If the Rays moved to Tampa, it would kill St Pete.

Rays/Hines gonna get selected Jan 30th by Ken as the ones to redevelop tropicana field. I just bought a house 10 blocks away so I need it to stay here in st pete, need that equity

St. Pete will be fine without them playing there, they will still benefit if the team plays in Tampa. Now if they leave the state, which is still possible, that would sting a bit.

are you kidding...St Pete has amazing walkable space and restaurants...I definitely don't go to St Pete for that.

Yes because they're gated communities. When the public is barred from accessing a neighborhood the prices skyrocket.

Stadiums are better far away. Sports teams don’t need a free place to play at the expense of the citizens. Who then have to pay to get in.

@Jose Ortiz stadiums are generally high crime areas for the people who live there. You won’t find a lot of places to buy groceries, for instance. ATM’s but no banks generally. Good for the teams who don’t pay for them. Good for businesses that profit from sports but those aren’t local for the most part. And off season they’re pretty empty. Didn’t you ever play Sim City? Lol.

@Jose Ortiz too bad. Teaches city planning or it used too. Got dumbed down a lot as time went on. Hard to compete with angry birds and shiny things.

They have a stadium, just remodel it, they don’t need another one. When we could use that money for affordable housing or improving our public transit system.

I'm tired of development, I miss when Tampa was quiet, hidden little gem. People can hardly afford to live there as it is. It's rediculous

Mistake. In the old days they built thousands of affordable housing. Individual homes , neighborhoods which brought in stores , parks , schools etc.

None of these apartments will be affordable. Tampa is pricing out the working class and poor smh. I miss the of Tampa of 4 years ago.

Can everybody live there? No. Not unless you can afford it. Developers build what the local market will support. I hate people looking for a discount when they didn't earn it.

The Rays should relocate to Charlotte since Tampa doesn't care about the Rays.

More expensive condo,s and people and traffick. Greed everywhere by so many rich already rich enough. Then these rich developers act like they are saints.

We need for Cuban Americans to free Cuba and get all these people fleeing the north to move to Cuba, not here.

    • @pmboston

That didn’t go well the first time we tried it. ‘Remember the Bay of Pigs!’ Doesn’t have the same impact as ‘Remember the Alamo!’ For a reason.

Build the stadium in the town that's now a GOP meme. We could use the business from attendees at our restaurants, small biz, and shopping centers.
