Thanks for the helpful tips on getting the bike back up on two wheels!

Upset is when your riding your 22 CB500X kitted out on a "maintained" township dirt/gravel/rock road through mud, clay colored water puddles and suddenly discover, the last puddle is a pit, filled with 3 inches of clay water over 25 inches of soft clay. The bike stops upright and immediately, you flip and go thru the windscreen, landing on your back, water fills helmet with visor down in soft sticky clay. Momentary panic/confusion, until sit up and open the visor and struggle to get out of the clay after you stand up.
No cellphone reception, you have to walk half mile to farm house. The farmer hoses you down for 10 minutes washing off the clay, won't take his 4 wheel drive truck because it will get stuck. However, he gets his dump truck to get to and pull the bike out of the clay pit, then tows it to the farm. He advises you that your lucky, the other side of the "puddle" was a foot deeper. A friend of the farmers hoses off the bike for 45 minutes before it's put into his shed until I can arrange transport to the dealer.
Dealer mechanic discovered the motor ingested water from the intake, and the crank case and gear box is filled clay water. The cost of repair exceeds the value of the bike and insurance company totals the bike. The Township denies they were aware of the condition of the road, which was a bald face lie.
However, a 24 Transalp 750 is on the showroom floor and the healing process begins. Love at first sight and I bought her, named her Hoot after my nickname for my granddaughter, mid October, 2023, two and half months after my 80th birthday. I picked her over Africa Twin because I ride alone and she only weights 459 lbs. With extra 40 lbs. of accessories I can lift her when, not if, I drop her. Had her dyno tuned, she's now '88.7 hp at the wheel or about 104 hp at the crank, so power is not an issue.
I'll not deny that I was a bit apprehensive for 20 minutes when I first rode after the accident. Hoot has 6,500 mils on her clock and is currently content on her center stand, with trickle charger, cover and moth balls in the garage as winter sets in.
Stay safe, happy holidays, and wishing y'all an early spring.
