If I may offer an alternate theory as to what happened in Ticket Master and here concerning the teleportation? My theory is that when she used the spell in the Ticket Master, she was unfocused and unprepared. So therefore, it caused her to overcharge it in a bit of panic. As a result, she wound up botching the spell a bit. In this case, however, she had more time to focus and use the spell more readily. Now, it does coincide with your statement that she has practiced the spell. However, I believe the practice was more towards her ability to focus and ready magical energy itself, rather than that particular spell. However, these are my own personal theories. View it however you will.
I rewatched this somewhat recently along with a couple other S1 episodes, and I was wondering why she was teleporting instead of just trotting over. I thought maybe she was trying to get Applejack's attention with the noise, but your explanation makes a lot more sense.
Hey, Dr Wolf. I found out that this episode has a reference to the movie, Good Will Hunting. The reference is when Applejack said "How d'ya like them apples?", followed by Big McIntosh saying "Um, how do you like them apples?" afterwards. That's a quote that references the "How Do You Like Them Apples?" quote from Good Will Hunting. I'm don't know if you've ever seen that movie, but it is obvious that MLP referenced that quote.
I find that I can really relate to Applejack here. About a week ago, I started taking requests to draw people's OCs on deviantArt. Little did I expect that the requests would start coming in droves as soon as my work got noticed. I'm now stuck with piles of requests, and I'm stupidly adamant to do them all, without any sort of commission or pay. I'm not quite at AJ's level of sleep deprived madness yet, but I might get there soon.
there is a thin about the teleporting that doesnt seem right when twilight charged nightmare moon to get to the stone balls that supposedly contained the elements she teleported quite skillfully from in front of nightmare moon to behind her it doesnt seem to be a big problem unlike in the ticked master which takes place a good while later
I had the same problem as you with picking a favourite. The way I figured out my personal favourite was to gauge which episode elicited the most positive emotional response from me. So, are you able to at least choose the episode with that quality? There are many reasons to like an episode, but a lot of people have something they care about more than other things. I care less about trope if it's pulled of right, for example, whereas other people would can an episode entirely based on that.
Hey Dr.Wolf, I liked this video; you picked up a somethings I didn't notice and went pretty in depth with the character of Applejack. However, there is one thing critic I do want to mention. In a lot of your videos, you give descriptions of whats going on the episode, details people would probably already know, because they saw the episode. That's something I think you should limit, unless your giving said details to prove a larger, more in depth, thought. Just giving input, even thogh I liked it
Great review, as always. I like the teleport idea. Maybe Twilight didn't want to teleport around Ponyville because others might think she was just showing off, like in Boast Busters. So when she went to see her friend in a more secluded place, she decided to take the opportunity to practice. Also, do you think that scene you showed at 6:45 might be lampshading the odd shapes of Equestria's landscape?
Best. Applejack. Episode. Ever! That and i was inspired by this episode to keep all my promises i make. Make it to class early? I get up earlier and get working before that. Go to work at 6:00? I'll be there 5:30! Homework tommorrow? All night finished. Before i became a brony... I was kinda too lazy.... Missing school because i slept in... Not anymore!
This one to me suffer from a similar problem to another AJ ep, Apple Family Reunion, it's all about the lesson and really doesn't give us enough story to go alone with it. They both have good lessons but that's not really enough for a 22 min ep, especially when the lesson was pretty oblivious. Give me Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, that is an actual story! But at least this one has "wooo wooo!"
I don't know if you have ever said this at any point so excuse me for asking if I should know already, but what is your favourite episode of the series?
Something I never hear mentioned about this episode or indeed another episode, is the use of a very dirty joke in the opening when Applejack says to Big Mac "Are you telling me my mouth is making promises my legs can't keep" - is it just a really dirty joke, anyway it's that which reminds me what kept me intrigued during my early steps to becoming a brony- the other line is from One bad apple- Sweetie Bell- "This must be what Rarity uses on her emergency edible boots"
1:59-2:08 In hindsight, it fits in with how we later find out that Mrs. Cake was friends with AJ's mom

Excellent review. All of your points are well presented, your voice is a joy to hear, and you picked up on details that I hadn't noticed before.

LOOK UP SPIKE WITH WINGS!
Another fantastic review and video. Well done.
Great video.
Applejack is best pony.
God dammit, I have to watch it again now, like most of these I blanked out and just thought of Pinky Pie... :D
props to AppleJack for sheer willpower
That Twilight can teleport so easily in comparison to the teleport in The Ticket Master could be the fact that it is not the same distance.

i still love Applejack

Have you noticed how we never see these talking cows again? Or any talking farm animals, for that matter?
Twilight milked cows (probably these cows) during Boast Busters...
Sytse Durkstra
Sheep talked, Yaks talked, and Buffalos talked later on

can you review stuff other the mlp. But mlp related stuff? Or even non mlp stuff?
Ah yes, Pride. The most insidious of all inner conflicts.
It's good, until it is bad. And when it gets there, you're not even aware of it.
I don't know if you have ever said this at any point so excuse me for asking if I should know already, but what is your favourite episode of the series?
I don't find the "humor" funny as I am scared of tiredness.
Link deviant art profile, just because
Applejack in my opinion was funny in this.
Don't ponies get Diabetes from eat so much cakes ?
