I never thought Dragonsong would topped as my favorite FFXIV theme, but Shadowbringers really did it for me.
This time, I wanted to include all three songs together to recreate the feelings many of us had when experiencing these moments for the first time. Although, I'm considering making a second version of this video with cutscenes-only. Hence, this'll be known as the "Hades EX version."
I threw in a few edits, extending "Shadowbringers" with a few extra "We fall"s, adding in some audio clips from in-game, and a special flashback that you, the viewer, can see for yourself. Luckily for me, "actual" lyrics for "Invincible" were provided by the FFXIV Community Team just the other day (as of November 11, 2019).
For anyone unaware, "Who Brings Shadow" has the beginning verse (from "Tomorrow and Tomorrow") and instrumental (from "Shadowbringers") removed.

@@animepabu5526 I think that just brings back the "why can't we just use phoenix down on A, or why can't we just use a revive spell on T", the big difference between those three (Haurchebro included) and those who died standing in AOEs is that the latter is just knocked out, while the former is far too wounded to be healed anymore
@@animepabu5526 Its actually canonically explained that pheonix feathers or even ascend/resurrect etc cannot bring back people who died or whose injuries are too grave. When you "rez" people, they are K.O.'d and unconcious, never truly dead. WoLs especially seem to be a huge tad more hearty and tough, so taking a tankbuster to the face even as a mage leaves you only unconcious.
When Haurchefant died, he was pierced through the chest or something I believe. As ye regular old mortal, that probably pierced multiple vital organs, thus kinda dooming him beyond the point of healing.
Now dont shoot the messenger on this, seeing how we often fall off chasms that seem endless. xD But thats basically how its explained and I think thats better than no explanation.
Damn, this song makes me wanna get into the award-winning MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, which has a free trial that goes up to Level 60 and now includes the award-winning expansion Heavensward!

The death of Emet Selch hit me hard. I grew quite fond of him before the end.
He would have made a great frenemy antagonist that stuck around.
Same I was in tears and then elidabus was really sad too because of the whole "the rains has ceased, and we are blessed with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it."

Knowing what we know now, I feel like Emet's last words to us of "Remember us. Remember that we once lived" was his way of telling us to not forget who we are. That we are in fact an Ascain.

Best Boy Ardbert is more a hero than almost anyone else. Hanging on to a thread even when he was convinced it was all hopeless. He and Lord Haurchefant of the Silver Fuller are almost more titanic heroes than we ourselves are.
The best heroes aren't always the one who win the fight. Sometimes, more often than not, the best heroes are the one who remain hopeful, even when all hope is lost. And they meet death with their head held high, knowing the future is in good hands.
I immediately missed both of them
Everyone weeps over Hauchenfant and then there's me, over here in the corner who barely remembers him as a random NPC but is too scared to mention it.
The shadowbringers theme ALWAYS makes me tear up! Every fricken time,! I just associate it with the incredible story and it makes me think how much this game means to me after 7 years 😭😭😭 I'm an emotional baby lol

Invincible is such a beautiful song especially given the context of the Ascians vs the races of the shards & Source. I may have kinda sorta cried while fighting Emet, I hope Endwalker is going to be this level of amazing.

I fucking lost it and started bawling when you got the option "Tis good to see you awake" how in the heck can Square even hope to do better than this expansion? Shadowbringers was a breath of fresh air when compared to Stormblood.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. My first time actually seeing the lyrics to Shadowbringers and they almost brought a tear to my eye. IMO, SB's story is just too good for an MMO. It deserves it's own game with a dedicated protagonist.
FFXIV'S Story in general. The lead up makes all this even better.
What this games needs is a television or movie series

Honestly i'm glad my friend convince me and others to play this game together. We all suffered together and it was worth it.
Just remembering the end of ShB still brings me to tears.
I rather enjoy villains like Emet, where they have understandable motivations and even sympathetic goals, but those motives and goals are completely incompatible with the hero's and their methodology even moreso. There's nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned hate sink like Zenos and Fandaniel, but balancing them with Emets and Elidibuses helps keep it feeling fresh.
i'm late to the -party but I feel the same. Never thought Dragonsong would ever be won out. But damn, that Shadowbringers. I actually had ZERO intention of preordering Shadowbringers after my personal dislike for Stormblood. But after watching the trailer and the pre-ShB quests, I instantly preorder no regrets.
Tbh I hate dragonsong to this day. As well as the whole of heavensward

