark he was stuck on the boat and he was bleeding poor baby
Let’s go baby 15th comment
That’s a mako shark not a great white ( that jumped on the boat )
It a mako shark that jumps on the boat
the shark on the boat is a shortfin mako shark
spike its yes
A BAD HOSPITAL near death experience falls near this category.
😱🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀
Why are these mostly shark attacks?🤔
i need to analyze movies now
My little brother almost got run over by a car
Omg so scary
It’s not a great white It’s mako
I could tell he was unsure of himself when he labeled it. lol.
You could see the color of body, body shape, eyes, size, and even teeth!
I saw a little turtle
LIL DURK AND THEM? JIM ITS YES
She wasn’t attacked by a manatee. She was freaking out and causing the problem herself and she wasn’t close to dying. She acted like she was being attacked by a great white shark. Manatees don’t attack people it’s the other way around. People have been known to be cruel to manatees. One year someone spray painted one if I remember correctly!
I'm not sure the lion fish is lethal unless there are different kinds. Coyote Peterson slams his hand on one to feel the venom.
I've been stung by a lionfish. It's no joke pain! If it happened while you were deep underwater diving it could be a very serious situation. They have a neurotoxin that can do all kinds of things and affect everyone differently.
Hahahah thats not a white shark 🤣🤣 thats a mako shark
Dude on board looks like delicious sea lion
THAT IS NOT A GREAT WHITE THAT JUMPED OH THAT BOAT. IT'S A MAKO.
Ding-Ding Ding! Correct
Hai!!!!!,!!!
Lion fish are outa control
The great white shark is a gentle fish that has no hostility towards humans. Very little is known about great white shark behavior and dominance structure. When sharks congregate in some feeding areas they have been documented using a dominance hierarchy. Female sharks, which are larger than males, are most dominant, followed by larger males, and resident animals are dominant over newcomers.
glad you know so much about them...internationally most shark experts claim the opposite...that we don't know enough about them.
👋 hey
