The black skirt tetra is an amazingly resilient fish!! These were one of the first fish I kept when I started keeping aquariums. We had to move and the only option I had was to put all my fish in an outdoor pond while we moved. After we moved i thought I got all of the black skirt tetras out of the 300gal Rubbermaid tote, I didn't. 2 of them survived all winter in Florida outside! Granted, it's Florida but the water temp gets down to the 50s!! They still survived!
Just starting the video and I'm so excited to watch this. Im setting up my 54 corner and am trying to figure out my stock. So this is a perfect discussion to listen to.
I have 5 black skirt tetras that I purchased when I first set my tank back up 6 years ago. They are very hardy fish but also very aggressive to anything I put in with them except my 2 angels and the albino corys.
I had the buenos ares tetras a long while back. Awesome fish but I did t know they ate plants at the time. lol that being said they did well with Odessa barbs and gold barbs
I once tried silver tips in a 29 gallon with neons and a handful of cherry barbs. Everyone got along, but the silver tips absolutely destroyed all my plants, which I found interesting. I had blue tetras and black skirts in a 60 gallon tall tank once. The stock load was 6 black phantoms, 6 red phantoms, 6 black skirts, and 7 blue tetras along with a handful of otocinclus for cleanup. The black skirts were completely peaceful, but the blue tetras were very zippy, and harassed every other fish in the tank. I ended up finding a new home for the blues, but catching them out was an absolute PAIN. They’re so fast. If I ever did them again, I’d try them in a larger group with a couple of larger semi-peaceful fish they wouldn’t mess with such as a full-grown blue or gold gourami at 4-5 inches or so. Or maybe try them with a large group of some columbian red and blue tetras? Hmmm…
I have a planted 6 gallon tank with a small school of neons(6), ottocinclus(3), Albino cory (1), nerite snail, pleco and a centerpiece angel fish. The neons seem a little aggitated all the time im not sure why? I just moved this whole group out of a 3 gallon into the 6 for more space and less cleaning. Im wondering if i up the school of neons to 12 if it will cure the problem. Also i had a few shrimp in there but i think they were eaten by the angelfish its gotten big.
You may want to consider a larger tank? Angelfish need at least a 55 gallon aquarium. The Cory cats and neons would minimally need at least a 10 gallon, but a 20 gallon is a much better option. Hope this helps!
A bit surprise that the Black Skirt is on the list, after watching their species profile from your channel. I was going to get them for my new tank now I am not sure.
@@PrimeTimeAquaticsI realise this is quite an old stream now but I have black skirts and I love them. I'd really like to add flame tetra to the mix, but I'm anxious they might not work together. I currently have 12 black skirts (plan to add sox more as I'm adding gradually), and I'm planning on getting 20 flames. The tank is 220l. It's got reasonably heavy planting, a lot of hygrophila and echinodorus, I'm slowly building up the floating plants - Amazon frogbit. Any experience with the two species of tetra together?
Jason I set up a 125 Oscar tank with 2 3 inch Oscar’s and have a chance to get 4 geophagus sveni all 4 inches. Do you see this being an issue or do you think that’s too much for a 125 and if so what would you recommend thanks
I put 10 zebras in my 29 gallon tank, they were so spastic and created so much stress in my tank that 4 on my Harlequin Rasboras died as well as a 3 Neons and 2 platys......never again.
Great Office Space quote.

Haha. I was just being sarcastic. Im sure someone has tried to jam all those into a little tank.
I was gifted two adult red eyes 👀 ! Love em. they are in my black skirt tank! Hardiest fishes ever

Ours did fine based on the fish they were with. Just depends on tank mates and tank size.

They should get along just fine. Maybe as they grow to full size you might have to thin out the stocking a little, but geos grow very slowly.
Do you remember the old Oceanic tanks? Now, those were nice tanks... :)
Yes they are!
I'm allowed to listen to the radio at an appropriate level until 11;00 a.m.
😂🤣
@@PrimeTimeAquatics You need more swag. Lol
