    Well done. For those who say you have to have a lot of hair, the secret is curling up your hair or making it somewhat wavy to add volume to your hairstyle. See her first sample she has straight hair then it became curly when she started styling. This definitely helps put less effort in making messy hairstyles.

    • @susanl1195
      @susanl1195 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely Curling helps. I use long clip on ponytails for thickness and it helps make a beautiful style like this.

    • @xssized
      @xssized 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      WHY woul anyone want to CURL hair and make a full updo in order to put it in a BUN next?!? That's just ridiculous. If you spend your time in it , you go with your hair loose! That's just how it works.

    • @jo-annlimjoco7614
      @jo-annlimjoco7614 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@xssized good point. But sometimes you just want to put your hair up in a nice stylish way. If you have flat or thin hair, curling gives your hair more volume so it looks nicer when you make it into messy bun.

      If I'm going to curl my hair, why would I go through the effort of that just to put it in a bun? 🤣 also, she did a jump cut to the end, which left out how she pinned it & styled it at all.

  • @miaanslow7213

    Messy bun nowadays isn't just a messy bun, it's a hairstyle, i.e styled hair. It's the equivalent to the no make-up look. Takes effort. That is, more effort than not wearing make up at all or in the case of hair - more effort than making a raw messy bun like anyone could. When I realized that, I felt alot better about my raw messy bun not looking that great 😂

    • @lavanderbasket

  • @NerakGreen
    @NerakGreen ปีที่แล้ว +37

    I seriously had to go try this right now. I found it easier to use a bulky scrunchie on the first pony and then a thin one on top. It helps to twist ur bangs up and bite em while ya do the ponytailing. It actually does look really cute.
    I have super frizzy ends and a bun tucks that off my face, so this bun accentuates the mess. Idk how I feel about it. I kinda like it. Idk. I appreciate learning it though. Thank you!

    • @DebyColes
      @DebyColes ปีที่แล้ว +32

      We did miss something. We missed the part where it was totally crap and she took it down and completely did it again differently, then added a lot of pins and spray, all while pretending it was the same one she started with.

    • @krissyterry9908
      @krissyterry9908 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I think she basically just did a lot of tugging & positioning of the hair over & over until it looked good. But I do agree that that part should have been left in the video since it is an essential part for those of us who need to see how it's done from start to finish with every detail left in 😁

    • @TryMyMartini
      @TryMyMartini 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You got all the information that you need. Once you get it to that point, you just tug on it and rearrange it, use bobby pins to get it to hold and shape the way you want it, and then you're good to go. Optionally, you can spray a light mist of hairspray if you need it to last. The important part was the method.

    • @TryMyMartini
      @TryMyMartini 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@krissyterry9908 The problem with that is that it's different every time. You just have to shape it based on what you see in the mirror and where you need more volume in the bun. There's not really much point in watching somebody do theirs, when all you need to do is practice on your own.

      Yes some women have thin hair for sure. But if women didn't cut off their hair and stop layering so severely they would have hair to work with. My daughter and I do not cut our hair and no we don't have dry frizzy ends that "must" be cut off according to most people. Take care of your ends and they'll look beautiful.

    • @constancesansoucy
      @constancesansoucy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      That’s not true. I used to have nice thick hair and it has thinned considerably after menopause. I wear it mostly long and unlayered but it needs a little layering at the ends and sides to make it appear to have more volume. I’ve never had to deal with these issues but I do now. When I wear my hair in a bun I put in a comb with a sponge on it and wrap my hair around it. I also have a fake ponytail that I put in and wrap it with my own hair for a bountiful bun. You don’t know what it’s like to have thin hair until it hits you hard like it has me

    Of course, it looks fabulous. But a messy bun for me it something that I losen up during the day several times, in order e. g. to massage my scalp or to leave my hair open for a short period of time. And then to do a messy bun that does not lasts more than 2 seconds. So for me this is an updo but not a messy bun... Though it looks really nice... 🥰

    kept seeing tutorials with pins holding the bun together. Which will NOT work with all the hair I have. this just might though. Thanks for posting!!

      @@gabimayo4844 I've tried the chopstick hairstyles before. the chopsticks went flying as soon as I moved 😂 I just have super thick hair and its down to my butt. Definitely getting it cut due to the weight, maintenance, shampoo and conditioner costs, broken hairband costs, having to wear essentially a hair sweater during the heat of summer, etc. 😂 If I get enough cut off, i'm going to donate it again. 🤗

    the key and the moral of my messy hair is , i don't have enough time to play with my hair at that moment. I just do wrapping and gathering all together and away from my face or neck, to avoid it's inching sides 😂😂😂
