Desperation is never cute. I hate that in the "scheming girl's" character. It's not love, its obsession; either for what scheming girls can't have or what scheming girls think they are entitled to.

Am I the only one who thinks it's incredibly creepy that they keep having 'scheming women' purposefully either pretending to be drunk or actually getting drunk so the guy has the opportunity to take advantage of them so they can then force them to 'take responsibility as part of their story lines? I mean it's creepy on both parties parts; the guy taking advantage of a drunk woman and a woman being 'drunk' to be taken advantage of and then force the guy that took advantage of them to stay with them?! Even worse are the ones where another guy (usually the ML's rival) swoops in when the ML tries to send the woman home but doesn't want to get in trouble with the FL so asks the other guy to send the woman home...only for that guy to sleep with the woman who is horrified the next morning when the wrong skeez took advantage of them. I mean I know this probably happens IRL, but why do the writers keep acting like this is common-place/normalise this? Someone get them in therapy asap! Then again, apparently in some countries young women are encouraged not to drink too much because it's common for random men to take them to a hotel whether they consent or not and that's apparently acceptable behaviour. Also the fact that more than one country just popped into your head when you read the previous sentence and can see it being acceptable there is more than a little disgusting.
One the flip side is the equally as disgusting 'scheming woman ruffies (or similar) the object of her obsessions drink to achieve the same goal, but taking away the guys consent instead'. Seriously, what do these writers have against consent? I mean if Satan needs it, so should everyone else. Are you worse than Satan?!

I mean the same concept is in Chinese novels. Especially your richer type families. Respect is important. Not to mention intimacy isnt taken lightly from what ive seen.