Although we have returned to The Source, my heart still remains in The First
Never did I think a MMORPG would harp on my childhood heartstrings about simply playing online to have fun, and then harp it some more on my older self with such amazing story, and such impactful lore dump, that pretty much changed the way I see the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole, especially with 5.3
This game is something else, the climb to get this far was a arduous one, and a painful one at that, but also one thats magnificent as is
they sure set a very high standard with shadowbringers in general idk how they are gonna top it! in future expansions
historically speaking? The next expac won't. ARR was good but not amazing. HW WAS amazing. SB was a letdown after HW. ShB was insane. I imagine the next expac will be on par with HW, so still damn good but not better than ShB.
I don't want them to try. I need an expansion where I can recover after this rollercoaster. Give me a nice, cathartic, relaxation-ish expansion, then hit me with that Shadowbringers quality again later. They don't have to top it, they just have to match it.
Honestly, i wouldnt mind if the rest of the story wasn't as good as Shadowbringers, because when you have a villain like Zenos who is just leagues and leagues behind Emet, well, you really have to be a genius at writting to surpass this.
It's been confirmed we have the same writer for Endwalker. I don't know what's going to happen, but I know we're in for a ride!

There isn't much that makes me feel anything other than apathy or brief amusement, but Tomorrow and Tomorrow hits somewhere deep in my core and pulls on some serious strings.

Just came across this by chance, good work! You synced the music up with the visuals beautifully. I know how hard that can be to do with a boss fight sometimes if it doesn't last exactly as long as you need it to.
The intro sequence was really good too! Loved the recreation of the trailer there.
Emet-Selch... was I the only one who actually agreed with the ascian's cause? It's just a tragedy that Emet-Selch was fighting for the restoration of his people while the WoL was fighting for the preservation of his/hers. 18:08 moment not only gave me chills, but actually made me cry for the ascians and the ancients. Wish I could've helped em.
There is no way to help without letting millions more die. The fact is, the ascians doomed their world when they summoned Zodiark, not when Hydaelyn shattered the worlds. But it shows how good a villain is written that everyone who played Shadowbringers had/has conflicted feelings.
That's kind of the point of the story and why he is a sympathetic character. He was still tempered. He had been fighting this fight for thousands of years and, because of his tempering, was not allowed to give up at all. I think that's why we get that little half smile at the end. Maybe because, for once, we measured up. Maybe because he was finally free of his tempering as he was dying. Maybe because he knew, in a way, he finally got to meet his friend again. Maybe all of it.
You can feel for their plight (even if you don't agree with their methods).
Oh no i havent finished shadowbringers yet. I came here for the soundtrack it’s really good! Hair raising soundtrack!

Am I the only one that, when we threw ardbert's Axe at hades, just yell "This world is OURS!"?
That’s actually a good line placement! Never thought of that!
The moment before throwing the axe made me really sad. Instead of feeling good that we won, I felt bad that Emet lost. It felt wrong to erase one of the last remnants of a lost ancient civilization (more so when they were just trying to bring back their people). Emet's smile afterwards had tears rolling down my face.

at 22:11 I noticed the option saying "Tis good to see you awake, G'raha Tia." I'm on the Server: Aether , NA-Adamantoise. I don't remember that option being there for me. Is that just for certain servers/countries? If someone can let me know, that would be much appreciated! :)

Thank you! I’ll keep on trying ;v; My server is NA Crystal - Diabolos. So that option is only available if you cleared the Crystal Tower storyline before reaching that scene, it’s available in Mor Dhona! That’s where G’raha Tia is first introduced, it’s still possible to clear it, and you can rewatch the cutscene with the option available I think! (Select "Reflect Quest Progression" in The Unending Journey at the Innkeep, or it should be there already in New Game+)
@@Fearno Hi again, I just checked the same cutscene in my journal. It is in fact an option! I must've just forgotten. I have also completed the Crystal Tower storyline. Such a nice one. I often re-watch those cutscenes. It's such a nostalgic feeling, to see G'raha Tia, before ShadowBringers begun. ^^
@@bellaangelwolf5939 I think the FIRST time you watch this cutscene, it's only available if you told him when you first met, "I've know you...." or something like that (I think it actually gives you the option of calling him G'raha Tia at that time rather) and later this option comes up. And yeah I think the option to call him G'raha Tia at that point only happens if you have completed the Crystal Tower storyline (similar to how in-game dialogue changes if you're the 'Azure Dragoon' in HW arc).
It's nice to see the little things they do like this lol. (By the way, if you call the Exarch G'raha Tia when you first see him, he just pretends not to know who G'raha Tia is and keeps his identity hidden all the same throughout Shadowbringers).
