This video depicted Ambessa Medarda (Council Woman Mel Medarda's mom) from Arcane, when she was younger and subsequently pregnant with Mel. The events in this video take place 33 years before episode 8 of Arcane season 1. Ambessa was facing death on that battlefield. In the culture she comes from the wolf is worshiped and revered. However, the embodiment of death (an entity known as "Kindred" on that world) who also takes the form of the wolf and that of the lamb, before ushering warriors into the great beyond, had sent a wolf to claim her soul. The lamb appears if you willingly give yourself over to death while the wolf will take you by force if you resist. Ambessa, near death, but fighting to stay alive in an attempt to ensure that her daughter is born, chose to deny the lamb and challenge death honorably, as is the nature of the wolf inside her. In her vision she denied the lamb and chooses instead to fight. Kindred indulges her as she is made to battle one of the strongest champions on the planet, a man by the name of Pantheon. She didn't prevail, but she didn't have to as her resolve was enough to sway Kindred into sparring her life. And as such she was adorned with a warrior's regalia and weaponry and welcomed into the fold to stand beside Pantheon, Swain and Katarina (the other two warriors featured in the background. Ambessa is made of a different kind of strength as Kindred isn't known in the lore for letting people return to life like that. Anyway, she's about to tear shit up in Arcane season 2. So, stay tuned. Nov. 9th is only a few days away!

you got mostly everything, my additions. The desert could be a reference that she may have lived in Shurima prior to Noxus invading and absorbing the people from that area. The lamb she holds could represent her innocence and the life she used to know giving up on it and embracing the conflict filled future that awaits her. Kindred are indeed twin spirits of death, Lamb usually gives people a quick death when its their time. Lamb also takes people who die in their sleep or accept death when it comes. The Wolf goes after people who are either cowards, people trying to flee from death to people who die in violent ways. How they interact with you is largely based off your cultural beliefs about them. In Noxian culture the Lamb is not worshipped at all. You do not gain honor by dying in your bed. Lambs entire purpose is not to hunt you, as we see in this dream, she has no bow, rather her job is to push to you to accepting the wolf. The wolf here tests Ambessa, using the figures of people who have also taken the path of the wolf. Wherein they have all almost died at some point but fought on. To this degree its why I'm not convinced thats actually pantheon/aspect of war. Keep in mind that this is also promoting skins for the new "chosen of the wolf" skinline too.
I really loved that you reacted to this mv so vicerally. The subtext is very complex it goes deep into the lore. It s Ambessa havin a near death experience and forseeing her possible destiny. Wolf and charcter in black with the icon in the hand is Kindred god of death. He offers her a chance to access hero status in afterlife but she gets sucked by into reality by the baby she s carrying

This is a wild back story and I love how it's changed my perspective on her character... it just totally changes her from the over domineering 'mom' to something much much more with a mindset and heart that isn't entirely focused on war, but on the future for her daughter... being sure there IS ONE for her daughter, no matter what she has to do to make that future happen for her.
