Try whipping three slipper limpets alongside the hook with very fine elastic gently. It's hard to keep them on the hook without whipping should do the trick 🫡
I'm impressed I tell you one thing sadly on the isle of man nobody stocks lug or rag and its illegal to dig em in the local harbour which doesn't help my chances because flatfish do enjoy lug n rag worm mainly, do you ever catch flatfish on fish baits sandeels n mackerel??? Always curious of anything that will possibly work.. That's an impressive session 3 species not included the whiting I think that's a perfect session 👌
That’s a shame you can’t get work there man! Im sure you can get hold of some frozen black lug worm? That’s a good bait for the flatties! If not a small piece of sandeel would work, even small pieces of squid or mackerel will also work
I can get hold of lugworm occasionally but it's a he'll of a trip if you don't drive and I've used it right time in a local hotspot for flattish and I've lost a couple and had my m8 do nothing didn't bait up cast out nothing and reeled in a fat plaice the size of a dinner plate!! I've just been unlucky 😕
I bought a pack of impact shields the other day but I've never used em in a rig b4 , would you use em or do you always use clip down type rigs?? I've made dozens of flapper traces 2 hook rigs 3 hook flapper, 1 up 1 down rigs with all different beads and sequins I just NEVER managed to land any type of flatfish!!! I've lost a couple of plaice n flounder so frustrating after so many decades 38 years you'd think I would have picked one up by fluke by now😅😅!! ONE DAY...🙏
Flappers seems to be the most popular way to target to flatfish around our areas, if you are struggling to catch them and you know they are around then maybe try using a running ledger rig?
I’ve been told that it’s not illegal if they are dead? These were left form a storm over a week after I found them, deffo dead as they were smelly and rotting
I'm saving this video to have with my morning coffee ☕ and hopefully it'll give me the boost to brave the cold for a few coalie off the pier...
I watch the videos in the morning when I am having breakfast 😂
Cracking watch Dan cheers mate 🎣
Nice film again.. 👍

Great video as usual. Little tip nip the tails off when you're using black lug and King rag. They won't come off in the cast then tight lines 🫡

@@SouthCoastDangler it just says 'live or fresh fella'.....can't see any harm in using myself esp. as they are well established but there you go.
Amazing as always! ❤️
