- 1969 Camaro RS/SS396 Convertible Muscle Car Of The Week Video #34
The 1969 Camaro is one of the most iconic Muscle Cars ever built, and the many variations of Camaros keep these cars interesting decades on. This week, we're spotlighting a '69 Camaro nearly every Muscle Car fan would like... an RS / SS 396 375 HP convertible 4-speed in a stunning shade of Frost Green. This car has nearly all the most sought-after options Chevrolet installed, including the 396, RS appearance package, Muncie 4-speed, and of course, the power convertible top. From The Brothers Collection.

Love the front end styling
Kevin, you do a great job narrating these, love the car
A friend of mine in the '70's had an SS/RS with the L-78 396 but I liked his a lot better - with the red paint and white stripe kit - and the same hide away headlights. I am not a fan of green cars but of the ones I've seen, this one is the best looking.
ThIs 69 Camaro convertible RS/ SS 396 I love the colors it is a very Beautiful car
As always, an awesome video of an awesome car!
Wish they would have shown it with the top down.....
My dream car - All the right stuff
Sweet!!!
keep these great vids coming
We will, thanks!
Nice
That is sick!
Great info. Thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it!
Started following this channel a month ago.. You describe these cars with such precise detail. This is a awesome car. Not my favorite year camaro. It has all the options I want. I argued for years with a friend that there is such a thing as rs/ss package
You could get the Rally Sport package on any Camaro. Zl-1, Z-28, SS, Base Camaro. The higher package options changed the motor, and so they took precedence in badging. It you look at 69 Z-28s with the Rally Sport option, the have a Rally Sport badge on the front fenders just behind the tires near the door.
Black tail light panel was not part of RS package. Only big block Camaros got the black tail light panel. All others were body color.
You're right sir !
Why is the ss badge on the grill upside down?
No.
LOADED convertible. Cars loaded as this likely LATE production, as GM parts suppliers had strikes during 69. First rear window defrost I've seen on a convertible. Bumper guards...Headlight washers very rare too. "Traction fluid" option sprayed chemical onto rear tires...rarer still.
I,m guessing GM was planning on using this body style for two years but when they saw the Mach 1 Mustangs and how popular they were they went right back to the drawing board and it takes a while to come up with a whole new car , thus the delay.
The Norwalk plant went on strike right before the production was scheduled start of that 70 Camaro
I had this car in 2002 found it at a car show in Tenn. Was Red with white hockey stripe white conv. Top and interior. But a real 396 RS SS automatic , it broke down Woodward cruise with my wife and infant, in the car...wife made me sell it..lol.... daughters are grown now....
If any one out there has a 396 conv. Automatic RS SS ... i would be interested in buying it...
My dad owned the exact car used in this video when he was younger
I wish you would tell 1/4 time and speed as tested for each muscle car
What is a 12 bolt rear end?
I would to see a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro L78 against a 70 Cuda 440 six pack. Please make it happen. My son is a Mopar fan and I am a Chevuy guy.
I'm a Ford guy but when it comes to muscle cars, Mopar is King. I'd take a 70 440+6 Cuda over a 69 L78 Camaro any day. Just my opinion. Beautiful Camaro though
the reason they did the strip that way was for final assembly the strip could be lined up right
Burn the tires completely off...... yes Kevin, good idea!
Any idea of how many 69 L-78 RS/SS Convertibles were made.
I heard 16 but that seems too low 🤷♂️
You're welcome.
The 396 came in 3 different variations 325hp 350hp and 375 hp was a bad motor scooter...
Why would you put smog pump
Concourse restore
California required them
