Hi Greg I have just unboxed my own Arc Air and there is a kind of buzzing in the cars motors al low throttle. Do you know if this is normal? Thanks for your videos. Very useful for beginners like me.
    Cheers

That's not uncommon for a system like this where the power is provided using a wave of varying pulse width, not direct current. It will be more or less noticeable at different speeds with different cars. Do the cars seem to drive OK or is there a problem driving them? If you'd like to post a video, I can verify for sure.

@@josevilar1012 Yep. Exactly what I figured. Totally harmless, and indicative of the PWM method of powering the cars.

Great unboxing and test! Do you know if quality rechargeable AA batteries can be used for the controllers?

I do not. If you try it, let us know how it goes. :) I think I might have read about people using rechargeables with success, though.

Hi Greg I ran into your video trying to solve a problem I have with the ARC AIR powerbase. Basically everytime I trigger the accelerator on the controller paired to lane 2, I'm getting a "power base overload" error message on the app and a red light on the base itself. This happens even with no car in the lane. I have cleaned tje track, lane, everything, actually I'm testing it only with the base with no additional track pieces and still getting the error. The other lane works perfect. Wondering if you ever opened the base and have a clue on what could be going wrong. Thanks in advance!

Leonardo Rocco it sounds like the electronics that control the power to that lane are shot. I would contact the dealer or scalextric for replacement under warranty.

Of course the controllers take batteries I mean they are wireless! 😉🤣🤣

Hehe, yeah... I should have been more specific... I meant it takes alkaline batteries rather than having rechargeable ones like other systems have.

@@ggaub of course I was just being facetious. The upside over rechargeable is that if they die you simply replace and keep racing but if rechargeables die you have to wait for them to charge. So plus and minus either way. I’m guessing the AA battery life will be quite long! So this ARC AIR is still analog racing not digital? I’m new to scalextric and still trying to figure things out!

@@backyardcnc yeah, pros and cons for everything. :)
Regarding ARC, it's ARC One for analog and wired controllers, ARC Air for analog and wireless controllers (and more features because of the wireless control), and ARC Pro for 6 car digital on two lane. The ARC Pro also has a switch that effectively puts it into "ARC Air" mode so you can run analog cars on the track (though one car per lane, and no lane changing, of course).
