honestly, her seeing one of their cars on the live tv broadcast is probably a big enough win for them at this point, theyre so far behind you only see a 5 second clip of a williams car every race and its usually when one of the front runners are overtaking it lmao

I can't see how this would work as the bias changes depending upon the grip available, so what is good for 'say' turn 1 on new tyres wouldn't necessarily work when the tyres are even 20% used and definately wouldn't if the wear rate of the tyres is different front to back and/or side to side... And that's not allowing for the track grip changing or the tyres wearing in an unusual fashion.

I'd be surprised if Renault are found guilty of anything. Joe Bauer and his crew check these cars all the time. The ECU is spec so you can't go crazy with that. They'd know i there was something illegal. At worst it is a repeat of the mass dampener thing from 15 years ago. They'd tell the team to not use it anymore. If this is true, and I really hope it's not, then why did they bother? Renault have had a terrible season so it would seem that if they did use this cheat, it didn't do them any good.
Also, if you read the official document from the FIA on this, it only says the protest was admissible because it was in accordance with Regulation 13, which details how and when protests have to be made, nothing has been said to suggest that the FIA accepted it because there was evidence that Renault have definitely cheated. For all we know, the Racing Point document could be full of things that they think happened, which could turn out to be completely false.
Either way, I would be so disappointed in both drivers if this illegal system is in use, Danial especially is a brilliant driver, I can't see why he would go along with this, knowing how wrong it is.

By that definition they'd have to be pedal cars.... "Unaided" means areas of skill. Traction control, ABS etc replace the skill of the driver. Power steering, breaks, and the engine itself, don't. They still rely on the driver's skill to control and operate them. Power steering makes driving physically easier for the driver, but it doesn't decide when to steer or how much.

I always wondered why there were knobs on the wheels. Wouldn't those be hard to operate since you'd need a finger and a thumb to do it? Why not just have 4 preset buttons and then just have 4 places around the track that you'd change it. Then just have a "adjust up" and "adjust down" buttons. So the regulations say that the computers can't change the bias at all, and the drivers must drive the car completely by themselves (meaning they must make all the setting changes themselves), but would it be illegal for the computer to set say some "stops" on a knob dependent on track position so the driver could just throw the knob over until it stopped and it'd be at the right location? Technically the driver would still be making the changes. Heck, he could even adjust the stops manually. Is the computer adjusting ANYTHING based on track position illegal? Say, could the computer adjust a pseudo stop on the throttle pedal around certain turns that are known to be slippery to prevent wheelspin? That's not "technically" the computer driving the car, it's just semi-restricting what the driver can do. It could even be like a detent so that the driver could push past it if they wanted to. Like a "suggested" throttle position.

But if the drivers aren't adjusting their wheels and the automatic system is proved to exist then the drivers are in on it

i don't actually see how it could work? brake bias isn't just changed corner to corner its also changed depending on the life and condition of the tyres and it also needs to be changed when performing an overtake on a corner, so a pre race setup might not even be beneficial during the race as tyres get older and would need to be set by the driver who knows how the tyres are performing, if it is a pre race set brake bias system then it could be a hindrance to the performance of the car and unless it somehow knows what the tyres will be like and when an overtake will be performed before the race (thats impossible) then it really wouldn't work?

Realisticly, if the allegations are true, the team will probably be hit with similar consequences as BAR Honda back in 2005, when it was discovered after the San Marino GP that Jenson Buttons car was underweight when drained of fuel, meaning they were using fuel as balast to hit the required minumum weight. The initial idea was to ban them completely from the championship that year, but they eventually settled on disqualifying the team and drivers from the San Marino GP, and ban them from the next two races... Renault would probably fit somewhere in this range, but in the more severe end, as it would be a case of the drivers absolutely knowing about the systems, where Button and Sato might not have known about the missing 5kg of weight...

it's not impossible that if Renault discovered & used this auto brake bias system other teams aren't using similar systems. it might reach the point where other teams performance dramatically drops off as they hastily remove their own devices & cover their tracks. it wouldn't do much for the sport if it turned out manufacturers champions Mercedes were also using this system. FIA might end up having to put a specifically worded rule change to prevent teams using these kinds of system but has to turn a blind eye if top teams like Mercedes or Ferrari are doing this too. otherwise the whole 2019 season would become a farce. but if one team exploits a gap in the regs to gain an advantage u can bet other teams do the same.
