I admit that I wasn’t sure about Asami’s voice fitting with Lovebites’ style of music at first but I quickly changed my mind on that front. She generates such power from such a small frame and her sustains on high notes is amazing. She also has great stage presence. “Edge of the World” is one of my favourite Lovebites songs and shows a different side of the band. “Burden of Time” is also great and you get to see some multi tasking by Miyako.
One of the thrashier songs that they have, and IMHO a perfect opener to build the mood for the next about 1.5 hour of the concert. It has an early Metallica/Testament vibe for me, and definitely a perfect banger 🤘🏼🤘🏼

This was my first video I ever saw of these young ladies.....my mind melted. I laughed, I cried, I screamed,....I want to have their babies......and I'm a middle aged metalhead in SoCal.
When the great British bands performed in Japan they planted the seeds of JRock/JMetal. These bands absolutely love to perform in the U.K. I think it is maybe a tie which country has the best fan crowd participation ha ha.
It's taken a minute for me to warm up to Asami`s vocal stylings, but having said that it took me two decade's to warm up to Bruce Dickens, IMO lovebites is a modern Japanese female version of some other band I cannot think of the name right now, I mean literally I'm old and am having a Senior moment, why yes.. iron maiden, and it only took me just discovering them.. plus two week's, ganbatte kudasai lovebites and good job Asami.
Miho (bass, co-founder) is a huge Iron Maiden fan...and Haurna (dr, co-founder) is a monster... Since they were coming from Destrose and working with Marina as the vocalist (Mardelas) they knew they needed to get a vocalist that was on par... and they upgraded the guitarists (imho), but I still like the Destrose guitarists... Mina, formed Fate Gear. They just put out a rocking studio live that deserves a watch...\m/ And her vocalist NANA is one of my absolute faves... She's like Mayu with Nemophila (not sound-wise) but rather there is nothing she cannot sing and she's got the growls...love it. \m/
I started to discover Destrose because of Miho and Haruna and ended up becoming a new fan of Marina! what a voice she has! i agree it is an upgrade, Miyako and Midori i feel are on another level! 😀
weird how most live babymetal videos you will see the moshpit going but i have yet to see the crowd do it at a lovebites show. i know if i was there i'd be soaking it in watching the lovely ladies on stage.

You're hitting the right notes when you mention Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, as they are among the band's influences. This song, however, was written after they saw and were inspired by Slayer at the Download Festival. Others have mentioned some of their thrashier performances, Break the Wall and The Hammer of Wrath (from this same show) are must-watch performances. If they ever release a live video of their song Set The World On Fire, you'd better be prepared to have your face melted...

Trying to get this down on bass. Not exactly complicated to play but it's really fast and I'm struggling with keeping endurance up through the whole song. It's a great opener but something that means you REALLY need to be warmed up before starting the show.
If you're playing with a pick, it will be hard. My advice for this is to not play with a pick, and instead also use a third finger. If you're wanting to also play the 16th notes, that's where the 3rd finger will come in. Otherwise, you could also stiffen the finger and strum the finger tip up and down against the string, like the fingertip is the pick.
@@athlonen thanks! I do play with my fingers and use the third finger for the gallops. Still I have to warm up very well to keep my hand and forearm from cramping up at that speed. I'm thinking about maybe learning to play parts of this with double thumb technique plus one finger for the gallops

It's somewhat appropriate that you mention Pantera. Midori used to play in a Pantera cover band. My recommendation for your next song is actually one of their more laid back songs. Whatever *LOVEBITES* song you do next, there is one thing to keep in mind. There's a Bloodstock concert they did in I believe 2018, and due to circumstances beyond the band's control, it sounds like crap. Avoid this show - at least for reactions - at all cost.
I'm so sorry, but the concert was done during Covid19 restrictions...no circle pick...only seats and not much movement, but Japan allowed people to enjoy music even during Covid19, simply following the restrictions that many countries and States did'nt when they could do it instead of keeping us locked in our homes. Respect to the Japanese peaples who show to them government that they can trust them and allow them to enjoy this fabulous Lovebites concert.
Asami is the best front person in power metal right now that I can think of. Can you imagine what it must feel like up there to have the caliber of musicians behind her that she does? It must take a few hours to come off that high.

You still have to get into some SCANDAL. *start with Masterpiece. There are a few groups that constantly surprise me. Cant put their music in one "box" as they not locked into a certain style. One is "Rondonrats". Another is "Headphones President" and can also add "Soundwitch" ... just some groups you may want to check out off channel.

Why AC/DC? Bon Scott had a very unique voice for singing and was the best for the band, Brian Johnson IMO sucked as a singer. I don't get it. I agree with the Iron Maiden similarities as I have always heard Asami sound and sing in the Bruce Dickinson style

My recommendation for your next song is actually one of their more laid back songs. Well, laid back for them. It's called "Empty Daydream," and it has a sweet intro from Miyako. I think it's one of Asami's best vocal performances, too. Here's a link.

Whatever *LOVEBITES* song you do next, there is one thing to keep in mind. There's a Bloodstock concert they did in I believe 2018, and due to circumstances beyond the band's control, it sounds like crap. Avoid this show - at least for reactions - at all cost.
I'm so sorry, but the concert was done during Covid19 restrictions...no circle pick...only seats and not much movement, but Japan allowed people to enjoy music even during Covid19, simply following the restrictions that many countries and States did'nt when they could do it instead of keeping us locked in our homes. Respect to the Japanese peaples who show to them government that they can trust them and allow them to enjoy this fabulous Lovebites concert.
Asami is the best front person in power metal right now that I can think of. Can you imagine what it must feel like up there to have the caliber of musicians behind her that she does?

You still have to get into some SCANDAL. *start with Masterpiece. There are a few groups that constantly surprise me. Cant put their music in one "box" as they not locked into a certain style. One is "Rondonrats". Another is "Headphones President" and can also add "Soundwitch" ... just some groups you may want to check out off channel.

Why AC/DC? Bon Scott had a very unique voice for singing and was the best for the band, Brian Johnson IMO sucked as a singer. I don't get it. I agree with the Iron Maiden similarities as I have always heard Asami sound and sing in the Bruce Dickinson style
