    BlaccAmerican Just because Ben has more muscle than Carl doesn't mean he is on more stuff. If u watch Carl lift, he lifted with less weight and focused on velocity and endurance for 200m and 100. Ben on the other hand was purely 100m. He lifted 400 pounds without focusing on velocity, just brute strength.

      Andrew K No, Lewis did not test positive before or after this. Lewis never tested positive for PEDs. He tested positive for minuscule amounts of stimulants that were not at all performance enhancing, as well as being ingested inadvertently via a cold medicine remedy. He was investigated by all the authorities and was never convicted with any doping offence. Get your facts straight! Ben was the man using PEDs. Anabolic steroids. This explains his dramatic time gains during the mid to late 80s.

      I think Ben Johnson was faster than Carl Lewis in all their starts....Where Carl Lewis excelled was pulling away. Sad that Ben Johnson was disgraced with doping. But I all things being equal....Carl Lewis would have loss the start and pass Ben Johnson at the end......that's the way he seemed to win his races.

  • @billyjo3648
    @billyjo3648 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Ben Johnson used the same process of loading up with steroids on the off season as he had done many times before, then cycled off in time to test clean for when he was due to be tested, however his test sample was interfered with, 30 for 30 9.79 documentary gives an idea who sabotaged Johnson's test.

    Funny, in 1986 the World Cup Junior Athletics was held here in Melbourne Australia at Olympic Park no1 ground, at 14 years old aehy set the World Record in the 100m hurdles - 200m sprint (so no aehy don't care about Usain Bolt), shotput, joint World Record in the 4×100m sprint relay and a 1st in the 1500m on the same day for Altona Nth Technical School, aehy was told to try out against Carl Lewis and aehy said "Let the Blackman have it, aehy will go into distance running" so in 1989 as Invitational runner for Williamstown Athletics Club aehy set the World Record in the 3km run on my 1st attempt at Senior competition and in 1991 aehy set the World Record for the 5km/10km run.

    you and i have had this conversation before... lewis never got busted... tested positive and cleared is not busted. if what happened to lewis had happened to johnson, he'd still be denying steroid use to this day and you know it.
    i defend johnson as an athlete... i am not an expert on track, but i am more impressed by his start than any other i've ever seen... but he was crooked, like many others.
    and to make lewis out to be a bad guy on what seems like resentment that he is american..?

    many other races before the chrono write an number and they correct it after and that was alwayse they added 1 of 2 s..the same in 200 m the chrono was first 19,31s, insteeds to correct it to 19,33s as it was in reality they want to make the game more succesful and so they put 19,30s, because that record of Michael johnson of 19,32s wil never be broken

    Ich rede von Seoul 88!! Johnson hatte dort nicht nur seinen WR unterboten, sondern Lewis auf dessen Terrain geschlagen, mit schwachem Start und starkem Finish. Die Niederlage war so endgültig und die Frage nach der Nummer Eins in der Welt für immer geklärt, dass es jeder verstanden hätte, wenn Lewis wortlos das Weite gesucht hätte, anstatt zu gratulieren. Dass er dabei innerlich gekotzt hat, willst Du ihm jetzt nicht wirklich vorwerfen, oder?
    PS: Dopingvorwürfe gab es damals von beiden Seiten.

    Not being much of a fan of track & field it has nothing to do with American pride or vindication. If I thought Lewis was as guilty as Johnson I would have no problem with Linford Christie being the gold medalist in the 1988 100m. Both Lewis & Johnson were born in 1961 which would have put them in their prime age of around 23 during the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Lewis was the better runner. After eight consecutive losses to Lewis in 1985, Johnson finally won a race. The turning point.
