80mW - 300mW Burning Laser Pointer Test (Green vs. Red)

- Here's a comparison of 5 different laser pointers I bought online.
There are two red ones: one with a power output of approximately 80mW, while the other puts out 200mW.
The other three green laser pointers are 80mW, 100mW and 300mW respectively.
It appears that overall green laser pointers are brighter (to shine at a large distance). However, the red laser pointers are better for burning stuff since they were able to light the matches more easily, even with lower power output.

That 200mW 660nm laser pointer seems to be the only one from the bunch advertised correctly about power

No power meter so how do we know these are accurate? I have my doubts that pen is 100mW.
Why even bother Lazerman121 and i also very much doubt that any green in there is above 150mw we just have a heavy fog situation btw that 300mw looks like a plt520 diode based on the color.
Prob it is 100mW maybe not focused correctly to have a focal point where it can burn, many laser pens can be overspec regardless of where you buy and plus u can get easily 150+ mW laser pens from Optotronics, or pot-modding and or fully replacing the laser module

I've spent hours and can't find what I need, can someone help?
I need a laser that will stay on without being pressed (not momentary), this is for a scale reading, can run continuously connected to USB, tight precise beam, and I don't see red that well but will accept red. Its power should not be very high. Preferably does not double as a bottle opener, actually saw one out there. I want simple.
get a laser module, they come in many colors red, green, blue, violet and can be run for some time depending on the module
@@suhailab3634 Ah yeah, I see adafruit has some for example. I cut open a 5 dollar cat laser toy from the pet store and think a 47-70 ohm resistor might do for longer life to adjust from the 4.5 battery voltage to 5.x usb and also without it the dot is more of a blob. I went with 62 ohms using a micro-pot, 4.2v to the unit and under 17 mA, that's comforting (this unit turns off under 4.0 volts).

Hey men one question, I have a Pointer Láser The JD-303 Specs Say: Max output power 300 MW, this are True ? My Láser don't Burn.
You have to focus the end cap not the one that has the label then the one more up and then you have to put your matc or something you want to burn on the smallest possible dot or the tinnest beam and all 303 are about 60-130mw

You should wear goggles for most greens lasers to be safest use them at all times while using a green laser

@@frenzygaming1 yes it will. Street lights have a sensor that switches the lamp off in the day time but it turns it on at night. Even 5mw is enough to turn the lamp off

So how much mw does a laser need to Light a Match? And does the color matter?

If you use a red Laser and the head of the Match is also red, much of the light reflects away. So a braun headed Match would burn faster.
You need about 70mw to light it and if you have a red top match then a red laser will light it harder but if you use a green or blue laser you will light it easily blue ones are my favorite becuse most objecty absorb blue light better greens are very bright at low kevels and reds are super cool when the beam is visible

@@minhyeokseo4252 also you probably dont have a 2000mw 532nm laser. most 532nm lasers are mislabeled and 2000mw should be able to burn through solid plastic in seconds

The one you say is 300 mw is probably 140mw the pen is 50 the 303 80-130 the 80mw red is correct and the 200mw red too

The 80mw is a laser 303, the reason that it doesnt burn because you didnt focused the lens.

No infrared lasers are usually used in eye surgery. Most eye surgery machines use 1064nm DPSS or 808nm diode lasers

3000 mW es 3 watts, lo cual es muy fuerte como para un puntero laser, esos los puedes conseguir en sitios estadounidenses, de seguro es para que la etiqueta siempre este correcta (un puntero laser comercial siempre va a ser menor que 3000mW)

sleetskate, no it’s not 5, they are more than 5 but all of them are a bit different. I tested mine using a power meter and it was 64mw
no the 303 specifically states 5mw on the label and the listing
@@sleetskate, yes that is true but they do that because selling any laser pointer over 5mw is illegal so they put a fake label and everything. It says the same thing on mine but I actually tested mine using a power meter and it was well over 5mw. Go search Laser 303 review on TH-cam and they will say the same thing

@@sleetskate, how do you know it's 5mw, you can't tell by looking at the beam. I know how many mw mine is because i tested it with a power meter, I make/mod lasers, I have been making and testing lasers since 7 years ago. All I was saying is that the 303's are not 5mw they are always between 50mw and 80mw because I've tested a few myself and the ones I see other people make videos of also test it and they are also between the 50 and 80mw range. If you tested your's and it is 5mw then that's cool but you can't assume by looking at it, no argument though.

@@guestwhat6948 no it doesnt matter about the color. Its the mw that determine the power of a laser. 60mw is enough to burn. Most laser 303s are mislabelled as a higher power than they are. Most laser 303s are only 30mw
