      YaH The Father (Genesis 1), Who, with His HAND, formed “man (Adam)”, from the dust of the ground (Genesis 2:7).
      YaH’s HAND they NAILED to the Almond Tree, to symbolize forgiveness of the “Tree of Life” sin OF “man” and thus “The Fall OF man” (Genesis 3)

    Masking works well if you are lucky to have a gap at the bottom of the skirting board though here in the UK our skirting boards don't usually have a gap. Also I'd suggest also putting a tarpaulin or cover over the main carpet to avoid any paint drips from the paint can, etc.

    • @gilpetperdon9831

      You dont need to put masking tape on the wall to paint the skirting boards etc and you dont need to be a professional to cut in your paint so to avoid masking tape.

    I just use a thin piece of cardboard, about 2ft long and push it underneath the baseboard. Dont paint to the ends of the cardboard, leave about 5 inches on each end clean and gently pull it in the direction you're painting,keeping it under the base. Usually a couple pieces will do an average room.

    Ive been using at10" or larger mud blade and running it under the base board. Using only the middle 80% ish of the blade, so when sliding it left or right, no paint on the edge smears on the carpet. Although wit the fluffier carpets, using the tape, under the baseboard is best; keeps the carpet from springing into the wet paint, gluing it to the baseboard.

    If you want a smooth finish it helps to apply the product with a roller and back-brush with a brush. Rollers can cover the surface quickly and the brush gets rid of the roller-stipple.

      Agree, tight sponge paint gloss roller

    • @MV-wb2cz
      @MV-wb2cz ปีที่แล้ว

      if you get a decent semi-gloss with enamel in the paint you can skip the back brush altogether as the enamel is heavier paint which has a small paint "sag" so when you put it on with a small roller it "sags" the stipple to a nice finish without any brush strokes or stipple marks, might have to do 2 coats but it looks like it was spray finished.

      @bethanyanderson1745 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MV-wb2cz▪︎ forgive me if this ought to be obvious but painting heavily enough for the paint to sag doesn't seem like a proper solution. Esp if the paint sags too much and pools at the bottom of the baseboard and onto the carpet or into the carpet "hairs."

    • @MV-wb2cz
      @MV-wb2cz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bethanyanderson1745 forgive me but i did not say to paint a heavy coat, it's the way the paint is formulated, if you have a paint with enamel in it vs regular paint, it's a heavier paint and you don't need to back roller it

    This is all well and good if you have a gap, base board or skirting as it know in New Zealand which is usually fixed before the floor coverings go down last to prospect it from workers all over it, so painting after does require some additional skill by the painter or home handy man not to get paint the caret edge

    I’ve been doing this sort of work for 30 years. Basically you don’t have to tuck it on the skirting you you put the mask in type about half an inch up the skirting then Paul make the carpet tuck down back of carpet

    The best thing for carpet and baseboard is to get yourself No residue duct tape.
    Investing a few dollars in 2 or 3 rolls of this makes the job a hell of a lot easier.You can leave it down as long as you need to until you're done then pull it all up at once.
    Make your strip as long as you can handle it. Keep it taut, and firmly press downward and toward the baseboard having the edge slightly curled as you apply pressure, from slightly the middle pressing down and forward getting the edge under the board.
    You'll get about 1/4 inch to almost 1/2 inch underneath.
    I very been able to do it with 3/4 inch carpet.

    Your technique is fine, if your baseboards are above the wooden floor.
    For homes built in the 50's, the floors were hardwood and the baseboards rested on them. I went to Lowes and bought 6 thin sheets of sign making plastic. These are 18" x 24" in size. Using my wide putty knife I tuck their wide edge between the baseboard and carpet. As they lay back onto my drop cloth their weight keeps them in place. If needed, a bit of pressure on them, as I paint keeps them in place. They're also thin enough that I can slip them under doors and paint them, without removing them. I do take off the door knobs.

    Right on. I usually use the ten inch blade without tape, but wipe the blade down with a damp rag on both sides after painting about nine inches of baseboard. Then with a totally clean knife do another nine inch section of baseboard. I ALWAYS have two damp rags (one for covering my paint brush and can, and another for quickly wiping up accidents and drips. I'll probably try the construction paper method someday, that looks quick and inexpensive. I always use a dropcloth when painting over carpet, also.

    Thank you so much! I really needed this video. Could I use these techniques on a floating vinyl Plank floor? The extra base board is nailed into the floor. I'm not sure ai can get the tape or the drywall spatula under it.

    When painting the skirting board leave a gap of 3mm above the carpet, no need for tape or pallet knifes etc. No one comes into your home and gets on their knees to look at the board and it can't be noticed when standing up.

    use a softer bristle brush and you will not see the brush marks you do not need the tape at all i have been a painter for over 30 years never got 1 drop on any carpet if anything get a nice sheet of alloy sheet put it under then paint along it the move it a long if you useing a gloss paint make sure you turp it down so it givies you a nice flow and not pulling

    Been a P+D 17 years always used masking tape. It’s just there to protect the carpet which means still need to cut in. The mistake people make is they leather the paint into the tape when painting the boards which risks leaking onto the carpet which is a pain in the arse.

    Good advice for tucking the tape. Bad advice to submerge a paintbrush for cleaning. This can damage the ferrule by making it swell and ruin a brush. To make cleaning easy and save paint from getting into ferrule wrap blue painter tape around the ferulle and over bristles where it connect about a half inch. When done peel the tape toward the bristles where you will see it blocked paint from getting into the ferrule which is how brushes get ruined. I have brushes that are 30yrs old and good as new with this practice. Makes clean up easier too.

    Proper gloss paint you cannot wash brushes out in water, And you should be using a foam roller with gloss, The roller you used is for emulsion nice info on masking up though.

    NEVER use hot water to clean brushes and rollers. Paint is more likely to become hard and form a skin with hot water. Only ever use cold water which will more easily and quickly dilute the paint.

      A bit of liquid hand or dish soap helps, then rinse well and shake dry.
