Muscle Car Of The Week Video #62: 1969 Jack Douglass Yenko Camaro
    #musclecar #v8tv
www.musclecaroftheweek.com - Any authentic Yenko Camaro is a special car, and this one is unique among those. As the popularity of the Yenko name grew, other Chevrolet dealers were permitted to sell Yenko branded cars under license. This Daytona Yellow '69 Yenko Camaro is one such animal, being sold new by Jack Douglass Chevrolet in Hinsdale, IL. Jack Douglass was the authorized Yenko dealer for the Illinois and Wisconsin territory, in addition to being a high performance Chevy dealer of his own. This Camaro features the L72 427 V8 and all the COPO 9561 and COPO 9737 package goodies, and is one of several unique Yenko cars in the Brothers Collection.

    A beauty!
My Uncle bought a 1969 302 4 spd stage 2 solid lifter cam camero.
He bought it new in 69 from Parklane Chevrolet in Sarnia Ontario. Anyone that knows fast Chevrolets from the old days went to Sarnia to Parklane Chevrolet for a factory dream car.
It was blue with white stripes.
I can still remember being at our cottage at Hope Bay Ontario standing next to it with my Aunt and having our picture taken. It was an absolute beauty!
My Uncle sold it to a young fellow and my Grandfather who worked in the Fire Dept rescue unit at the time told the young man and his father that it was way to much car for his son.
The kid ignored my Grandfather 's advice and was dead two weeks later .
My Gramps had to pull the kid out of the house that he drove into.
It's an awful end to the story of a beautiful super car not to mention the young man who lost his life driving something he had no business owning.

I'm a Mopar guy but I LOVE the 67-69 Z28 Camaro's. That little 302 was an absolute screamer. The 290 horsepower factory rating is a joke. Had to be at least 350 hp...maybe 400. Some even came with a dual quad intake...which came in the trunk and was installed by the dealer. That Chevy 302 and the LT1 350 from the 70 1/2 Z28 are two of the baddest small blocks of the muscle car era. Those 2 mouse motors hurt the ego's of many big block owners back then. In 1970 the LT1 350 actually made more horsepower than the 396/402 big block did.....although the big block made a bit more torque. Plus the small block cars handled much better

69 COPO Camaro ZL1 is my favorite muscle car ever built by Chevy. It's between the ZL1 and a 69 GTO with the 428 Royal Bobcat package for my favorite GM muscle car of all

The reason for the side pin stripe is that the Jack Douglass COPOs were ordered with a Style Trim Option coded on the trim tag as X11.

Sounds fantastic. Looks amazing in yellow. Goes like stink.
Body colour front bumper looks good.
    Mega bucks!

Yeah that front bumper looks really nice with this yellow. The "endura" bumper wasn't available on a regular Yenko dealership sold car, they all had chrome bumpers in front. That chambered exhaust sounds like music! Also, Jack Douglass ordered some unusual colors for his Yenko conversions, he didn't stop at hugger orange, olympic gold, daytona yellow, fathom green, rally green and lemans blue. There was at least one white car. I hope to see more colors too, a genuine garnet red, silver or a tuxedo black car have got to look great too!

my dad worked in hinsdale illinios in the late sixtys , told me about these cars sitting on the lot for sale for a long time,,,,, he was "shocked" when we watched barret -jackson in 2006 what these cars were selling for at auction.

My brother lives in Hinsdale and I don't think Jack Douglass is in business today.

So this one has a vacuum canister on the distributor, most yenko's had a dual point distributor.

All of the 1969 Yenkos came from GM with a last three digits of the part # "499" distributor as did all 9561 COPO Camaros.

Beautiful and wonderful piece of muscle car history- it still handles like a lead sled though compared to modern standards lol
