Thanks for your detailed and informative video here! I have bought the Akko rosewood switches. I love the deep, muted sound, and my typing experience has also improved!
Love this review, always refreshing to see switches on the deeper side, that concrete-like sound on that wooden mu01 sounds so pleasant I might be tempted to get it 😊
Finally! :) Funny thing is that just today my Akko Rosewood switches arrived, I put them in my MU01 with Akko Warm Grey keycaps (cherry profile) and suddenly I get a notification for your video! That can't be a coincidence! :D
I dunno if its intentional to try and get a good sound of the switches, but the when you do the switch cross testing it sounds like there is vibration going through the table into the mic. Also there is something about the sound profile of the Zoom keyboards that makes every switch sound thin to me. But your videos are great, im just being nitpicky. - and then I saw the rest of the video and you actually put the switches into a second keyboard to test the sound, awesome! Either way ngl the Akko Rosewoods sound a bit scratchy!
Ah, yes, I recently changed my desk - and henceforth the desktop - and it messed up the acoustics (even though I spent a ton of money on professional wall soundproofing I ended up with a worse situation - it's frustrating as hell :C). I'll try experimenting on how to eliminate this sound, so please feel free to let me know if I could/couldn't succeed in future videos! I was actually considering switching the switch review board from the Zoom to the TB8-TKL, but unfortunately it would mess up with the comparison ability with the previous videos. I'm a bit stuck making this move, but I think I'll have to do it sooner or later!
@@thoccnology It sounds like vibration through the desk so you just need to make sure the mic is not attached to the desk in any way. You can get a mic stand that you can place on the floor. Or you could get a shock mount for your mic. But yeah sound proofing wont stop vibration, but mic mounting and position will! I don't know what mic you are using but if you have xlr input there are many great mic options like sm57 or a mid price shotgun mic! As for changing keyboards messing up comparrisons for some people is a good point. It is just me personally that does not like the Zoom sound haha. But the comparrisons can never be perfect, especially with all the foam and mounting combinations people have now. Just a side note, I travel a lot and keyboards sound different in every room and some times a bit of echo in the room makes them sing. Sometimes there is no aparent reason why something sounds good in one position and bad in another. Its just trial and error!
@@thoccnology Ah ok, if you have a mic stand you should be OK! Depending on your flooring you may need no put it on a rug, you can also layer matts on your desk to make sure it doesn't create unnecessary desk vibration but you are probably already aware of that! I second your idea of changing to the TB8-TKL! I dunno if they ship internationally but the SPM AL66A seems like another interesting budget ALU bare bones board to review. Im gonna pick one up when im in Korea!
@@tsukkomigordo Oooh, thank you for the mat idea! It haven't occurred to me yet, I'll definitely add some layer of foam under the feet! That's genius, thank you!
any ticking noise when tapping or pressing on the edges of the keycap? Need to find a replacement for my vertex v1s that have an annoying amount of ticking. I might grab these Rosewoods if they don't
@@datguyoverdurr2604 Well, that's most disturbing. :C It might be worth messaging the seller you bought it from, it might turn out to be a faulty batch and you might get replacement
For me, the Vertex V1s are still in the top3 switches, they are just perfect for my needs (they are super smooth, the spring weight is also just comfortable). I use Rosewoods when I need a muted sound.
@@thoccnology If i may ask what's your top3?? And do you think Vertex V1 is too heavy?? I'm afraid of buying it and not liking it because it can be quite heavier for what i have tested before and liked. I just had the oportunity to test KTT Kang White and Akko Cream Yellow V3 Pro and for what i searched they are lighter than Vertex V1
Nice! I have been looking for something like this, a muted linear but not silent, i think as you showed that the sound will depend largely on the case and plate, but i find both the combinations you showed to be really pleasant ^^ Side note: Love the nails :3
Hey Mrs Thocc, would it be possible for you to test the epomaker peace lily switches, I’m wanting to use them in an Aula F75 build I’m doing and I’ve really been loving your videos, but I’m not sure if you take requests like this so it’s okay you that’s not something you can do!!
Hey~~ Thank you for the recommendation! ^^ I'll see what I can do (I'll ask Epomaker about it, bc the shipping is absolute bonkers to me and I start to have cutting back my expenses :'))
Thanks for the review! Can you help me with ''the best creamy'' switches choice? i like the Akko Creamy yellow og's and their sound, but unfortunately they have been out of stock for a while, but if you choose between Akko, Gateron, Outemu brands and their switches at this particular ''day'' what you recommend for a ''creamy or thocc sound'' like the ''Akko Creamy yellow og's'' , maybe some particular switches from 3 of these brands that sound similar to Akko creamy yellow og's? [ Except the oil king because i cant find it in my place ]
The MZ Z1 sounds almost identical to the OG Yellows, you can get those (they are even cheaper!) unikeyboards.com/products/mz-z1-linear-switch-factory-lubed-edition-10pcs?sca_ref=4091833.NcXqvqZAiQ I compared them here: th-cam.com/video/jwoehcmvF6E/w-d-xo.html

@@delorian1593 There are plenty of creamy, thoccy switches, there are differences that will be completely based on personal preferences :) But I think that with any of these you can't go wrong in the thoccy/creamy range: MZ Z1 (OG Yellow sound), Vertex V1 (deep creamy thocks), Akko Rosewood (muted creamy), Duhuk Lumia Matcha V4 (heavy push feel creamy thock), BSUN Jade Rosales (deep, somewhat muted creamy thock) Yes, I think from all of those the MZ Z1 stands the closest from the ones you mentioned above :)

It was surprising and exciting to see Akko experimenting with new materials! ^^
Always straight forward and informative! Great video as always. Really do like these switches
Thank you so much!
Dam. Those Vertex V1's are what I'm liking. If I'm ever foolish enough to build another, RIP Oil Kings.
I can second this - the Vertex V1 is my ultimate switch, if I could only keep one switch from all, it would the those.

I've heard quite a few bad quality experiences with the Morandis. I don't own them, but based on sound tests these are a bit deeper and more muted.
