CHECKING WIRING SECTION: You state the oil pressure is good when the ground is removed and the oil light turns off (video time 46:03). Then when you ground the sending unit wire (jumper wire to ground) you state that the oil light should be "on the whole time the car is operating" (video time 47:20-30). You then started the car (time 47:50)and the oil light goes off. Am I missing something?.
YES IT'S A GREAT VIDEO AND IT'S ALSO A GREAT LESSONS TO KNOW HOW TO REPLACE ENGINE OIL EVERY THREE MONTHS OR EVERY THREE THOUSAND MILES, THESE CARS AN SUVS OR TRUCKS ARE COMING WITH A THING ON A DASH SAYS CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON, AND THIS IS HOW IT SAYS IT INSIDE OF THE DASHBOARD IN MY 08 GRAND MARQUIS LS, IN OTHER CARS IT SAYS CHANGE MOTOR OIL AND RESET THE OIL ON EVERY OIL CHANGE ON EVERY 3 MONTHS, AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE AND FOR YOUR GREAT LESSONS, AND I USE FULL SYNTHETIC 5W-20
In my own experience with an '86 Toyota Camry that had an oil burning problem that didn't pass the emission test, I added STP oil additive and passed the emission test. It was doubtless due to the thickening of the oil that reduced the amount of oil getting into the combustion chamber past worn piston rings and over head valve guides.
You guys have excellent videos! I just started watching your videos, I like it a lot and learning many good things about cars. I will like to ask a question, I have an old truck 1980 Ford F 150 that I don't started for at least 7 years, do you think that the engine gone waisted ? I appreciate your answer? Thank you and god bless you.
I think the oil light was supposed to be on the first time your when back in the car and checked it. After connecting that wire directly to the body (grounding the circuit). ;)
Dan I have an old Chevy PU that I drive maybe 500-1000 miles a year and haven’t changed the oil for probably 5 yrs now .. the oil is still clean should I change the oil anyway or wait until it’s gets dirty...
You should absolutely change it at least once a year. Oils develop acids from the chemicals in the oil coming in contact with the inside of your engine. The acids will slowly deteriorate your bearings, seals etc.
Best video on oil and filters I've ever seen.
Very didactic and instructive. Good review of basics with lots of details.

I like to the coffee filter analogy that he gave for the reason the oil gets black.
